I had the Z1compact, the Z3compact and the X compact and now the XZ1 compact.
On the first devices, I had the camera app (as part of the Sony camera app) where I was able to make one photo with doing the front camera a small window and the back camera the big picutre. With the x compact, I thought, the device is probably to slow, but also on the XZ1, I cannot find the app - I also searched the app store. Does anybody know, if this app still exists?

I've searched for it, not available in Play Store anymore.
Wasn't successful with installing the version of my Z3c on the XZ1, even tried to deodex and re-sign the app, no chance.

Because they never update this app since... Android 6?
I think you can find the apk installation file googling

Like the title says.. Do you think that the xperia Z1 interface will come on the Z with the 4.3 update?
I like the z1 interface a lot more than the Z one.. and I really hope that they will put it on the Z also..

just looked at some screenshots. looks pretty neat! but unfortunately, I'm way too lazy for stuff like this. that's also why I've waited until a one-click root-tool was available for the Xperia Z. : D
Pff.. is more pure.. more minimalistic.. it fits more with the phone design..
I really like it more.. and I hope they won't act crazy and leave the Z as it is.. Srlsy that won't be fair
Z1 interface:
-the app windows are more clean
-the settings menu is white and nice
-you can add other shortcuts to notifacation bar.. like brightness

The difference is big between the two devices, Z1 has a better feel, more robust, better interface. Z looks cheap now that I compared both. Really, completely different smartphone.

For deodexed roms yes but for the stock odexed roms I never have seen.

i really don't understand why nearly everybody is so keen for the z1 ui. watched a couple of youtube-vids, screenshots, threads...
i think there's nothing special with this ui, and no big deal compared to the "original" z ui. compared to e.g. miui i even think z1 ui is less attractive.
or am i missing something brilliant within this ui
It's new and most people, me included like adding new things to their device. It's some kind of thrill for me.

It's much cleaner.. and I played with a z1 and it's much more responsive.. maybe cause of CPU also.. but i like the cleaner look and the white settings menu

I have recently switched from Xperia mini pro to SP.
One thing that I need but can't find is the ability to control the Walkman with volume controls, which I used everyday on my previous phone.
Is there a way to enable it on SP?

I'm wondering if an app like the "camera+" (iPhone) could be port to Android?
I tried a similar app which is available for Android called "Camera Awesome". But the feature I'm looking for didn't work for me.
I want to separate the exposure and focus when I take a picture.
Is there any way to get this to work? Or an alternative, perhaps?

The changelog of 4.4.4 says the camera was improved or something. But I can't see any changes.
And does it affect only the stock camera?

Sony infamously never release changelogs....
So we'll never know what has been modified. That's bad.
Why do they keep the information in the back? I want to know what improvements they made before I update their product.

Nothing bih or major...
Actually, Sony gives changelog but not detailed like we expect.
You can find what's new on sony.mobile when you select your device and find latest firmware build.
My guess would be that they optimised code, nothing major.
If they did something really interesting they would told us in every occasion they have

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the Z1 camera even better. For example the noise. Do you think Sony would be able to reduce the noise the camera makes? That would be an awesome update.

They are constantly working on that but low light photos are still bad, even on Z2.
True, in Z2 low light photos are better on manual settings but that must be better...
We will see....Sony knows how to build goid camera and camera firmware/software so I'm quite sure they will do their best to bring best software thet can - we have great hardware but we need code optimisation and image processing to be better...

The reason that you see a lot of noises is because the image processing. They push the sharpness too high.
I think the real problem is they don't make all manual option like picture mode able to work in higher resolution than 8mp. iso only up to 800 and more. Itwould be awesome if we have option like in nokia cam app.
I hope at least they let us shoot RAW file. Im kinda hopeless about official 4k and 120fps now. sigh
The optimization for the cam will be minimal. But you should see a difference.

The sharpness? When I take a look at the pictures from the iPhone 4, they are pretty sharp without much noise. I don't get it. Why does Sony bring a new device like the Z2 out instead of improving the Z1 as much as possible? Even the Z2 has problems with the noise.
I'm sure they won't give us the official 4k and timeshift. And the ability to use RAW images will be added to the Z2 or 3.

If you use lightroom you will know why pushing sharpness too much cuase it. I don't know hot to explain because I am not professional but I often use lightroom for adjusting picture and I had experienced this problem by pushing sharpness too high so I guess it is.
Sorry for my bad language.
Camera in 4.4.4 starts faster and It doesn't freeze or crash like in 4.4.2.
I don't know about the quality though.

The Image quality greatly deteriorates when you update to 14.4.A.0.108 (4.4.4) comparing it to .761, version 761 photos are only grainy when I updated to 14.4.A.0.108 the Photos I capture are already showing noise its just like the Image quality when you unlock your bootloader I hope this issue will be fixed in the next update
I can't see any changes relating to the quality of the images. But wait...if my bootloader is open, the quality decreases?

Yes, the DRM keys will be gone due to the bootloader being Unlocked the image quality is Horrible but I think the other sony features is still present I'm not sure what are those but I'm sure the picture quality really is bad

I have an unlocked bootloader and my pictures are perfectly OK, exactly the same as before I unlocked the boot

This is a great, big question for many users of C6903: if the quality of the camera is the same for locked and unlocked bootloader. But opinions are different. Finally I believe in your answer, being a name on XDA developers. Thanks.
Xperia Z1, rooted, unlocked bootloader, JB (KitKat brings me nothing, maybe troubles with camera!!!)

get an image with a black background and a lot of colors. turn x reality on, you can notice a bit of a boost in the saturation.

I use the Sony album app I wouldn't call it useless but that depends on if you use their apps or not i suppose
