The front panel on my Z3 Compact started coming off from the top left corner few weeks ago. I got a replacement adhesive from AliExpress today and I'm trying to figure out how to apply it. In all replacement videos, they remove the back panel too to disconnect the screen ribbon. Is it necessary if I'm only replacing the adhesive and keeping the same screen?
Also, how would I go about the repair? Remove the back panel, disconnect the screen ribbon, remove the front, put in the replacement adhesive, press in the screen, heat together, then reassemble the back using the same method?

Recently I added a screen protector to my Alpine, and after that the screen started acting funny any time it was left alone. Removing the screen protector has made no difference.
After a short while of not being used, the screen becomes misaligned, for example if I leave it off for an hour, attempting to activate the start menu on the today screen will result in one of the today items being pushed, or attempting to select a number on the password entry will result in a different number being pressed.
The strange thing is I can re-align the screen through the control panel, but it will slowly go back to the way it was.
Anyone got any thoughts? At worst, I'll just refund it (I bought it where I work, and thats no problem) and get another handset, but if theres a fix I'd prefer to stick with my current handset.
Cheers in advance for any help!
I am not sure about this, but I had the same problem with Motorola A1000 touch screen - could it be that an excessive pressure was applied to one of the sides of the digitizer during the application of screen protector? The digitizer is glued on the LCD, there might be a remote chance that it has slid a little to one side. Also some extra glue could have shortened the contacts on the bottom part of the digitizer. I would try to clean it first with some anti-static liquid. Hope this helps..
Indeed, this sounds like there could be more pressure to one side of the screen than the other, hence the digitiser tries to adjust for the pressure difference and gradually falls out of sync.
Try reapplying your screen protector, more gently than last time if possible, but don't wipe from side to side, wipe from top to bottom with an even pressure. Also, try realigning the screen with the protector off before reapplying it.
I had a problem with my screen originally before I got my screen protector, insofar as I got that 'rainbow' pooling effect in the centre of the screen where the digitiser was touching the LCD layer - after about a week after application of the screen protector, however, the more even layer of tension provided by the protector somehow pulled the digitiser away from the LCD layer, so my screen has actually gotten better since then... That said, I could imagine that uneven tension on the top layer could lift the LCD and digitiser layers further away from each other on one side than on the other, causing the problem you describe here. If you can bear to, try using the phone for a couple of days without the protective top layer applied, and see if the alignment gradually slips out as it's doing at the moment.
I've been using the phone for the past two days without the protective cover on. I'm going to reapply it now and then see how it goes tomorrow. If its still screwed, I'll reflash it to the O2 ROM and refund it at work on Tuesday.
Got a replacement, so no problem now. Thanks for the help anyhow
i've broken my kaiser screen and would like to use the software "my mobiler"
Hello ! My kaiser's screen is broken (touch screen out of order and i cant see anything on my screen) and i woud like to use this software on my phone: http://mymobiler.com/
Moreover i had a password on my phone and i donnot know if i can unlock my phone without using my touch screen. I would like to know if it's possible to install this software whithout using kaiser's touch screen and if it is, how i can do it because im lost...
Thanks a lot Bye.
Try and install Soti Pocket Controller over active sync. Press the left soft key at some stage to proceed with the cab install once it is transferred to the phone.
Or better still... buy a new phone or a new screen here

Nothing more to say really, thats about summed up this thread
Ive replaced a screen on a Kaiser already... Very easy to do.. (I should have taken pictures of the disassembly)...
Anyway, all you need to do is
1) flip the screen up
2) You will see 4 screws holding the screen assembly together. Remove these
3) Next, GENTLY prise of the front cover from the back cover.
(You will not be able to completely remove the front cover, as the board connector cannot be unplugged from the main board...
4) Once you have the screen front and back covers seperated, disconnect the LCD Connector from the Board.
5) Carefully push on the LCD screen to seperate it from the front cover.
6) Once the screen is seperated from the front cover, simply slide the damaged screen out between the SIM card, and main board wiring..
7) Replace the LCD panel, and reverse the proceedure...
Should take you about 30minutes to complete....
I bought the screen for $70au including postage... MUCH cheaper than buying a new Kaiser at over $1000Au a pop...
Lemme know if you need more detailed instructions.
Thanks for your answers!
Does this fix both touch screen and lcd or only lcd ?
Touch screen is cooked in the lcd. So if one of the two is broken, you have te replace the whole piece.
Hi, so I broke the screen on my X1 today its cracked in the left hand corner but on the inside of the screen. Just wondering how easy it is to replace and if this will work ok?
Cheers
Have you ever opened your X1 before?
There are probably some guides of how to do it, just search. That screen should work fine.
Cheers I have This should be ok
How did you get on? Did you manage to replace it?
I have cracked my screen (only slightly, but enought to want to replace). I have found that I can get a screen and digitizer on ebay for ~16 quid, or I could have it repaired professionally for (gulp) 85 quid.
Just wondered if you were successful, any pitfall, etc.
Cheers,
Joe.

Turns out I only cracked the screen cover (lens) - the LCD itself is fine. I have found a place online that will repair it for under £20. Happy! Sending it off tomorrow.

My power button on xperia z1 was very dirty and I decided to repair it, so i ordered a button today and I started to repair it myself! I did this because I thought that I'll be able to replace it easily because I've did some replacements on my previous mobile phones (Samsung). Now I'm stucked. I don't know how to open this and place buttons. Someone please tell me how to replace this button (Physical button) How to open this black strip ? Thanks in advance. Sorry for my broken english

You have to take the metal frame (google image "xperia z1" frame to see exactly what I'm talking about) out of the LCD frame (same advice). To do that, use a plastic opening tool (like the one you probably used to open the back plate) between the metal frame and the front plastic frame attached to it (my advice is to start at a side, it's the easiest).
However, do it very nicely, or you'll crack the screen or kill the LCD display !!
Just wondering if anyone here has had any luck replacing the front panel on the phone?
My phone took a drop yesterday and smashed the top corner, At first there was distortion on the screen and colour placement was wrong.
But after lifting the crack / broken glass part, it appears to have corrected itself.
This making me think its just the front Panel that is damaged.
replacing the screen is £150-£200 here in the UK
But replacing just the front panel is about £20
I know the phone is pretty much glued together, so has anyone had any experience or know of anyone who has successfully removed and replaced the front panel?
