I've noticed this because I switch roms frequently, I had to record a slow motion video but on the MIUI rom there is no sound!
There is it with the google camera in LineageOS...Wtf.... Is this supposed to be a feature or a bug? I will never switch to MIUI once again, that's ridiculus

oh, Well last i was on lineage like when 14.1 was newest and there was no 8.0 rom so i dont remember much ;D
That is by design, so it's a feature. I use google camera for that, though (it has sound). Luckily if I want slow motion in google camera to work, it requires media_profiles.xml that will break video functionality of MIUI camera.

Yes, I experienced that, so I decided to use just LineageOS instead. Also for Camera2API

Tested on RR 5.8.4 and It takes same photos or worse than Nubia camera...
Enviado desde mi NX563J mediante Tapatalk
Only one thing that Google camera better: Video stabilization
So there is a actual video stabilisation with this camera? Is the quality worse than Nubia/RR camera?
Only slowmo doesn't work
Good Camera because it has Video Stabilisation and the Slowmotion does work !!! You must change the Video Quality to HD 720p and Slowmo to 120 FPS ! It works !!!
Better camera que Nubia camera.

Hi, the phone has to be routed?
It doesn't work in my UI v 5.0
Thanks
The Google Camera porting developer like arnova can work much better just for this device to work on.
But unfortunately, stop developing the camera, not even the development of special rom.

I can confirm that all the ports of Arnova's work fine (even the slow motion function) but the Bokeh function does not work, the app crashes while processing the photo. I've tried different versions of Arnova's and they all have the same bug. I'm using the Mokee 8.1 firmware
I did not say that the camera is not working. There is no improvement for this device. You are only running the cameras which are ports for various devices. This is not a development.
I also can not understand why it's such a good idea to be so far behind custom rom. This device is much more than the xioami mi6 in design and design.
But in terms of development, it is so bad. I have difficulty understanding that the developers have not attracted attention.

Android is Nubian ui's Android 8..1
Can be used but there is a case of down frequency. There are waves on the screen. The video has a serious impact. No problem taking pictures: (

For your information;
On my Z17 (NX563J) i found that Arnova's 7.9.9 gcam works great
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/...f/GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V7.9.9.apk
Newer versions don't work, or crash, or don't have all the features.

Treble v1.0 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/nubia-z17/development/nx595j-t3837433)
HavocOS (8.1) (https://sourceforge.net/projects/ha...oc-arm64_aonly_vanilla_nosu-0819.zip/download)
OpenGapps
no Magisk or other SU
works great on my phone
Z17 (NX563J)
Rom:official developer edition (6.18.10.19), based on oero 8.1
No root needed, install microG Services Core only.
Arnova's v8.3b1 works, with google photo (no backup to google as I don't use offical google framework).
Slow motion works, portrait mode works.

I don't know any gcam that has working slo mo for z17 (no matter 120 or 240)
I definitely know that snapdragon camera and hedgecamera work with 240 slomo even with hevc.
But problem is that I can't modify vendor (tried on los 15), inserting libs with magisk leads to bugs that system sees 120 and 240 at the same time and uses none of them (I checked through logs).
So locked vendor prevents me from using treble along with not so good working camera (no slomo, no portrait, [email protected] eis not so good as stock one). These problems can probably be solved through vendor modding but no...
I like los 15 for its battery life, performance (it is faster than stock), no bloatware, aux camera exposed for every app that can use it without build.prop whitelisting.

@aljoscha81
Is mokee battery friendly? Does it have aux camera exposed by default?
Hello friends from XDA, i bought a LeEco Le S3 x522 version and im currently waiting for it, but reading the custom rom section, i noticed the fact that you cannot record on 4K or take photos greater than 12Mp with any Nougat custom rom, to sum up, i want that you post some photos taken using the Footej camera app on 12Mp and the same photo but using the stock camera at 16Mp, im specially interested on close-ups or macro photography, and based on that i will decide neither to stick to EUI or change to Nougat.
I dont mind to lose some pixels(at least until a fix appears) if i can focus properly, even if its only at 12Mp
Thanks in advance for helping and i hope to see your photos and also i will upload my own once it arrives!
I will be receiving the phone this monday, will share some pictures, im so glad with the support to my thread.

If you want to stay on a google security level from before a thousand years, please use eui... and have a little better stock cam concerning low light pictures.
If you want custom and good camera options, choose Los13. Open Camera is best if you care about settings and footej is best for out of the box use. I don' t like stock snapdragon there. If I zoom into pictures they seem to be not so sharp.
If you like half the cores of your cpu going to sleep all the time if you are unrooted you can choose any nougat rom and use footej camera which makes very good pictures also without 4k, which is the ONLY stable camera app there. Users and developers here like to tell that camera is completely stable after almost every release of Los 14, but that was never true four times I tried a nougat rom (last time three weeks ago), maybe it was true for footej, but I need open camera at least.
People also liked small eui in the past, I didn't read the thread for while, maybe this can be s.th. for you too.
Also I would like to tell you that people here like to answer your threads if you have a real and new problem.... and not really for fun discussions or what this should be, so don't bother
Unfortunately if you want stable you will need to use stock EUI. The camera has been screwed up on Lineage based roms forever and there is no real fix for this yet.

Can you actually record 4k video 100% of the time? Do your camera apps launch perfectly everytime and the flashlight works no problem? I've tried so many combinations of kernels and roms I give up on lineage. The camera issue and half the cores not working are not worth the headache.

I made a short video to show the problem: youtube.com/watch?v=zHTiiJTL2JU
A lot of Xiaomi Smartphones have very bad performance when it comes to video encoding (e.g. Instagram Video Stories, Adobe Premiere).
Interesting fact: If you upload the exact same video file with different phones, the result is not the same.
Uploading Video Stories on Instagram with a Mi 9 ends up in a desaster. The input file with 30 fps will be shown with 15 fps for no reason.
The same file uploaded with a Huawei P9 Light works.
So what's the problem here? Instagram is using a bad encoding profile for Xiaomi Phones?
Who could fix this? Xiaomi? Google? Android? Instagram?
Any Ideas?
I tried to contact Xiaomi, but they're not interested in fixing this problem.
For instagram users, Xiaomi Phones are not useable right now :-/
It's a ROM related issue.
I tried on GSI and it's smooth as it should be

Hm :-/ It's a brand new smartphone. Always a bad feeling flashing it.
What I've seen so far, many things don't work with GSI Rom.
But thanks for your quick reply
The only thing that doesn't work on GSI at the moment is FP on always on display, and that it's a little bit less reliable in my opinion.
By the way, it might just be a problem with media profiles

FP always on is not important to me.
Sorry I'm a noob! But, there is no chance to change "media profiles" with Xiaoimi stock Rom, right?
Anyways, wich ROM exactly could you recommend? Maybe I'll give it a try.

Hey guys,
there are some custom roms out and I want to know if someone of you tried Anxcam on it?
How was your experience?
What worked what not?
Was it stable?
Would be great if someone could report about that.
Thanks!:highfive:
Edit: for those people who don't know what anxcam is, it's a Miui Cam port for AOSP based custom roms.

I'm using Resurrection Remix, and installed ANXCamera 137 version on Magisk.
- Video recording causes app crash.
- Portrait mode does not work with a pop up says camera error. cannot connect to the camera.(need to force close the app to use other modes)
- All modes after portrait mode does not work because of portrait mode error.

Portrait mode works now after applying 48MP fix(ANX48MPFix, 129)
1. Slow-mo 960fps shows like half pinky and half greenish
2. Short video works normally
3. Video menu still causes app crash. https://del.dog/aweqoyafun.sql
4. Shutter speed faster than 1/125 creates yellow lines.
5. Front camera does not pop up

Yes bro i know this actually i use this CAM on Mi6 custom ROM but quality was not good as compared to stock MiUi ROM apk.
if picture quality in Redmi k20 pro is same like stock ROM apk, then i will flash custom ROM and will use this CAM,
I have only one phone so can't test custom ROM ..
5 days left and Im able to unlock and try anxcam myself.:good:
This is currently the only thing that prevents me from totally switching to a custom rom. Gcam currently lacks support for slow motion and anxcamera has too many bugs. If there is a cam apk available that works as on miui roms then i will permanently switch

Anxcam is the only way to get Miui camera on custom ROMs. There is no other possibility. I hope they will fix the bugs in near future. For Mi9 it worked pretty good but you need to install the 48MP fix first.
So let's hope and wait. :good:

Hey,
I'm planning to switch to pixel experience or another AOSP based rom, and I wanted to ask someone who's using the latest ANX Camera build on an AOSP rom what the current bugs are ?
I saw other users report video not working. But can't seem to find more information on the bugs present on Mi 9.
Thanks !

Thanks for answering ! I switched to Syberia with AnxCamera and yes, everything worked well, even 4k 60 fps and Portrait Mode with the 48 MP fix. Only "Short Video" crashes, but this mode is basically useless I think.
My camera crashes when I access the short video function. Besides that, it's working on PE.
Short video causes 'system time wrong' error.
