I have a moto x1 - XT1052 and the back camera just gets a lot of rainbow colored parallel lines or a black screen and error is shown as "camera error- Please restart camera". The only weird thing is that it ocasionally works for abt 10 days every 2 months then goes back to error state. Even 3rd party camera apps don't work
Front camera works fine.
Any idea why?

Anyone else experiencing crashes when they use the camera app, finish what they're doing, close out, use the phone and then go back to the camera? Multiple times I've used it to snap photos and exit, then come back later to launch the camera app only to have it sit, with the icon lit blue and then crash the phone after 2-3 minutes of sitting
Something similar happened within 1 hour of owning the phone for me, wife was testing out the camera and was not waiting for focus and kept tapping the shutter button, phone made the shutter sound in a continuous death loop for a few minutes and rebooted.
Yes, I have experienced a crash from the camera app too. Later, the camera had an error that wouldn't allow me to open the app at all. When I tried to open the camera it just kept displaying "Unable to initialize camera," it took a reboot to fix it. I think it was caused by opening the camera app and sleeping the phone then waking it a few times. Plus, the panorama function has failed me. It didn't crash the phone, but it just didn't work. Hopefully Motorola will address these bugs in the future but I won't be holding my breath.
Yeah it has happened to me twice

Yeah, I've had to pull the battery out to get it to reboot. Pretty craptacular - can't wait for root on this baby
It's happened twice to me. Motorola has admitted the camera app has a bunch of problems that they're working on.
Happens here too
what a fail by moto how did they release this to the public
did anyone from the moto forum (matt) address this and anything else
phone is very buggy choppy and mine reboots alot too

Yes, Matt admitted that the camera is being worked on by Moto and partners between the crashes and the blue tint problem.
Hopefully its only a software problem that can be corrected, the camera app definitely needs some work. Maybe a 3rd party app can help us in the mean time, anybody know anything that works?
Based on recommendations, I just got Camera360.
So far it seems to be working great!
Is blue tint gone?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
When the camera works, it takes great pictures. Unless you're talking about camera360?
This is something that we have to deal with when we buy a new phone. Yes sometimes the phones don't have big issues and sometimes they do. Its the curse of new phones. But im very hopefull that an update is right around the corner.

I mean is the blue tint gone with Camera 360, or is it a hardware problem
Hey guys,
Recently I had opened up my phone to replace a cracked screen. The screen and all other functions work properly but the rear camera seems to be giving an error message, stating, "camera not available".
I tried resetting the phone but this problem did not get solved. The front camera used to work before the reset but now even that is gone.
I even downloaded a third party app but back camera still not working( front camera is available in third party app.
What could have gone wrong. Could this have screwed up the software, if so what should I do to repair it?
Or have I possibly not connected the camera properly? Or have I totally damaged it some how?
Please help

Hi mate,
it could be a problem either with the hardware or with software. "camera not available" sounds like you didn´t connect the camera properly and the software could not find it.
Check it, if the camera is really connected.
Otherwise I personally think, it was not the best idea to reset the phone - a normal reboot should be enough.
As you tried a third party app, and the front camera worked, it must be a software problem. What I would do:
1) Check the connection of the camera, if it´s ok. -
2) Reflash the system and reboot it normally.
Good luck! :fingers-crossed:
Anyone else having issues like this? As far as the camera cannot connect error I have read about people with that problem and I literally tried every single suggestion. I'm not a n00b so this is really bugging me (see what I did there) Anyway all of these pictures are with the same phone. On stock 5.1.1 I RARELY could connect to the camera. With Android M preview I can at least connect about 80% of the time. However, results aren't always good. Should I just suck it up and call and get it replaced? Or is the actual phone OK and I'm one of the unlucky guys with the camera bug.

Same here. Had to RMA. Unable to connect and purple pixilation.
Thanks guys. Got mine swapped out at the store. Camera pops up right away and works awesome. Other things I noticed is that this new one perfectly fits my case mate folio case. The other power button must have been off by a little bit. This new one also got 50k+ on Antutu. I was lucky if the old one hit 43k.
Stock, unrooted, newly purchased Moto G5S Plus. I'm having an issue with the camera. It seems to not want to focus (or un-blur) 90% of the time. The other 10% (during which I have no idea what sort of magic I've done) it takes wonderful photos. I've tried third-party apps, clearing the cache in recovery, and Safe Mode. I'm upset and Motorola doesn't seem to want to help me. I'm just outside the return period (thanks for that, Motorola!) and am wondering what the community here thinks? I can always try to root and install a custom ROM but I don't know if that will help.
Hey so I've discovered if I tap my knuckles against the back of my phone either on or near the rear camera the picture immediately clears. The issue keeps happening and the tapping trick keeps working -- the tapping trick does not result in the picture going blurry again so I'm guessing it's an issue with software and not hardware. Just wanted to throw this out there in case someone else was having the same problem.
Motorola did tell me to send the phone back, but this was before I tried tapping it. I really don't want a used phone (this is my first new phone in like forever) so I'm tempted to just keep it as-is and hope the tapping keeps working.
Picture processing is terrible on this phone...
And it doesn't seem this phone is having good camera sensors..
Pictures come out blurry most of the times...
Anyways you can always try gcam after flashing a 64bit rom...

Tapping on the phone causing proper focus would indicate a hardware problem. You should return under warranty.
Hey there, I got this weird issue regarding x526 front camera as it's not always working. After pressing button to switch to the front camera the camera app will freeze for some time and then will display info "cannot connect to the camera". The only way to fix it is to clean dalvik / cache, but its only temporary solution.
I have tried various ROMs from 6.0 to 9.0 and different camera apps, but in all these ROMs either front camera won't work from the start or will stop working after brief usage.
Any ideas how to fix this issue? Any help will be appreciated.
Dirt in front camera
A little update to my first post. I have noticed A lot of dust in the front camera lenses. It looks like someone was trying (unsuccessfully) to fix that camera, probably from the store. I have bought this phone from Bangood. Was anyone of you in a similar position as me? I contacted Bangood and told them I want them to resend a fully working phone. Still waiting for their reply.
