Hello,
I have had a problem with my phone not showing me the voicemail notifications ever since I updated to Oreo.
The Voicemail logo on the dialer (fourth option) disappeared and there is no option anywhere to be found.
I realized 2 weeks late that I had over 10 voice messages when calling the voice mailbox completely randomly. This is unacceptable and can have really unfortunate consequences.
I was on Orange (FR) and had to resort to disabling "visual voicemail" and had them send an SMS everytime I had a voice message, but now I'm on Bougues Telecom (FR) and they do not allow this option.
The trick on Orange was to install the MVV app that magically made the voicemail logo reappear on the dialer, but the MVV app for Bouygues keeps complaining that i need to be in France for it to work. Being in Paris I think I am in France
Did anyone have similar problems since the Oreo update?
Kind regards.
I Have got the same issue.
Visual voicemail not working and I receive no notification for new message incoming in voicemail. I'm using ORANGE (FR) too.
I have already post this comment on the OB19 Oreo forum with no luck.
It was working before on beta nougat rom.

You can "fix" it on Orange by either disabling Visual Voicemail from the web interface, then you will receive an SMS for each message left.
Or you can install the app "Messagerie Vocale Visuelle" Orange and it will make the fourth option on the dialer magically reappear.
I think the Visual Voicemail API was completely revamped on Oreo:
https://www.xda-developers.com/visual-voicemail-android-oreo/
Apparently, the problem seems to happen on Sony devices too:
https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xper...mail-is-gone-after-latest-update/td-p/1252422
Either OnePlus/Sony failed to implement it properly, or the whole API is fubar. My 2 cents.
Either way, I had to force Bouygues to disable visual voicemail and now I receive an SMS for each message left.
It's silly, but still better than missing dozens of messages.
Damn! Same thing here. Updated my OP3 to Oreo and my voicemails notifications are gone.

Hey there,
I am not sure when I actually lost it, but my phone is not displaying SMS when they come from my provider's voicemail in order to inform me about missed calls. I know they somehow come through as I use a web synchronisation (MightySMS) that displays the messages that arrive at my phone, including voicemail notifications via SMS (not Visual Voicemail, of course). This is both with the standard and a custom SMS app. The last SMS notification of a voicemail I can find on my device is from Oct 2013. Is this some known problem, maybe with Android 4.4? I don't suppose it's 4.4 since we didn't have had 4.4 back in October last year, as far as I remember. Any thoughts?
Edit: I am running Carbon, a CM11-based ROM, but had this before on other CM11 and possibly Sense ROMs.
Best

Is there no-one with an idea or the same problem? Since they go through on my online sync I'd assume they arrive at the phone, but are never shown, so I'd rule out a problem with my carrier.
Hey guys,
Having an issue with my OnePlus 3T on Project Fi. Since I started using the phone I have not been able to receive Voicemail Notifications. I tried to fix the issue with a suggestion from the forums, which suggested that I go into the SIM settings and turn off visual voicemail, but when I went into the settings that option was not even there. To work around this I've simply been using Hangouts for my Voicemail and SMS, but with Google doing away with Carrier SMS in less than a month I've begun the process of moving to a new SMS option and plan to do away with Hangouts. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get notifications for Voicemail's back on my OnePlus 3T? Thanks!
So I have an unlocked note 8 from samsung that i'm using on Verizon. Had it about a week and just noticed that I have not received any notifications of missed calls or if I have a voice mail message. I'm not talking about visual voice mail, just plain old basic voicemail. There should be a notification along the top that I have a voice mail. I called *86 and I had a bunch of messages but never received a notification.
Is there a setting I missed? I can't find anything for these.
Thanks
You have two options:
One, go to the website, log in, under Products and Services find Blocks, go to Service Blocks and block off visual voice mail and premium visual voicemail. You'll have basic voice mail only and the notifications should start coming to your phone.
Two, forward unanswered calls to Google Voice. You get a great Google app and you get transcribed voice mails, a feature that Verizon charges $2.99 for in "premium" visual voice mail.
Thanks. I called verizon to see if that was it. I asked that specifically and they said they couldn't turn it off visual voice mail. She turned of an ims setting (I don't know which one) and now I have notification back.
Interesting. I just called Verizon and they said because I have an unlocked phone that I also bought from Best Buy the phone didn't come with the Verizon software on it and I won't be able to get any vm notifications as a result.

You have to login to your MyVerizon and disable both visual voicemail and premium visual voicemail . Just like odesskiy said and then it will go old school and send you a msg with the little logo that you have voicemail. Worked perfectly!!! Glad I went unlocked.
Can someone help me and I am on Sprint and tried calling them no help. Just got an unlocked Note 8 and in my notifications window it says 4 new VM dial *86 and it won't let me get rid of it will not go away. I am using You Mail and have never used Sprints VM but I am thinking when I restored my phone from the backup maybe it downloaded something but I don't see any voicemail app I see the voicemail icon up top in the corner and when I pull down my notifications I see this 4 new voicemails dial *86 and I can swipe it to get to a setting which is just about hiding or blocking phone notification and then I see the phone icon. I've gone under apps and advance apps I was at some screen where I saw the *86 in there forgot how I got there but even still I can't get this notification to go away. Samsung had me do a few things also. I don't want to have to reset my phone just for that. But I googled my question and it took me here. I never used Sprint's VVM but do I still need Sprint to block it it's not on my phone unlocked phones don't have it unless I have regular VM somewhere but I can't find it to make this go away from my notification screen. Thanks!
It didn't work for me.

I blocked the " visual voicemail" then when I blocked the "premium visual voicemail" it automatically unblocked the "visual voicemail". So, I tried to block the visual voicemail again and it unblocked the premium visual voicemail. Seems only one can be blocked at a time--in my instance anyway. I didn't get any messages.
Same for me on my note 8 . Just switched from Verizon to Sprint because they had 5 lines unlimited for 100 bucks and 10gig each phone hotspot. Can find regular voicemail icon to put a shortcut on my phone? Been on Sprint tech support but don't see how on this unlocked note 8..still love the phone
Hi, I have the same issue on my unlocked note 8 regarding voicemail notification. I just spoke to a Verizon agent, had her block my premium visual voice mail, call me on another line to leave a voice mail and finally got a notification that I have a missed call and a new voice mail. I hope this helps as a Real Estate agent not having voice mail notification is bad news! I'm beyond grateful to see that notification again.
I have an unlocked Note8 and Verizon. Been missing my voicemail notifications and can't install the verizon voicemail app... with instructions above, I called Verizon Support and asked them to turn off the Visual Voicemail feature I've been paying for the last 10 years because I had a new unlocked phone that doesn't support it... not branded Verizon phone... So, support said they turned the feature off, and to reboot my phone. I rebooted, then got a text saying that Touch ID has been enabled for my phone, then from another phone, I called myself and left a message. I got a notification! And, the notification came with a link to click and install a their voicemail app, the blue one with the recorder icon... not the red one. It does everything I want, shows caller ID, or phone number, and click to play messages... easy delete. Perfect!

I'm not on the same carrier but I failed to get it to work properly with mine I could get notifications and call I'd but no actual message.
For t-mobile this has been "broken" for months.
From the web it seems that T-Mobile dropped support for the built in visual voicemail. You have to use their app and well it doesn't work ever for me. It doesn't sync, or notifies, and constantly throws error saying we can't access voicemail please dial voicemail instead.
This just means my voicemail is now never ever checked.
Sign up for a Google voice. Set the phone calls to forward to the number if you are not available. Use it for voicemail. It will transcribe and email them to you.
Att's app sucks also. I miss my built in from Windows mobile 10 and this was the next best things.
All,
Got an unlocked S21U, ported from VZW to T-Mo, installed the T-Mo voicemail app, but I keep getting a VM notification from the app AND the phone dialer itself. I don't see any way to mute it. Am I missing something? Can't see a way to fix it.
Any ideas what I am "missing" by not having T Mo firmware?
Thanks
Can you download visual voicemail? I used to have that problem on another phone but when i installed visual voicemail i was able fix the problem.

Sorry, yes, I did and it works, but now I get two notifications for each voicemail, one from the phone, and one from the TMo VVM app.

Are all of the voicemails deleted from the visual voicemail app? If so, i would call T-Mobile next .
Can't you simply disable phone app voice mail notifications?I use google voice for my visual voicemail and I believe I disabled notifications for voicemail notice dialer

Alas I do not have the option to silence the native phone dialer voicemail
Ever since I disabled the Samsung Phone app, visual voicemail hasn't worked at all for me. I have to dial my own phone number to access my voicemail the old-school way... It kinda stinks, but I just hated the Samsung phone app for its lack of calling over LTE whereas Google Phone still worked fine with calls over LTE (and had my blocked number list saved from when I had the Pixel prior to this phone).
I forward my calls if not answered to google voice which transcribes my VM so I have native visual voicemail instead of paying tmo for their version of vvm
