It's easy to do just follow the directions. The newest Oreo for our Sprint Variant is CQLB. 8.0.0, sammy experience 9.
Does hotspot work with shortcut master on oreo?

Nevermind I figured it out lol
There is a newer version of Oreo build for Note 8. Build CRA2. Running flawlessly on my Sprint Note 8. No issues what so ever.

Hey, I have been out of the rooting game for some time, but I was wondering if this phone can be unlocked and flashed with something like cyanogenmod? I have done research but can't find anything conclusive. Thanks!

I presume you are referring to the Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920T)?
If so then yes you can flash SU and TWRP via Odin and install a compatible ROM through recovery.
That's because the bootloader is not locked. Or at least at the moment with 5.1.1

Is this in regard to the T-Mobile model?

Yes. The T-Mobile S6 variant (SM-G920T) does NOT have a locked a bootloader at present.
The S7 however does and the suspicion (though unfounded at the moment) is that once T-mobile releases the Marshmallow update for the S6 it may lock the bootloader. Thus, it is probably going to be a good idea to wait on taking the Marshmallow update as soon as it is available (if root is desirable).
So will any normal Roms available for the standard GSM s7 work with the T-Mobile model? Also, is installing twrp as simple as something like a Nexus? I haven't been in the ROM game for a while, thanks for the help guys

There won't be any ROMs available for the S7 so long as the bootloader remains locked.

Sorry, I meant the s6, will I be able to install things such as cyanogenmod?

For the umpteenth time yes. You just need to make sure that whatever ROM you want to flash is compatible with the T-Mobile S6 variant (SM-G920T).
There is a T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Android Development forum here at XDA which will have a number of different ROMs to choose from as well as information and support for said ROMs.
Thanks man

Good suspicion. ..I thought of that right away myself thus why I returned my s7... The s6 with few tweaks is as nice in many aspects not all but suits my needs .

Yep. Really like my 64g S6 flat. And you are right, with a few tweaks it is a great device.
The 3 other carriers were eligible for the nougat beta, and only At&t was left out. Anyone else switch to the tmobile firmware to try and participate? Or any other carriers firmware?
I have another thread on this topic : http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-s7-edge/help/android-7-0-1-beta-t3496624
Someone on my thread said that they tried flashing the T-mobile firmware and they are no longer accepting people to beta test nougat so there is no option for us.
I managed to install the tmobile firmware, get registered, now it's just a waiting game. I can try and get the Ota from my system and upload it, sprint already has theirs extracted and vzw hasn't even rolled out yet.

So you have a ATT device with T-mobile software flashed waiting for beta update? I really wanted to try this out as well. let us know what's up.
Yes, I'm registered. Not sure if I'll get "selected" but I am successfully registered.

Who knows. I'd like to be an optimist here and say they already have the nougat working perfectly on the AT&T version there for no beta testing needed :fingers-crossed:
Verizon just stopped participation in the Beta. So no more Beta updates moving forward for Big Red.

Anyone in here updated to the Oreo update that leaked, able to connect to their gear devices?
I tried the update. But my gear watch won't connect via the gear app. I'm assuming because it's unfinished software.
Switched back to nougat for the time being.
Having the same problem on my Note 8 on that Oreo leak. Hopefully someone has an answer?
You're supposed to sideload the plug-in for he device

The Oreo builds are leaked and require you to be on specific builds of Android. I recommend that you do some research yourself and if you find yourself overwhelmed then you should hold off.

This was a while ago. I sideloaded the gear app and it fixed my connecting issue. But I eventually came back to nougat anyway for various bugs that I didn't want to deal with. I didn't use sammobile for anything. I used the links in another xda post. I believe it was the one about flashing carrier specific firmware. I used Odin to get back. Now everything has been as it was before I tried Oreo. It's been about a month, maybe longer since I've done all of this. I'm waiting g patiently for the official Oreo update. I hope that answers your question. If not, just ask.

Once it's released I'm sure there will be links to the firmware here, and it will also get pushed to your phone through OTA.

Unless you're on REALLY old firmware, like a year old, you can't root it anyway.
And no one has a link, because it hasn't been released yet.
And there isn't Verizon-specific firmware. That ended with Oreo when Samsung introduced BYOD firmware to the Note 8 firmware. Now all carriers push the same exact firmware.

As far as I know, I don't think it's possible bc the binaries dont match anymore. I tried to do that and it was a disaster.
I'm running DrKetans rom, its debloated. The battery life is similar to android 8.1 in my opinion.
But maybe someone else can chime in and give you different advice.

it's all on the boot loader version, you will not be able to downgrade to Oreo 8.1 but you should be able to downgrade to Android 9! But first you need to check your bootloader number and match that with downgrade firmware! it's the fifth number from right if your on bootloader 5 then you will not be able to downgrade as there is no Android 9 on fifth bootloader! But if your bootloader is 4 then you can downgrade with odin! See below as example!

yes, you can use LightROM by yash92duster
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/development/teamexykings-lightrom-t3838087
i am currently using this rom with "non modded" settings and it works great.. i was getting random reboots in "modded" settings.. the option is selectable in aroma installer.
hope this answers your question, have a great day
