Droid Turbo 1 Phone App not working - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

If i want to place a call, from home screen i open the Phone App, and whenever i select a contact or dial a number, the phone app stops responding.
I have tried factory reset , installed new firmware, but its still the same.
Kindly help

Please tell us what version and build of Android your phone is using, what version of the Phone app you have installed, and if you've made any system-level changes (unlock bootloader, root, Xposed, magisk, disabled system apps, etc)
Please also try installing a 3rd-party phone app from the play store and see if that app works (I recommend the Google Phone app, if it's available to you).
Please let us know this information and results. If it is not resolved by these tests, we may need you to get some detailed system logs before attempting more drastic solutions.

Hi. I am facing same issue with my droid turbo 1. I've also reset my device, installed third party app, but still facing same problem. When ever I recieve a call my phone app gets stuck and won't respond.
Effective suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

[Q] Browser tap phone number to call is not working

Hello, brain trust!
I am not able to tap a phone number to call from Chrome on my HTC one. I do not use it often, so i have no idea when it happened and where to start. I tried clearing cache for Chrome and phone app, but it made no difference.
I have installed Elementalx kernel and frozen some apps to save battery.
Does anyone have any tips? Google was of no help to me for this issue.
Thanks!

[Q] Major wp8.1 issues after update

Hi all
Wondering if anyone can offer any advice on this...
I upgraded a lumia 920 to windows 8.1, after the update no apps would work including stock apps like internet explorer App Store etc.
I hard reset the phone by going to settings about reset my phone
After this was done it did not give me the option to add my Microsoft account to restore the backed up data and the apps still don't work. If I try to manually add a Microsoft account the option crashes and internet explorer and stock apps still keep crashing.
By crashing I mean as soon as I click them they try to open by go straight back to the main screen.
Can anyone help
Thanks in advance for any advice

My advice would be to restore the phone using the Nokia tool. These links may be of some help depending on how you upgraded... http://www.nokia.com/us-en/support/faq/?action=singleTopic&topic=FA142987 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2515453. More info about the method you used would be helpful to anyone that may be of more help. Luckily the phone isn't bricked and still boots.
Try HARD RESET again.
Minimum 2 times.
thanks for the replies, i tried to hard reset again just now but the same happened, it takes me through the set up process, when it gets to the account page and i click "sign in" it shows a white screen with:
"checking account information"
then doesnt ask for any login details and goes to the home screen, and the apps still dont work, I'm trying the nokia recovery tool now, will update what happens,
Finally got a chance to do the nokia software reset which did the job fine, had a few apps which had a strange error and would not reinstall with an err 8000fff however after the update was redone it seemed fine, only crap part is all the text messages and calendar entries have been lost
thanks again

I tried making varioud VOIP calls thorugh Viber, Google hangouts etc. they seem to be working perfectly. What could be the problem!?

Excellent advice srideep!
Yesterday I started experiencing the exact same problem as yashodhan92: No audio in either direction of the call. In the past a simple reboot has solved the problem but this time it didn't work. And just like the OP, VoIP services worked normally. I was hesitant to perform a Clear all data but felt I had nothing to lose after a day and a half without the ability to make or receive calls with the native phone app. I performed the clear data and rebooted. Phone is back! Thanks a ton!
FYI, I have an HTC One M7 running MaxHD 42.0.0 (Android 4.4.3/Sense 6.0)
Problem solved !
Had the same problem , and the solution provided works like charm . Wondering what would be the cause .

Anybody got any more to offer on this??
The above fix gives me one or two calls then the problem is back. Htc support say to clear the data within the phone app. Also gives one or two calls relief then fail again.
Likewise factory reset, reported on telstra crowdsupport that this is only a temporary fix.
Htc support say they have had many hundreds of calls since Saturday, all htc one M7, all android 4.4.3, all Telstra AU customers.
Can anybody help?

To clear the data for the phone app (or any other except Google Play Services)...
Tap Settings
Tap Apps
Scroll right to the All tab
Scroll down until you find the app you want, or tap the magnifying glass and enter the name (e.g. "Phone")
Tap on the App name
Tap Clear Data
Done.
For Google Play Services, after tapping on the App name, tap the Manage Space button, then Clear All Data button.
Folks have recommended clearing data for Phone, Google Play Services, Google Play Store, Google Services Framework. These are all harmless (you might be re-asked for some permissions). But my testing shows that it is a temporary fix, likely because the Google apps reload the offending bug. I suspect we'll have to wait for a fix from HTC or Google.
Clearing Cache or data is often a good way to sort Android app problems, but bear in mind that any local data relating to the app will be lost, such as accounts/logons, media, high scores etc. so progress with caution and use your backups first.
Tactical fix:
Disable Google Services Framework.
Reboot
This will cause issues with Google Play Services (and possibly other applications), however it at least allows the phone to make/take calls.

Hello! Thanks for the reply.
I erased all sorts of data from Google Play Services but that did not work, and I was still unable to make any calls. Then i checked the recently updated apps and noticed that HTC Lock Screen had been updated. I removed the update and Voila! It worked! Still wondering what could have gone wrong because of a Lock Screen update!
I've tried everything in this thread. Nothing works.

Have you tried uninstalling the HTC Lock Screen updates then after doing that for good measure erase all data from Google Services as mentioned above and re-boot.
@yashodhan92
Yep, just tried that and its working now. Cheers.

Yashodhan, You might just be the genius of the week. :highfive:
I have uninstalled the HTC Lockscreen updates, and call sounds are back.
I did not have to clear any data from Google Services or take any other action to achieve it.
I then connected to the Play Store, and triggered My App updates, which previously was enough to re-break the call sound. So far, no problem. Call sound is still working.
We may have a winner (at least until the next HTC Firmware update, which might put the Lock Screen update back in, so remember this fix).
For less experience folks: detailed instructions are:
Tap Settings icon
Scroll down, Tap Apps
Scroll right to the All tab
Tap the magnifying glass button
Type "Lock" [no quotes]
Tap HTC Lock Screen
Tap Uninstall Updates
Agree to the reboot.
Done.
I will report back if the fix fails.
Where do you have uninstall?
when I go to HTC Lock screen i see:
Force stop, disable, clear data, clear cache, clear defaults
thanks
Hey all
I've been having the same issue on and off for a few weeks now.
I used to be able to fix it by just restarting, but as of today that wasn't working.
Clearing the data of Google Play Services and Google Services Framework have resolved it for me for now - but I suspect it will reoccur.
Like the post above, I don't have the option to uninstall HTC Lock Screen updates...
For reference, I'm running Viper One 7.0.1, and have tried 3 different Kernels (Elemental, Kangaroo and Stock).
Thanks
Paul
I will try to install Viper without sense...but hate that I will be not able to use Blink Feed
Seems I didn't have the HTC Lockscreen update installed - which is why I didn't have the uninstall option.
I've installed, the update, had the issue, uninstalled the update, and still have the issue.
The only way I'm getting the calls to work is by clearing the data from Google Play Services and Google Services Framework - even then, I'm only able to make 1 call (testing out by calling Voicemail), and then it will stop working again.
I've also installed an app freezer, and frozen the HTC Lockscreen - but this hasn't worked either.

Have you tried freezing the app using Titanium Backup PRO? That worked for me.

Apps Incompatible with Current System Version

Good day, this notif has just appeared to me recently and I do not know why. Whenever I download, whenever I update.
It prompts me, App incompatible with current system version. I do not know what triggered it but its annoying.
No it doesn't prohibit me fron using my app, yes I can still use my apps even if I update em. New downloaded apps works too. But that prompt is just annoying.
Could anyone help me regarding this as I have searched google and found answers / solutions that were not working for me.
Thanks
did u fix it bro>?
I'm having the same issue. It just started recently after resetting all app preferences in main settings. Nothing different other then the annoyance. Is there maybe a way to block the one particular notification?
Same issue here. Any fix?
same for me with my rooted phone. Is there a solution?

Question Unable to view or download gmail attachment

Hello, I recently found out I can't view and download gmail attachments on my Oppo phone. I recalled I can view and download them before, so this must be recent development (possible after c.46 update?)
I also find out I can't download from Google photos and Google drive.
I did everything that is suggested by the internet, clear cache on GMS, playstore, etc.. to no avail.
Upon searching the internet, I came across similar problems with OnePlus devices: oneplus problem
and since OnePlus is part of Oppo, the problem may be related.
Has this also happens to anyone here? Do you have any work around of how to make this work?
Uninstall gmail update and use the factory load version.
On Samsung's I always use the factory load versions for gmail and gmaps because the updated ones suck. Google screws up everything... just give them time.

I tried that, but still can't download attachments that way.
Turned out the OnePlus user figured out the problem here
It is the Clone App feature. I unfortunately did a factory reset on my phone, and Gmail attachments downloaded fine, but as soon as I cloned an app, in this case WhatsApp, I can no longer download from Google Apps.
I always have been using 2 WhatsApp on this phone, and I have downloaded loads of attachments from Gmail with no problem before. I suspect the issue is on the latest software update.
The workaround is to switch to guest mode, and switch back, then its normal again. You don't have to delete the cloned app. One user from that OnePlus forum said if you reset your phone, then download failed again.. but I haven't tried resetting my phone since.
I hope they fix this on the next update

Yay.
Weird modes create weird problems.
WhatsApp is pure malware, I never go there and it would never be installed on any of my devices.
Better get while the gettings good...

I have the same problem.
I already did a faactory reset and it worked, but upon setting the phone again it started to fail on donwloading from Gmail/Google Photos... maybe when I cloned WhatsApp.
Will switch to Guest and turn back, to see if it works.

Unfortunately a factory reset doesn't ID the root cause of the problem, so it can reoccur.
WhatsApp is trashware... what could go wrong?
Try completely uninstalling WhatsApp.
If that doesn't work it may have permanently altered hidden user settings, one of the the hallmarks of a poorly written app. Really it's acting like malware by locking out another app's functionality if so.
Factory reset and do a clean load from scratch. Be careful what you install or you'll be doing it again!
Just because an app is Playwhore approved doesn't make it compatible or even safe!

Thanks for your information.
I have been searching for the workaround for last 10days as even Oneplus Support could not provide any workaround.
The workaround to switch to guest mode, and switch back to Original User temporarily solves the issue. However, If we reboot the device, we have to follow the same procedure again.

It didn't work for me.Thanks.
Well, I managed to get it to download the gmail attachments again. I have uninstalled the double application (in this case whatsapp), I have restarted the mobile, and reinstalled. The first time the whasapp installation failed, the second time it didn't and magically it re-downloaded the attached files.
It is seen that there is a problem with app cloning in this operating system.
After update to C47 enable permission to storage in gmail app, then files will be down!
Update: issue come back, not know why!
2nd update: after update the firmware to C60, problem solved!
