Pixel 2 GCam now working for exynos device - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Themes and Apps

Just in case some of you didn't know yet, the portrait mode on google camera from pixel 2 did work on my device which is S6 edge plus, since it has the same exynos as the note 5 and the s6's, it should work for you guys too:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75118407&postcount=252
The hdr+ kinda buggy for me though:silly:

Portrait mode works flawlesly

Is root required?

Nope no root required...works also on stock

Does anynodys have tested the options...if you start the bullettime the app crashes...

A little update... google "celsoazevedo com" and take a look at the dev IDan...his mods a really working good

Saw that from phonearena. Works on my s6 & hdr+ is quite buggy, but I'm surprised that the photos look so much more natural & better than default cam although a bit noisy.
My phone heats a lot when using it though

Yes, a bit noisy but i too like the gcam's result over the stock cam, and the portrait mode didnt work when the battery running low (approx at around 15%) in my case.
Google camera on our phone makes a photo only in the resolution of 8 megapixels. And this is its main drawback. And you need to have 16 megapixels.
P.S By the way, a new version of the Google camera, it works in portrait mode: http://www.mediafire.com/file/0dd10583txgb66d/2_5402192057974390899.apk
The perfectly working version for me with portrait mode without that purple color on highly exposed areas is found here :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/themes/google-camera-portrait-mode-t3736859
V3 is working fine for me, the only bug is the memory leak and HDR+ on the front cam is buggy otherwise everything is working perfectly.
Many thanks to the dev.

But the back camera portrait mode looks no work
The v3 works fine in my S6. But the portrait and hdr+ on rear camera just works in a very good light situation. The front camera works very fine.
anyone could fix the 8mp limitation?

it works, but it seems like it needs a lot of RAM, so it crash a lot (Memory Leak, maybe it will be fixed in next release).
just go to the camera app info and force close, also make sure to clean the RAM through the device management and make a try.
P.S: V4 got released already, I'm going to download and test it

You where right, it seems like the ROM i was running was the issue (Super Stock S8), now i'm running Ressurection Remix with Pixel Camera V4 and it's superb, slow shutter reduces noise, and portrait mode is working perfectly !
I'll never use stock camera again :fingers-crossed:
Did anyone test (one of) the versions, that can be found here: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/ ?

Remeber that s9 got another , more diffrent procesor . I couldnt boot s9 google camera on my note 8 cuz app was force closing. I had to use s7 port ( and its only port working here . I didnt hear about any dev working on gcam port EXPECIALY for "8" serrie ). Try out bsg port since it have smallest amount of bugs ( mostly but portrait mode is always broken on plenty devices ) https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/bsg-test-8.1.apk If it wont work, "9" need another porting other than older serries

Stock camera almost always makes photos with better quality than mods . Its common . Try out pixel 2 port and samsung stock cam . Stock is way better in quality but hdr sucks while comparing it to gcam

Found this issue here and have the same problem. S9 (Exynos) and LOS 15.1.
Make sure you have GApps installed.
Otherwise it won't work since all the versions I found have this dependency:
E/AndroidRuntime(12024): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to create application com.google.android.apps.camera.legacy.app.app.CameraApp: java.lang.SecurityException: Failed to find provider com.google.android.gsf.gservices for user 0; expected to find a valid ContentProvider for this authority
For the Xiaomi Mi6 I found a version which works without Google Services - so it seems generally to be possible...

Using the same version on 5G as well but have issues. Open GCam and viewfinder would freeze for 5 seconds before unfreeze and Night Sight just give me a black viewfinder. Did you change any settings in the setting?

Just use the GCam version for S10e, S10, and S10+. I’ve even used GCam for Note 9 on my Snapdragon 5G on trip to Japan.
I don't have the phone yet and that's why I'm asking in advance. I am not too much a fan of Samsung's heavy handed noise reduction at all ISO levels, so that's why I'm looking for an alternative
Also the answer doesn't addrsss my question regarding if GCAM uses all cameras or if it crops from the normal to make a telephoto view, for instance.

Ahh, I already forgot how it was on my 5G because I returned that to Samsung. I remember later GCam releases say they get the telephoto lens working. The Note 9 version on 5G don’t have that capability I think.
Hi , is there a fully working one for the s10 5g as the ones i have tried all seem to have issues or is it because i have not done some changes ? if anyone could link me to a fully working one that would be great

Just got the phone today and I'm using this GCAM port, for the S10 https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1395089523397913303 it seems to work fine, haven't done any test, just a quick pic and it does seem better quality over the stock Samsung.
I've been using it for about 4 hours and the camera does not fully turn every time, most times it does, but I've had that happen a few times already, where it almost flips all the way to selfie mode, but stops at about 80% of the flip. Interested to know if this is common, I've seen a Youtuber with this issue as well, so just wondering if it's "normal" or not.

already tried bsg arnova version & it's much better than stock in normal or portrait conditions but there's still missing features like live mode who give us actual bokeh effect. as far my experience gcam still lack on response time to open up / switching between mode camera maybe many more must be fixed considering that there has not been ported special for this device

Astrophotography isn't that easy to port. A major reason why even Pixel 2 and OG Pixel will not receive this feature is because of hardware limitations. Even if the developers manage to port the feature somehow, it won't give you optimal results. Although the image processing highly depends on the software, but the hardware capability plays a very crucial role as well. For now, I would say, have patience and see how the porting scene rolls out.
I have a Pixel 3 XL (Which is supposed to get the feature) too with the latest official Google Camera 7.2 installed, still no sign of Astrophotography on my end. I am not a developer but have read enough on the topic because I can't purchase the Pixel 4 here in India, so looking out for as many P4 camera features to be available for my Pixel 3. Sadly, Live HDR+ and Dual Exposure controls won't be available for my device too.
Update: cstark27 has released a port of GCam version 7.2 and has managed to enable Astrophotography on the Pixel 2 (of course, the port is universal like always), along with several other changes. It's worth trying the port on the Mi A3 too. Here's the link to the release notes.

Yes, but what I meant was that the results would not be as good as seen on the Pixel 4/Pixel 3/3a due to hardware. And yes, it works. You can even force-enable the Astrophotography feature in GCam.
Which mod has Focus at infinity option?
