Nook HD Screen and Turning On Problems - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Nook HD is charging fine and holds a charge. However, I have to press and hold the on/off switch multiple times to see it reboot to get to the screen. During these attempts, the screen will light faintly then go black. Problems started when the wallpaper changed to yellow swirls, the letters under icons/apps are very hard to read, the brightness is turned up all the way, and the letters when reading a book for night mode are yellow on black. Background has dimmed. B&N Help was not helpful. I can't find ANY thing like this on the internet for help on this issue. Any advice?

Standby Screen (right 1/4 of the screen very dark)

I am having a funny issue when the standby screen is on. Example: The device is off and I turn the device on via the power button. I have the device set-up to display my 'Owner Information'. When the 'Owner Information' is displayed the right side 1/4 of the screen is much darker than the left - still viewable. When the unit comes out of standby mode and the unit is up and running everything is fine. Screen is very bright and viewable. I tried to do a soft reset to see if this solved the problem but no such luck. I even went as far as to do a hard reset and still the same result. Is anyone else having this same issue? It is possible this is the correct function of the standby screen but I don't recall the standby screen being this dark in the past.
Thoughts???
My only thought is that it may be the LED backlites, one or more may have a different (lower) light output at the lower settings. I've seen this with LEDs where a string of them will look uniform and fine at full but quite different at lower levels.
Just a thought.

Screen died, manufacturer defect?

Hey, Last night I was texting with my phone. I closed the keyboard, and the screen didn't flip to portrait mode. I opened it and closed it again and it remained frozen. Then it dimmed, and the screen was consumed by red green blue and white lines. I did a soft reset and the phone turned on, but only a dim light emanated from the screen, no picture whatsoever. The phone did boot completely, I heard a text message come in, pressing buttons made the appropriate tone. I used no custom roms, nor did I get it wet.
Does this sound like a manufacturer defect? Is there a history of this happening?

It sounds like what happens when there is a connection problem between the lcd and the motherboard. If your mobile has warranty, then bring it in. The connections are a press fit type thing, and in my opinion very poor engineering. If you have nothing to lose, then find the dissassembly videos and make sure the connections are being made. Do a search for the "Microp Error". At least I think that is what it is called.
There are some hints there, I believe.
for starters it sounds like you have a pro, not a diamond.
the pro has a problem with chafing of the ribbon cable as it passes through the slider mech.
the cable conductors become exposed and short across the screen mount plate causing the display to lose colors or go blank.

9305N - Blacks got a severe green color

I bought a used I9305N, wasen't informed about the screen problem. Got it cheap so I won't bother returning it, is there any app that can adjust the color? I found a color test app and it's only the black color that's off.
Strangely enough the black color was suddenly OK for a few minutes but after a reboot the problem was back. I suspected a bad cable connection, I reseated it but the problem persists. I guess the screen is just shutting slowly shutting down.

Need Help - N950F screen become blur and yellow if turn off screen and turn on again

My note 8 is 1 and half years old now. about 2 month ago, it start to have an issue that the screen will become yellow and blurred if turn off the screen and turn on again within 5 seconds. when the screen become yellow, the brightness of the screen will drop, also the text on the screen feels like got a shadow effect. Not related to night mode/blue light filter/google book night mode etc, all tested on/off and no use. and recent month it become even worse, when the phone become hot it will also become dim and yellow. any solutions?
the dim and yellow effect even visible when the phone restart and show the SAMSUNG boot animation. when dial *#0*#, check the color, red looks like orange, green is ok, blue looks like purple...

You need a new screen unfortunately. That's not going to go away it's going to get worse.

I agree! Sounds like the display has developed an issue.
well, it seems so, have to replace the display. but the display actually can show the colors well -- when it's cool, and when you press button to activate the screen after the screen had been off for at least 5 seconds.
if there can be a software solution, disable the dim color mask when the phone is hot, then I can save the money for replace the screen...
