How Can I Add Custom ROM/TWRP for AT&T - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
So I have been reading around on this but wanted to ask here to be sure.
I have a Galaxy Note 5 AT&T version. Which is the N920A model. From what I can see flashing this with TWRP or adding a custom ROM onto it isn't possible? Is that correct? If that isn't correct I'd love to get the proper files and directions on how to do that. I was able to flash an updated stock rom (samsung stock) using ODIN which makes me think flashing a custom one is possible but don't want to brick device.
My plan was to flash this ROM onto it (https://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/development/rom-pixel-rom-t3570393). Is this the best ROM to flash if I'm wanting a more stock experience without Samsungs and AT&Ts crap added to it? Is there a better choice?
Thanks.

[Q] Need captivate user needs help

typo on the title, i meant New captivate user needs help LOL
Hey guys,
I've gotten myself a Rogers Captivate (SGH-I896) running Continuum v5.5.
Model number states GT-I9000 with baseband I9000TDVJP9, Build GINGERBREAD.XXJVO
I'm not a total noob since i have a Nexus S and used to own a t959 vibrant, but seems like the captivate is confusing the hell out of me lol. Here are a few questions i hope the community could help me out with
1. Boot up screen states GT-I9000, so i guess this means this was flashed with GB Bootloader? i'm assuming we dont have official Gingerbread on the captivate hence the need for the GB Bootloader (Please correct me if i'm wrong)
2. i have used ODIN on my vibrant many times. Now do i need to download a specific version for the captivate or is ODIN the same for all Galaxy S phones?(Please note that i have the AIO Vibrant Toolbox so ODIN version is the one that comes with it)
3. If i want to change ROMS, to lets say the Sensation ROM, can i flash it using CWR or do i have to change bootloaders first? and Can someone kindly tell me which ROM can i just flash on top of my current ROM.
4. If i want to start all over again and get back to stock, what are the steps i need to make. can i just put it on download mode and Odin back to stock the same way i used to do it on the vibrant? or do i have to change bootloaders first.
5. Lastly, is there a big difference between the AT&T and the Rogers Captivate? Am i able to flash all the custom ROMS here or do i have to find specific ones that will only work on my version?
You may have noticed that the bootloaders are my main cause of worry, coz i know that a mishap with those would cause a hard brick. Hope someone could give me a few minutes of their time to help a captivate noob get started on flashing these amazing ROMS on my captivate. Thank you!!

1. Yes, You flashed the i9000 GB Bootloaders that are compatible with our phone. If you look on the forums there is a one-click for the kf1 bootloaders that are made for our phone and much harder to brick.
2. There is different odin oneclicks for the captivate and different files for odin. Not all galaxy s files are compatible with all the different galaxy s devices. Be sure to download captivate specific files. If they are not captivate specific make sure they are known to work with our device, the safest way to do this is to stick to files on the captivate forums.
3. I typically 1-click back to stock jf6 and follow steps to flash the new rom when I want to flash a new rom. Be sure not to use the old 3 button fix and I would be hesitant to do this without a jig ready if my 3 button didnt work out of the box.
4. Odin 1-click JF6(NOT the 3 button fix) should have the primary bootloaders, it has always reflashed the eclair/froyo bootloaders for me and seems to be the best way to restore factory settings, from there its easy to update using Kies or to flash a custom rom through CWM without even rooting. All you need is to install it with an update.zip you can find on the forums easily. Edit: If you are trying to get to stock for warranty exchange you'll have to find rogers specific stock roms which are on the captivate android development forums. AT&T Roms should work with rogers with proper APN settings though(at least thats my understanding. I am on AT&T and have an i897)
5. My understanding is the phones are the same hardware wise just the APN settings differ. I may be mistaken though and you may want another more informed Rogers user to respond to this question.
Thanks Xijar

Rogers tab 7" convert to phone questions

hi all
i picked up a used rogers galaxy tab 7".upgraded to 2.3.3 official via kies.
GT-P1000R
rooted it.
unlocked it.
now i wish to use the phone capabilities and have a few questions.
i see in a couple posts that you no longer have to flash a complete rom, just a modem.
is that info correct?
i see that the jm2 modem seems to work best with the rogers tab,so do i just flash the modem with odin and that gives me the voice capability.
or do i need to flash a complete rom(European)?
also there is no dialer program so where do i get that at?or does it come with the modem flash.
is there a better modem than jm2 for the rogers tab?or the bell i9000 modem?
i am in canada
thanks,jeff

you need a euro based rom (official or custom) and bell i9000 modem.
hi
i have the bell i9000 modem already downloaded but not flashed.
which european rom would work best with the rogers tab.
i prefer 2.3.3
thanks

Careful what you flash though, if it's from XDA any ROM should do you okay but Samsung official ROMs may contain locked boot loaders. Catch up on some reading before doing anything.
Also i suggest that you do a complete backup of your tab before flashing anything else so that you could revert back in case of issues. Stock ROGERS firmware is hard to find. And if you do a backup I wouldn't mind a copy of it as long as you keep your personal information out. As a matter of fact, what i am after is a un-rooted fully stock ROGERS ROM. As i have deleted my original backup, and would like to revert completely back to stock, I would be very thankfull if you could help. But none the less you should do a complete backup, something like the roto or nandroid backups.
Try the OVERCOME rom, it's a great place to start as a noob to flashing, they have very detailed tutorials and the ROM is good.
EDIT: And the OVERCOME rom does work with the bell i9000 modem just fine for phone calls. Although the volume on the tab is not the greatest for a speakerphone.

Thanks for the offer. But no need to go through all of that unless you can un root with something like super one click (fast and easy, but I don't think that will work for you). If your tab is still under warranty you might want to learn how to root and unroot and restock and such (its all covered in the forums). Otherwise I don't want you playing with your tab and have a "bad" flash trying to help me out. Do read up in the dev section before you start flashing custom ROMs.
That said if you do feel comfortable flashing and decide to make a backup for yourself I definitely wouldn't mind a copy.

hi
not scared of bricking the tab,i have been flashing samsungs for the last couple years, captivates etc.my last tab i did a supposed gps fix which ended in a bootloop.
i managed to get it back but with a modified 2.2 firmware.then kies would not let me upgrade to 2.3.3(unofficial firmware error)
my problems have always been actually returning to stock.
in recovery i have the orange clockwork recovery that has an option to do factory reset.will this take me back to unrooted and unlocked???
if so consider it done.
i will need direction to do a full backup after that.
jeff
Doing a hard reset will NOT un-root or re-lock your device (as far as I know). The factory reset will clear the data and cache and should not touch the system. You have to un-root your device using the method you rooted it with or something along those lines.
As far as a backup is concerned, creating a system backup has been covered in the forums before. There is plenty of detailed instructions on performing a backuphave a look at the Roto Backup method.
Just picked up a galaxy tab ( rogers )
gt-p1000r
firmware 2.2
all stock
no root
no unlock
I would like to "give back" something
for all the HELLp you guys have given via these forums
( i swear all my grey hair started once i dumped my blackberry and went samsung and found this site! )
Anyway
If you are still looking for the a copy of the STOCK system before I start to play...
I will try to figure out how to make a copy for you

[Q] New to the GNote world with a question

Just got my Note and am coming from a htc desire. Just trying to get up to speed on the different "lingo" and software for rooting that the device seems to have? can someone give me the coles notes.
Flashing customization
CWM vs Odin
- Whats the basic difference between these two options (only experience is with CWM) when flashing roms, can any update.zip be flashed by either CWM or Odin ?
Terminology
- Im seeing Firmware, ROM and Kernel being thrown around regularly... Kernel and Rom I get but, I haven't heard the term firmware with any flashing on the desire... I'm assuming that the firmware is just the android OS + Samsung customization ?

CWM is flashing a .zip file on your phone in recovery, for custom rom`s/kernel`s
Odin is flashing a .tar file by unzipping a zip file twice from your computer and/or from your phone (mobile odin by chainfire), for samsung firmware
Firmware is mostly used for the firmwareversion like XXKKA or XXKL7 etc.
Update.zip is generally not used.
Never flash custom software (kernel or rom) with Odin from your computer, it initiates the binary flash counter. Will void you warranty when returning your phone to a store for repair!
Link for rooting http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784, read well before beginning!
Thanks for the info, Im already rooted just trolling the custom rom threads now looking for one to test out ! so far I've just been running stock and removing all the bloat from samsung

[Q] Getting Cyangonmod on my Note

Hey all
going to be a bit of a db one, but I pretty much just want either links to guides, or a list of processes to get my note onto Cyanogen Mod 10.1, I don't want any custom kernals or anything, just a custom recovery and a custom rom on my phone before I go on
I flashed before using odin to sort out a update problem after my 4.0 ota screwed
I also flashed clockwork mod onto my galaxy s + back in the day so I am custom to software like this
Phone details
Vodafone N 7000 running 4.1.2
never touched anything before modding wise minus the stock reflash after 4.0 ota screw up
sooo pretty much, is it just a case of flash clockwork mod in odin then flash rom, or do I need anything else?

[Q] recover att bloat and apps?

I uninstalled some att apps on my phone, but would like to get them back. Is there a download somewhere where I can find that? Maybe somehow flash the stock ROM?
I would think you could flash the stock rom with Odin. I haven't been a Sammy user since the S2 was the flagship, so I'm not yet back up to speed on the particulars of doing this. There's a sticky here with download links for the ATT roms though.
