USB-C Headphones on the Note 8 does not answer calls - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

I havent found any info on this directly on any of the forums.. But anyone tried using USB-C headphones/buds with their Note 8? My Xiaomi USB-C (with NC) ones just rocked up and tried it on the Note 8. Works fine with music and NC is working.. But no sound for voice calls? Tried VOIP calls too and depending on the method of VOIP, it may or may not work. Just seems Call does not route it to the USB-C as such but Media does.

I have the same issue as you bchliu. I own a pair of JBL Reflect Aware C usb-c headphones and they too work great while playing music, but voice calls are played through the internal speaker.
I wonder what we can do to resolve this?

Could be the model of headphone you got. I know some companies that where doing USB-C headphone would only work with certain phones. And some features wouldn't work either. I doubt JBL would do that, but you never know. Google a lil bit might find answer.
That's what kept me away from USB-C headphones. Sticking to jack and bluetooth. But I think USB-C may be the future for is multiple uses.

Why USB C Audio and /or calls do not work.
Its all about Digital vs Analog.
A phone either...
1. Converts both audio and voice to analog.
2. Converts only audio.
3. Converts neither.
Most phones only either do 2 or 3.
Now apparently, you can use a dongle for audio if your phone falls under #3, but idk why they have usb c voice disabled on the phone itself. Apparently the note 10 and newer ones support it though. They fall under #1

Recording sound with external mic?

Hello guys!
I m a very happy user of my diamond and this forum...
I was wondering if there is any application that would allow to record using and external mic , plugged in via a usb - 3,5mm jack for example.
Then i can stop carryin my Iriver h340 thats getting pretty heavy!
Isn t there a tool that can also update date and time automatically ?
Thanks in advance and big up for all the cookers!
As far as I know, the Notes application is able to record from an external mic just like the fixed mic. Just go to Menu > View Recording Toolbar.
There are several applications to sync the time, can't think of any off the top of my head.
The supplied headset has an external mic in it, you should be able to hack into it and solder on a jack socket, then plug in any mic. In theory you should also be able to do the same with a BT headset.
You need "synchrotime" to correct time and date via the internet.
these were quick answers!!
I was more thinking about recording rehearsals and concerts , so more like a dedicated application were u can choose the sample rate m and also the format for ex wave or mp3 plus a gain control...
ttttthhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnxxxxxxxxxxx
Pardon me for digging up old bones, but I've been searching for an answer to this for a bit now...
Like the OP asked, is there an app out there for recording audio from an external mic plugged into the 3.5mm jack? I own a Samsung Galaxy S (Fascinate) and know that the hardware side of this topic is covered.
The only "Notes" application I have is notebook. I have audio recorder, but that doesn't have any such settings to choose from an external audio source (and I've tried to see if it just switches to that source if it is plugged in, no luck).
This would make life so much easier for me if I could pull this off. I'd pay for a decent app that covered that.

In a twist to this question/ request.
I am and have been looking for an app also that will be able to utilize the external mic 3.5 mm jack to record audio to the built-in video application.
NATIVE! not hacked or Jerry-rigged. I tried this by plugging in a headset /mic to the external mic port on an EVO and HTC Incredible and it still seemed to use the regular mic on the phone not the 3.5 mm jack.
I'd like to use my incredible/ EVO/ (and rumored HTC Incredible HD) to be able to connect a lapel mic with transmitter and receiver so audio sounds local without echo from a distance.
Plus I could have 2 people miced up and one video camera.
There is no reason why this shouldn't work.
We are not talking power just software access.
If the notes apps uses it to record why can't the video app use the same port.

Way to record audio on Android using external mic
Hi.
You have to buy adapter which will split the signal for microphone in and audio out (you probably know 3.5 jack in your phone is 2 directional as it supports headset with mic)
You can try to look for it on Amazon (headset buddy)
or solder into headset in the pins which are responsible for mic signal.
Then,
I know only 1 app for android which supports recording from external microphone:
Arabela Audio Recorder - choose DEFAULT audio source and it should catch the signal from external mic connected through adapter via 3.5 jack.
I THINK it can catch the audio while recording video because it works in background ... so later you will be able to remove the audio from video recording and join it with the one you recorded using Arabela with some kind of video editor
regards
If you need a adapter for the phone, then check what i did here in this thread:

There are also link to a app which can record video with the external microphone

I think any mic with 4 pole jack should work without any adapters. Like the one's used on iphones etc. Check on ebay for iphone microphone. I ordered a cheap one $1.80 just to test on my SGSII but im 99% it's going to be working. There are some high quality for about $30 as well. Like this one HERE

Problem with phone calls over car aux

I hate making new threads but I can't seem to find an answer. Maybe I'm using the wrong keywords.
I use my N1 in my car alot. It's my main source for my music and hand's free calling while driving. I use the aux jack on my stereo to the N1 for music.
When I get a call it would ring though the speakers and I would touch the slider to accept the call. The caller would hear me crystal clear and I would hear them though the speakers just fine.
Now when I get a call, they can't hear me. They say I sound like I'm far far away. I can hear them just fine. But I look like a madman in my car screaming and yelling just to be heard.
So what I have to do now, is answer the call, and touch speaker, which only plays the voice though the speaker phone. They hear me crystal clear but sound is no longer going to the car speakers.
Anybody have this problem or know what's causing it or even a push in the right direction?
I have this excact same problem.
I came from a milestone using a standard 3.5mm audio jack and calls went really well. But when i tried my nexus, i got the same response, "sounds liek your far away".
I tried a few AUX cables but they all seem to do the same thing. So my solution was a aux cable with a built in mic.
I ended up modding the headphones that came with my nexus to get this working. Removed the earbuds and soldered a 3.5mm jack.
Now when i talk using that cable with a built in mic, ppl hear me very clearly. So i've jsut been using that cable since. I'm sure you can buy a premade aux cable with a mic at any local mobile audio store. I saw one at a BestBuy mobile here.
Hope this helps.
but the issue is that at one point it DID work normal with his nexus. i think what is going on here is the phone originally read the aux input as just standard audio output. but now its reading it differently somehow, i just dont know why. its almost like the difference when a phone thinks you have headset connected vs audio out connected with no mic support. no idea on a solution though...

I was thinking on buying the Belkin one with the mic right at the aux jack.

Exactly, it DID work. I can't pin point when it happened for me. I was thinking maybe it was when I went from Eclair to Froyo?
I'm almost positive that using the phone over Aux out broken with the update to Froyo. Has anyone tried this yet with Gingerbread on the N1 or with an NS? I'm hoping they fixed this, it's a really, really frustrating problem.
My fear is that everyone at Google got free car docks so they won't ever fix it because it's never a problem for them.
I also have the exact same problem. Thought it never worked for me, I only recently sets up my car mount with aux. Anybody found a solution?

Bluetooth audio transmitter recommendations?

Hi,
I have a rather old Sony hifi at home and I'd like to transmit music wireless to it. My gf has an old iPod (no BT) which I'd like to connect as well.
The thing is I don't know how to achieve that. There are audio transmitters that use 3.5mm stereo jacks like this:
h t t p : / / w w w .e b a y . c o m /itm/Universal-HiFi-Audio-Music-Bluetooth-A2DP-3-5mmStereo-Dongle-Adapter-Transmitter-/261137567697?pt=US_USB_Bluetooth_Adapters_Dongles&hash=item3ccd030fd1"]
I plan to buy 2 of these. Connect one to my audio receiver and the other to the iPod. I then plan to pair my N7100 and the iPod with the transmitter connected to the audio receiver. Would that work? Do these kind of devices work both ways (receive/transmit)? Can I pair such devices with multiple devices to be used at different times?
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

This is what I have. I would recommend it for your Note II in particular because it supports Apt-X as well as AD2P. Apt-X is a much higher quality codec for Bluetooth audio, and seeing as how you plan to use this with a decent stereo system, I wouldn't skimp out by using a cheapo $10 AD2P adapter...
Thank you for your answer. The one you have seems to be RX only. I know that there are a lot of alternatives for that. I've never heard how apt-x compressed music sounds but I heard of it. I bet the difference would be much greater when listening thru a decent hifi system but I doubt that I'll be able to distinguish it from standard BT compression given the age of the audio receiver I am using.
So my question still remains to be answered. A universal(3.5mm all around) and preferably cheap solution that I can use between 2 audio devices that don't have BT.. a receiving unit which preferably can handle multiple paired devices in different times.. and if possible.. a solution that one has implemented successfully
p.s.: Belkin and Logitech have audio receivers that I can get but for the sending unit I don't know what I should go with since these units are RX only. I see that Ebay carries some RX/TX units which can change transmission mode though I don't know how that is possible...

The HM3000 which I recommended to you is not just RX only. The one you listed is. The HM3000 has a mic for standard phone use TX/RX use.
The product you listed, only receives BT audio from one device, and outputs that audio to a 3.5mm jack. Nothing else.
The HM3000 can pair with multiple devices (but only playback from one at a time).
Even though the 3.5mm jack on the HM3000 is a female connector, you can change that really easily with one of these, or something similar.

hi
can the hm3000 skip tracks with music?
AptX is the only way to go. Don't bother with any cheaper ones that don't have this codec. You can tell the difference EVEN through really bad ear buds, nevermind speakers.
Avantree Saturn supports both tx and rx. Or above mentioned are fine also

I have a QED uPlay Puck plugged into my Hi-Fi (I'm too new to post URLs here, sorry).
It's mains powered and Rx only, so would be no good for a car, but might fit the OP's needs. It supports multiple devices - I've paired it with my desktop and laptop (both using plain old SBC compression) and my Note II (apt-X), and I can switch between the three seamlessly (disconnect Bluetooth on one device and connect it on another).
Sound quality is great, especially from the Note II (I use with with Spotify's "Extreme Quality" streaming setting).
If you wanted to connect an iPod, you can get apt-X adapters for those too. Sennheiser make a fairly decent one called the BTD 300i.
Hope that helps

Audio Out via USB, alternative solutions?

Hi,
I got used to Samsungs CarDock mode which allowed to charge the phone and play music through USB port directly to my car stereo (no BT,:crying: ). I used the iBolt XProDock ( here ) which is amazing.
Now I have the M8 and figured out that analog output is not on board. So I am looking for a solution:
a) A BT-receiver for my car audio, optimally charged with max 5.0 V via USB plug)
b) Any digital to analog converter (dac?), but not too much gadgets to be supplied with power and cables
c) A second earphone-cable ?
d) A software solution to get analog sound from USB?
Any suggestions?

BT FM Transmitter it also charges phones at 1A
If you have an AUX input, get a stereoclip.. Uses APT-x codec for cd+ quality sound. Lasts about 6 hours on a charge.
http://www.amazon.com/HTC-Bluetooth...qid=1396896640&sr=8-1&keywords=htc+stereoclip
APT-X Bluetooth codec actually sounds better than USB analog audio output. No engine noise or light clicks/background noise going on.
And it's a much higher quality than normal Bluetooth.
BUT, some apps are not yet APT-X friendly.
Utter being one of them if I remember correct.

Sorry, how could that affect the idea of APT-X in my car? The One M8 works with APT-X, and when the BT-receiver also does, shouldn't any music player work fine? I use Player Pro, and this app works fine over regular BT. Is there a difference with APT-X?

Like I said, "some apps".
Yes, APT-X is handled differently somehow.
All music players I've tried have worked just fine though.
I think it's more "voice controlled" bluetooth related apps that sometimes have problems.

ok, nothing that botheres me.
I will try the BT-Solution.
Update 15.04.2014:
I bought a tiny BT-Receiver / (even with transmitter, which I don't need), here.
Works like a charme. Thnx for your advice!
Apt-x
APT-X cannot be used with just any device. In order to get full potential from apt-X you need to have AAC audio files which the HTC one m8 support and will give you much better sound then mp3. Also APT-X can only be used if the speakers support apt-X as well as the phone. If your phone supports apt-X but your speaker or stereo does not then the APT-X will not work. There are only a handful of speakers and stereos that support APT-X. But like I said APT-X supports audio at a higher bit-rate, then standard Bluetooth, and higher then a docked iPod. For good audio performance you need both a phone/player, and speaker/stereo that support APT-X on both ends, and you might want to load some songs from a CD in AAC format onto your computer to give you that CD quality sound, or buy some songs from HDtracks.com , to play using APT-X. But also the HTC one M8 should have gotten the lollipop 5.1 update which supports usb audio/host. So I would check and see if you have lollipop 5.1

Samsung Galaxy Camera External wireless microphone

Hello everyone.
I need some help.
I have a Galaxy Camera I use to record press conferences.
Sometimes I can not be near to the speaker and the audio is low.
I have a very limited budget and can not buy an external microphone professional.
I tried to use Btmono and a bluetooth headset, but the camera app only uses the microphone of the machine. If I install a voice recorder, still works perfectly coupled Btmono and bluetooth headset.
I have seen that there are transmitters and receivers bluetooth with 3.5mm attack, but I do not know if it will work; in case I have no idea how I could connect everything.
Do you have suggestions?
Thank you all for any suggestions
You can just use an inexpensive RF mic system like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Pyle-Pro-PDWM...410100237&sr=1-1&keywords=wireless+microphone
To connect it to your Galaxy Camera, you'll need a 6.5mm to 3.5mm adapter:
http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-3-5mm-Stereo-6-35mm-Adaptor/dp/B003R70OA4/ref=pd_bxgy_MI_img_z
And then you'll also need this adapter since the mic port on the Galaxy Camera is a combo headphone/mic port:
http://www.kvconnection.com/product-p/km-iphone-mic.htm
Clip the mic and transmitter somewhere close to the speaker (podium?) and plug the receiver with all the adapters into your Galaxy Camera. Should work pretty well for under $50.
I also use an inexpensive knock-off "shotgun" mic which provides a very directional mic function, even in a crowd. You would need the km iphone mic adapter above to use this mic on your Galaxy Camera as well.
http://www.amazon.com/TAKSTAR-Photo...qid=1410101048&sr=8-1&keywords=takstar+sgc598
Hope this helps -- good luck.

But not this

The result was that virtually did not work; so now I'll try to do that too and then purchase'll let you know if it all works.

I have not uploaded any videos from my Camera 2 yet because I literally just bought it the other day. However, after seeing your question and knowing that I would want to use my wired lapel mic as well as my shotgun mic the Camera 2 for my son's YouTube videos, I bought the KVConnection iPhone mic adapter, received it, and tested it with my shotgun mic and it works perfect. If you haven't ordered it yet, I chose the one with the right-angle plug rather than the straight plug and I'm glad that I did.
