Is it possible to pull individual frames from a video shot with the XZ1C, (i.e. doing this on the phone rather than on a computer)?
Thanks
Sure, just playback the video and then take a screenshot. (Press and hold VOL DOWN + POWER BUTTON at the same time in case you didn't know.)
@mhaha, Thanks for your reply. I was hoping that there might be some way of obtaining a higher-resolution frame capture than that which I'd likely get through a screen shot. But maybe an actual frame might not be much better. I'll have to look into it.

yeah ... hold your hand steady .. Lol unfortunately not really as far as i know. The kaiser suffered from the same problem.. a slight movement and the picture goes blurry.

on the dia100 you can remove the plastic lens on the battery cover. makes a good difference, but doesn't help with movement. i would like to know if you can adjust the shutter speed. i know nothing of how cameras work, but assume that would help with streaking/blur.
That's the kicker! If we can adjust shutter speed then all would be fixed. I own a few SLR and DSLR cameras and shutter speed changes everything, you can even make ghost pictures! could some one write a cab file for this? I am no programmer.
If you reduce the shutter speed then the picture will be too dark.... it stays open that long for a reason.
If you use the camera in daylight its 'fine' its becasue the apature/lens is soo small it cant get enough light... hence it has to stay open longer.
Try changing the settings (white balance) to see if that helps you.
If you use advanced config to get rid of all of the lag before the photo is taken and change the settings within the cameras white balance to something better (the 'light bulb' one works well) it shouldn't be too bad.
By simply changing the brightness level to -2.0 you will no longer have a blur - it's like changing the ISO on a camera and the FPS will jump by over 50%. check it out in full here: http://www.fuzemobility.com/decrease-the-blur-of-your-camera-really/
Hey thanks for that tip, works a treat, now can take pictures in low light a lot better...
yes, this makes a positive difference!
thanks that has made a big different to mine

Good tip!! +1
What you are doing is shortening the shutter speed / exposure time in the camera thus you get the frame increase. It's not the camera app lagging or anything.
If shutter/exposure was set to auto and you try to take pictures in a dark room it gets slow as the camera needs to compensate and take more time to collect the light to make a viewable image.
So don't go thinking this is a bug or anything

I agree - if they just stated that brightness = shutter speed I think we all would have changed it. Instead, it sounds more like saturation (just software chanes and not frame rate). It's not a bug but it is something that's not obvious to the end user and changing this setting has a huge difference in low light settings.
no its not a bug, but its bad engineering.
It was embarrassing to me as an owner of a $700 phone.
Great tip +1
Thanks!
can anyone post some sample images? I'd like to see what my 'soon-to-have' diamond will be able to do with some tweaking
there are some non hi-res photos here: http://www.fuzemobility.com/got-yellow-photos-fix-it/
here's a 7meg panaramic photo: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3123629&postcount=12
The Touch Pro/Fuze/Diamond have almost identical hardware (except for the keyboard of course)
hm, not too spectacular :/
no samples with the fix from this thread?
e fix merely ensures that there are no blurs in your photos - not that they are better photos. The camera is a 3mp camera and it's pretty good in fact. Let me see if I have any photos that are friendly on my phone But this fix doesn't make photos better - it solves a problem with the camera (and many camera phones) by reducing the blurriness you often get from movement.
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448093
ah, cool thx dude
it's good enough for a little phone like the diamond
I know you can take panoramic photo's with the camera on the phone by taking multiple photos..
But is there an app like on the Taylor swift commercial that you just sweep the camera around the room?
Not that I have seen, but why? That feature works perfectly in the camera, you don't really need an app for this.
I'm pretty sure its basically the same thing. The Samsung camera software just gives you a green box to follow and makes a camera sound when you reach it... you're still sweeping from left to right in real time.
Any way to get higher res panorama with the stock camera? The panorama is 640x480 photos stitched together.

The phone does this with the built in app. You can move the phone in a sweeping motion and it will take 8 sequential shots. This can be done in either landscape or portrait mode.
When sweeping the camera a green outline will appear in the area of the next shot to help you properly align the photo. When the outlined area is centered on the screen then the phone automatically captures the next image...wash, rinse, repeat.
I have been using this feature a lot lately since the pictures are gorgeous and it is awesome for group photos. A fun thing I like to do is have someone move along to the next shot and pose so you get a strange clone effect of one person throughout the scene.

Have you tried the action shooting mode? Does a very similar thing.
I too would like to see an app that used higher res images (640x480 really does not cut it)
I would also like to see something that could take 360 degree photos, not just moving the camera left to right but also up and down.
Well that's just the sensor setting, the final resolution will be much greater than that in one direction. Holding the phone vertically will give a nice photo. But I would like a 1080 vertical mode for my dual monitor setup and no black lines.

Yeah, but a panorama that's about 550px tall and has fairly obvious seams makes it less of a big falk that the phone stitched out all by itself. Oh well, if you want it nice you really need a camera with a proper mount, anyway, and preferably raw output, and striving on a computer...

I tried. I selected 'Shot & more' mode. Then took picture of a moving objects (I tried kids, vehicle etc).
The object was moving from one end of the frame to other. While taking the picture, I hold down the camera button.
Once the button is released, its starts 'processing'. When processing is completed, it displays the photo.
How much ever I try, I get only 'Best photo' and sometimes 'Eraser' options enabled.
Never Drama shot or Panning shot enabled.
Any idea how to get this working?

some interesting suggestions here - http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s5/381821-taking-drama-shot.html
As someone who posted in the forum linked above, I can tell you the advice you need is there. There are also lots of official guides for the S4 that will help with the S5 as well.

Had a chance to play with it again yesterday.
I was finally able to crack it.
What I was doing wrong: When the subject entered the frame, press the camera icon. Keep holding until subject exited the frame.
What need to be done: When subject enters the frame, tap on the camera icon. Like you do when taking normal picture. Don't hold it.
Camera will display 'Processing....'. I think its taking additional pictures at this time. Hence hold your camera study and don't change the frame.
Once camera completes processing, it will display the image with all options like Drama shot, Panning shot etc enabled.
Attached is my successful attempt from it.

Thanks so freaking much. Moving Subject MUST be in frame FIRST before you TAP ONCE. Do not HOLD or it will take burst shots and only offer "BEST SHOT" feature. Thanks so much i was getting so frustrated

Go to the link. i think it will help you.
Has anyone found a solution for the lag/motion blur when taking photos? Stationary shots are fine, but any movement of the subject and it's likely to blur, even in reasonable light. On top of this is the clear delay between pressing the button and the photo taking (motion picture does help with this slightly but still not ideal).
GCAM appears to be able to take quick shots with less blur, so I feel like it's not a hardware limitation? I would stick with gcam but obviously lacks the depth of shooting options of the stock camera
Aware pro mode could be used but I feel like auto should do the job well enough

Anyone?
it's a samsung thing. i have never had a samsung that did not do this. GCAM is a decent work around though. some people try the live picture setting, others try taking video and screenshotting the frame they want, there is a noticeable loss in quality doing that though.
