Hi. I too want to make s health app work on my rooted yet stock running as of now, note8. I went on the above link but the download link for app seems to be down. Could you please attach your method and the APK file you used. It would be a great help. Thanks!

. Open the root file explorer and go to the /system folder.
3. Open the file named build.prop in text editor
4. In the build.prop file look for ro.config.tima=1 change the 1 to 0 and save changes
The regular shealth app will work after that

If it is the snapdragon version you can't it is root with no updates or stock with updates. To uproot just flash stock firmware with oden warning that will wipe your phone and it will be like when you got the phone

If you have Exynos and want stock firmware/updates, then just flash the latest stock firmware using Odin.
If on the other hand you are rooted and want to stay that way, then just make the build.prop change for s-health and enjoy. You can't get ota updates while rooted, but you could flash new updates through Odin and then re-root, etc. (but make backups first).

Can I not root and then make build.prop change for s-health and then unroot via the unroot option in SuperSU app ?

Well until some one finds a way to reset knox , i believe no other way to update OTA on rooted device. Flashing Stockrom will solved OTA problem but S Health will remain unable to Opens.
If you wants to unroot, just choose full unroot from superuser manager app after editing the build.prop (still No OTA update though)
I Hopes it helps

There is a line in build.prop that if you change, it allows you to use shealth on a rooted phone.

[Q] Root and OTA

Hello everyone.
I have rooted my Mini with pre-rooted firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030282
Looks like it uses stock ROM but with root access and does not change counter.
Does it support OTA?
Thx in advance,
Yes it does have ota

Thank you. Thread can be closed, I think.
Strange. I got root using presented guide. Tried to check for updates and it says that I have modified my device and it cannot check for updates.
Do I need to make factory reset or FOTA updates are not compatible with root?
Happens to me if u remove or delete certain apps, Samsung scan your phone and says u have custom or modified ROM .

How would you restore an X that is rooted using pwnmymoto to stock to support ota/soak?

Will this work with the soak? Also doesn't really address the issue since the soak will require all the native apps and such to be present.

IF all you care about is the new OTA, and you DONT wish to keep root access, which the new OTA prevents then just Flash the stock firmware file with RSD LITE per the thread. If you however want to RETAIN root, and be on the new OTA update, then follow that link, which will allow the OTA to be applied to your phone, while you keep root access.
Yes but does this apply to soak....

Whats the difference? Is the soak test still not an OTA just pushed out to a select few?
Well don't you need to have all the stock apps intact?

If you flash, you will go back to stock and lose root and anything else that came with it. I suggest you wait for the developers to make stock rooted version. :good:

So as long as you don't mind your Knox warranty flag being tripped, you can re-root your device. I don't mind tripping the flag.

You don't have to rename it if you're running stock. Just place it on the root of your sd card and get into recovery mode by turning the device off. Then hold volume up key while you power it on until you get to recovery. Navigate to update from external sd, then navigate to the file name and select it. It should update with no problems as long as you are completely stock.

So, when you say completely stock does work for those who used CF Auto root on MF9? stock but rooted MF9 and stock recovery. All I did was Odin CF Auto root.

You guys notice the new signal icons for 3G and 4G? Or the fact that the Samsung keyboard has auto correct (auto replacement) now in its settings? And it has built in emojis. In full color, system wide, and support newer iOS6 emoji. No more black and white or boxes (that I've seen). :victory:
That's just all I noticed so far. I'm sure there is a lot more to discover.
Anyway to get just stock recovery I can't download the whole Odin restore tar

S Memo does not support the emoji on the Samsung keyboard (don't need it there anyway, so no big deal). The stock email app only shows them as black and white (no big deal there either).

Help determining which nougat/marshmallow ROM to user for model SAMSUNG-SM-G900A

I'm trying to upgrade my buddie's phone here. Not very familiar with the s5 community and what's available..
Can this phone be rooted, TWRP'd, and flashed to nougat or marshmallow officially or otherwise?
Please help, any advice is appreciated.. Thanks
Depends on what version of android you have now if it can be rooted. If you have lollipop or marshmallow, then no, there is no root. Marshmallow is available via ota update.

Yea it's on 5.0... I'll have to get his at&t sim and try to update it via OTA.
Thanks for replying.
Edit: Will this work?

Also, is root even needed for flashing custom ROMs?
