Scope: Full merge from U11 cleanslate upstream functionality
No root privilege is needed, just an unlocked phone with twrp.
The companion and configuration apps work without rooting.

Installation:
0. TWRP - backup boot partition
1. TWRP flash zip
2. reboot, install both CleanSlate Companion and Configuration apps:
2. ---- APKs from internal storage (copied by installer) or purchase/install from playstore for supporting the dev with some coffee/beer money and most probably next HTC device to develop for
3. Start companion App, grant permissions, leave it running (should start on each reboot by itself, but it's worth starting manually, it's quicker)
4. Start Configuration app, grant permission, configure to your liking and don't forget to press Save button (disk icon)

I tried and on boot external SD message comes up asking to format and erase to fix it. It won't even show up in root explorer. Other than that no other issues I've seen so far

Hmm, meh, there's some kind of incompatibility maybe between kernel source published and the texfat of the rom.
What base is the rom thus texfat on?
Also is Wi-Fi working on the compiled kernel?

Great. Basically /system/lib/modules/texfat.ko and wlan.ko
Their names should be something like that.
Maybe /system/lib64/modules/...
You could also try copying them to your current system if that's fine and see what happens.. I think texfat / wlan modules should work then (matching the symbol signatures of the source released by htc).

Thanks! Well, before that consider this:
If it works we can just create an installer zip that overwrites those.
I fear that there might be issues with Wifi calling on TMo if the wlan module is not the one provided, so that should be checked as well.

copied the ones from us unlocked and did not work. Not sure whatit could be.maybe I should rezip the rom with those in and flash and see. Also wlan.ko is named qca_cld3_wlan.ko and it's located in system/vendor/lib/modules/qca_cld3/qca_cld3_wlan.ko isn't that odd?

Make sure that the permissions and groups are matching after overwrite. That could be a problem for loading the modules. Probaly yeah, rezip could help because the installer script sets the permissions best.
And the qca_cld3 is okay, that's the qualcom name of the module.

I don't feel it as waste. I like to cooperate and bring good stuff to other people. Even if I don't own it, it's still fun to try to help.

- Must be running the 39a bootstack (if not see step below)
- Have to have booted the 39a update at lease once from xdabbeb HERE
- Make sure you're running a proper working Recovery (TWRP 2.8.5.1 Preferred)

Like the OP states... This is AOSP.... and No. Updating firmware will not make it magically happen... There is still a lot of code to merge in for such features.. The purpose of this tread is to help spread the word to other Dev's that there is other sources out there that can be built from. This is just a taste of what this source can do..

I usually run a very vanilla KK ROM and so I just had to try this as my first lollipop ROM..

I can't confirm NFC because I have nothing to test with, but I just tested the stock FFC with both pic and video without issue.
Personally, I find the Google camera has a few more features. Maybe try that?

Just tested both Front and Rear camera and video with the app built with the ROM and no FC. As far as NFC well I gotta look into some of the updated commits made on it from other trees. Don't use the feature never have.

Trying to change Wallpaper from Settings will crash Settings app since the "Theme Center" application is removed.

Requirements:
You need to be on the latest updated ROM('cause I haven't tested it with previous versions).
Unlocked bootloader, well the ROM does have one for "S144" along just in case.
Install TWRP permanently, and for that follow this guide...
After installing TWRP make sure you make a backup of the current ROM.
Also make sure TWRP doesn't lock the screen by going off, 'cause then you won't be able to unlock it. Don't know why.
You need to know how to flash the ROM from QFIL if anything goes severely wrong. This can be of use then!
If you get something else, I'll try helping you out, but if the issue is beyond my help, kindly do not blame me...

Important Notes:
In case you get your device bricked, I'm not the guy whom you should be blaming, cuz it happens. Nothing to worry, just flash the ROM again, if the problem persists then kindly restore the backup you made.
Typical bugs of "S217" update can be noticed.
If you find any issues then do notify me.
I've removed many Lenovo apps. Also replaced some with latest versions.
This ROM acts as a backup ROM for any testers too. So while on this ROM, if anything goes wrong no need to do a factory reset again, simply flash it directly.

Flashing Guide:
The ROM flashing is simple as any other ROM flashing method.
Download the ROM from the link below.
Copy the ROM to External SD Card.
Reboot to TWRP recovery, by powering off the device completely then hold volume rockers + & - together and press the power. Keep the combo pressed until the screen turns on and the screen flicks.
If the recovery says mount the system read-only at startup, then swipe the slider, otherwise proceed to the next step.
Now from recovery, do a factory reset.
Then go back to home and flash the update by navigating to the "/external_sd/x3a40_6.0.1_update-2.zip"
Wait for the flashing to complete.

Everything working for me .. No problem just take a while to get started after the xposed

Yeah I made a search on it too. Seems Lenovo won't be providing any update with VoLTE support at the moment. Hope it does come ASAP... . Perhaps there may be another way, we'll get to know it soon I believe...

If you have based your ROM on chinese version of STOCK, then it would have VOLTE. There was a chinese user on english lenovo forum that mentioned that they have VOLTE on chinese version of X3's ROM.
If the base is on STOCK International then it won't have VOLTE.

Temporary patch up for that, if you're in India & are using Reliance Jio then, the solution would be to use Jio4GVoice app from the play store.

Well so far I'm loving it. Everything seems to be working fine, thank you again chevyrhoads. Themes are working great also. The only thing so far is the camera works but it's not full screen. If you want to take a picture you have to touch to the left of what ever function you are trying to use. So far that's all I see. Will report more if it arises.

So Far installed well, everything seems to be working, took a while for gallery/video to catch up from SD card (256g) ---
Running Titanium backup restore (app only) about 90 apps restoring and will give more information as this process finishes..

That looks like the menu you get when flashing a N910F ROM with louforgiveno's data fix. From what I gather there's something modded in the build.prop that causes that.
If I get a chance I'll take this for a spin tomorrow.
Oh... @chevyrhoads... you might want to put in the OP what bootloader one should be on to use this ROM. Not that people actually read the OP or anything. I can't wait for the first idiot to ask whether he can dirty flash this.

if you go into build prop.....towards the bottom you'll see the line: ro.build.scafe=americano
change that line to ro.build.scafe=capuccino
if you check my last post you'll see the power menu that I have on my phone after changing that build prop line, it's dark because of my theme.

BOOT TO THE RECOVERY/TWRP
WIPE DATA, SYSTEM AND THE CACHES
FLASH A AOSP OS/ROM/FIRMWARE/KERNEL
GO TO THE REBOOT MENU AND SELECT RECOVERY
FLASH THE PATCH BEFORE BOOTING INTO THE SYSTEM
REBOOT TO THE SYSTEM NOW. THE FIRST START MAY TAKE SOME TIME
And that's it. If You don't want to flash a new ROM, just choose the Clean or Full Wipe within the Patch.

This is made for AOSP and needs to be flashed on a clean ROM install like stated in the Third Post. Stock may work, but i'll not support it since it would took to many Changes sometimes what could breaks other Devices. AOSP ensures that all of the included Features and Functions are working as intended. But it may also happen that badly ported AOSP ROMs have Problems. In this case are the ROM Devs asked... My Axon 7 as example has some Bugs on AOSP which are getting fixed due to the Patch. This is another Case so testing and reporting is highly appreciated! More Feedback ends in a better PATCH.

The PATCH is made for AOSP as stated on the first Post. No chance that i'll fix Bugs on Stock which are working correct on AOSP. But You may have luck with V1.6 which comes in 2 Days. There where some LG G5 configs left which i've cleaned Out. Some of them where about LG Bluetooth. So i'll suggest use AOSP or wait for V1.6 which may end with the same Problem...
And don't get Me wrong, i know there is a lot of Text but reading should be done before writing...
Aquarios is AOSP. Sorry for not clarifying but what I meant in stock was flashing the patch over aquarios and keeping everything close to default as possible. Not stock rom

Bluetooth works perfectly fine on Aquarios without the patch. But I am using the US997 and aquarios is the only AOSP ROM out for the us997

I made a backup of the problem but was unable to restore it. Backup failed to restore. But I'll wait and see if 1.6 of the patch has the same problem to provide a log then

Installation Guide
Firstly install CleanSlate configuration and CleanSlate companion apps on your phone (both found down below in Download section). Set them up initially.
Copy unzipped hosts_k file to your sdcard (/sdcard/hosts_k) for k.adaway functionality in Chrome browser
- Non-rooted method: 0. download the non-rooted boot img
1. reboot to bootloader (adb reboot-bootloader)
2. temporary boot cleanslate_x.y.z_stock_20xx-xx-xx.img (fastboot boot cleanslate.......img)
3. if everything went fine, you can reboot to bootloader and flash the image: fastboot flash boot cleanslate.......img
4. reboot, enjoy
- Rooted method: 0. download the installer zip
1. install magisk and a capable kernel manager like EXKM/FrancoKernel
2. flash the cleanslate installer zip from the kernel manager
3. reboot, enjoy

Please try again, yes, hopefully it's something that will be already gone. I don't think that the proximity sensor should have changed between op8pro and op8t to be honest.
I don't see signs of that in the kernel source drop... no calibration files or anything that might have an effect.

Already flashed, now is all fine.. dunno what is happened but it was completely broken, now is working flawless.
So far, all i've tested is working fine, on configuration app too!

Excellent news! I've since checked the stock config.gz you provided, and the only interesting change is that now the OnePlus Freezer kernel side feature is not set, meaning that it's not present anymore on OP8T. I'll need to clarify if this was done on Op8Pro as well. If so, I think the installer zip can be fully unified between the Op8T and Op8Pro, as all things seems to work on both models. :good:

Well, just poke around in the config app, and see how it goes.
As for battery life, you could try to play with Dynamic Boost EAS or Battery saver, but first I think just go with stock settings in the Config app in those parts. :good::good:

The download on offer is for kernel managers that seem to be root-only, and I'm trying to go rootless.

Interesting, well it looks like that on lock screen much lower brightness values are set by the framework and it got very much screwed up the algorithm I apply. Probably needs fixing on all variants.
Can you please do this: scan thru the highest brightness to the lowest while screen is normal on and grab the dmesg. I'm curious what's the lowest/ highest values sent by the framework.

Seems 30-2047 is the range then while screen is on. This differs from the op8pro range it seems by quite a lot. It can already go much lower.. Seems that OnePlus managed to fix the display issues on the new hardware of op8t, somewhat lower values are being set.
I'll have to adjust this a bit for op8t to work correctly.

Yeah when i was with 8 pro i've claim refund to amazon because bad display, clouding and green tint, on 8t everything is good, no clouding or green tint on low brightness.

Are you using dimmer solution of OnePlus? Seems like there's a new method for lower screen brightness levels. Also new display mode setting called dimmer by OnePlus in the Kernel as well
