How do I unlock band 28 for use? I followed the miui forum tut http://en.miui.com/thread-311977-1-1.html using the 2nd alternative method. So my network signal guru app shows the band on LTE band locking. But the carrier does not register any signal/network.
So my questions are: is it possible to unlock band 28? If so, how did you unlock it for use?
Also, could flashing a new rom/firmware etc. undo any of these modifications?
Com'e on guys! Shed some light into this contentious issue

Probably, search for those threads that show how to install the HTC modem driver and use QXDM to change the LTE bands. This is assuming that there is hardware support.
You can use NV Calculator or LTE Band Calculator to get the needed value.
You'll have to boot into bootloader and boot to BP Tools in order to install the modem driver on your computer.
hi tell me the spc code what u using I'm qxdm .. ?? mine 000000 is not working pls help me .. how to get spc code

I don't think I've ever been prompted to enter a code in QXDM. Everything is done from the PC after booting BP Tools on the phone.
OK I will try

Sorry to disappoint you, but can't be done. Many people have tried to enable LTE band 20 on the Moto XT1225 (and it would be seemingly be more possible with that Quark variant which was sold internationally, rather than the U.S. XT1254)
Using NV calculator, QXDM, QPST, etc, the software changes will show LTE band 20 is enabled but you still won't actually receive/send any signal.
I bought a SMN960U1 phone but ended up getting an unlocked ATT phone. Is there a way to flash it with Odin to get band 71 and 12?
I have read a bunch of posts and more confused than when I started. If you have a link to the correct version of Odin and ROM to flash I would be so grateful. I will keep looking through the posts in the mean time and will post back and answer my own question if I find an answer that works.
*update
Found post with wrong model number. It is missing the 9.

Would love to hear from anyone who has done the flash and if they get band 71.
It already has band 71 and band 12. It's supported natively by the hardware.

AT&T does not have Band 71:

But,if you are roaming on the networks that have Band 71 (T-Mobile & presumably the MVNOs that use T-Mobile's network),you should be able to use it w/o doing a thing.
Hi! 4G isnt working on my Mi9 with A1 network but they use the suported frequencies. I tried reseting APN and some other changes in developer options nothing worked. Any idea?
I'm gona try and flash the ROM when I unlock it from CN to global or EEA. which one should I chose if there is any big difference?

Which variant do you have? if it's the alita / explorer / transparent edition (8/256GB or 12/256GB) then there's NO BAND 20, which is LTE for many providers. Have you checked this?
EDIT: see here, perhaps you're in an area that doesn't use band 7 and only band 20? If this is the case... No ROM you flash can alter that, it's hardware related. ONLY global devices (64/128GB) support band 20

Do not relock bootloader after flashing rom, it will most likely brick your device. Flash another ROM if you like but you won't get band 20
May I ask, why do you want to relock bootloader after flashing a new ROM?
Hey guys, I have a Moto e5 play Verizon-branded phone so I can't unlock bootloader to root, is there any way to unlock handicapped frequency bands without root access?
-And another question: Can I flash it a global firmware?
