First post from my n8 .
So, let's talk about 'do not disturb',
No alram ring ? For real?
If you try to customize it, You loss the control about media volume... So it's not really 'do not disturb' anymore.
Silent mode? Uncover the media volume too.
There is no way for total silent mode with alarm on in Samsung Galaxy phone :/ WTF?
The only why to do it, is manually pull down any volume slider bar separately.
Not simply as my last AOSP N5X hammered...
Meet the SuperSimpleSilent Mode!
Set volume buttons to control media only
(attached app to force it for any forground app)
Install the app & now you have the control.
When media volume is lower to the minimum,
The phone will not make any sound or in call rings.
Youre alarm ring will still ear properly.
Media volume can be managed,
Without changing this 'silnet mode' settings,
until media volume will set to maximum.
Then all will notification alerts and in call sound volume ring will return to maximum.
That's how to manage volume for a super simple customed silent mode with clock alarm on.
What so you think ?
Download link (beta 1.1):
https://ufile.io/0ruhw
so where's the app?????
:\ cannot add download link cause my user have no "thanks"..
:crying:
mybe some day..
if you wouldike to try it, you can pm me
I don't get it... What is this app supposed to fix?
I don't have any issues with Alarms in silent mode.
mm..
maybe i wasn't clear enough..
there is no problem with "silent mode" and alarms.
the problem is the silent mode is not really silent mode,
as i know it after a tow year's of using with AOSP by my nexus device's...
in AOSP, when you pull down the ringvol bar (by pressing vol- until the very end),
vibrition mode is trun ON.
in this situation, if you make one more press of vol- button,
vibrition mode is truning OFF and silnet mode is trun ON with MediaVol OFF.
but, alarm clock ring is still ON...
with samsung rom's there is no way to enjoy this specific silnet mode variation with media off.
the only why to do it, is to trun 'do not disturb' mode ON.
but, 'do not disturb' mode (defult) have no alarm ring,
apparently... (i missed a day's work because of that )
and if you try to custom 'do not disturb' mode,
you will loss the control about the MediaVolume..
So the only way to do the trick of "AOSP silent mode" perfectly,
is by pulling down the ring vol & media vol manually, one by one.
"SuperSimpleSilent Mode" application is just fix this situation,
by changing the defult vol button to control media vol only
(absuloty, any time, any where... In contrast to the bulidin feature)
and make ring call OFF when found media vol is set to 0.
now, you got a totally silent mode by only a single (long) press on vol- button,
with alarm clock ON .
same as Google AOSP Human Factors behavior....
i will try to upload it for googleplay in the next days..
do you think you would like to try use it??
Do not disturb has an exception you can choose. I used with exception of the alarm. My alarm go off every morning on the days I set.

It's doesn't make the trick :/
System volume and media vol is still not muted...
And this is what I solved...
*** Download link is on top !!!

for a couple of times, my custom notification and phone ringtone would be changed to a very low volume beep that is almost undetectable. i'm sure i haven't done any changes to the settings. because of this i have missed a couple of phone calls and messages.
anyone knows what caused this, and how to fix it? is it some kind of software defect, or is it just me being dumb?
media (general audio), notifications, and alarms are controlled separately either as they happen or through the settings menu. check to make sure your "Ringtones and Notifications" volume slider is at the appropriate level. also try making sure you have vibrate enabled for each type of notification (in case the volume gets turned down again).

This has happened to me a few times....not sure why but it is unnerving because I miss calls. I now check it reasonably often.
Sometimes I raise or lower my volume after starting an audio or video app and it happens to the ringtone instead. I find the audio or video app must be fully started to adjust volume not just launched.

one of the features missing in phone devices vs. tablets is the settings button on the volume bar that pops up when you change volume. on tablets, you can press that button and also change the notifications volume (independently). google should have provided this at the phone level too.
on older android versions, you could specifically check, "master volume adjusts notification volume" (or something to that effect). it seems to be missing now.
Only thing I don't like about the X is the way volume control works. Its like one volume for all. I know I can go into settings to adjust a few minor individual different volume settings but that's just inconvenient. Basically like I'm in a game and turn the music, and at the same time it turns my ring tone down. Any app to better manage volume control?

That's weird. If I'm playing a movie or playing a game and adjust volume, it only adjusts the media volume, not my ringtone. Same when its connected to my stereo via Bluetooth, the volume buttons only turn down the Bluetooth.
And the way the volume adjustment is handled is not unique to the Moto X, its how Android handles it on every phone.
With that said, if you have root, you can install Xposed and use GravityBox to add expandable volume controls.
I installed widgetoid and added the volume, flashlight and rotation to my notification bar. Best decision ever.

I have been having the same problem as the OP. Sometimes while using BT and try to turn the volume down it turns everything down(phone volume icon shows on screen) even under settings for the volume there will not be a BT volume.

I downloaded widgetsoid and selected the volume toggle and it only allows me to adjust the ringtone, media, and alarm clock volume. Any ideas how to get it like yours?
Hey there,
is there a way, to remove the behavior that a long press on the power-button first starts the google assistant instead of getting directly to the "power menu"? I've tried to disable it in the settings which gives me then the option to activate the assistant and unless we gain root, i assume all the bloatware can't be uninstalled
Would another Launcher (https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony-themes-apps/app-xperia-home-10-0-0-40-t3369220) fix it?
Edit:
In the System Settings under "Intelligent Support" (or something like that) there you have "Shortcuts and gestures" there you can disable this behaviour.
Best regards
Seel

You're welcome! Unfortunately you have to press the Power Button really long until the Power-Menu is seen... but this is a first world problem But atleast the Google Assistant isn't nagging around...
Anyone know of a way to remap this functionality? Eg, get holding power button to open the camera instead? I know there's the double-tap volume down shortcut, but that only works when the screen is locked and if no media is playing.
Yes, You can customize Volume button on long press behavior for example with button mapper app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton . I'm using this app to remap Netflix button on my Android powered TV's remote control and here on P30 Pro to launch camera app.

On the subject of Google Assistant, can anyone confirm this bug on their device?
Place phone in airplane mode, 'accidentally' activate Google Assistant, screen will stay on forever. I noticed this as I often leave my phone face down and plugged in on the side (it's my second device) and I came down one morning to find the screen lit. I'd obviously activated assistant by catching the power button. Luckily I don't seem to have any screen burn.
No Launchers do not change power button settings

Hi guys, I have a redmi note 10 pro that is currently running on miui 12.5.8. Since past 2 weeks there is this weird issue where the volume of incoming calls, media reduces to 10% or less suddenly. Even volume buttons become non responsive to volume adjustments. On pressing them, they only show microphone levels, there is no panel for adjusting Media/notifications/alarms. Everytime I have to restart to get volume back to normal levels..happening 10 times a day..ANyone faced this same issue?
Does this happen while you plug-in headset or all the time?

all the time..with or without earphones
Seems some kind of hardware issue. I've faced this with damaged headphones only. Try resetting. If issue persists then claim warranty
This is what happens when I press volume buttons after the sudden volume drop: the weird "Mic adjusting panel" instead of the regular notification or media volume panel

Known issues with MIUI 12.5.8.0:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/qnxmez
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/redmi-note-10-pro-freezes-on-volume-slider.63217/ (on this one they suggests a solution EDIT: this one seems about an old issue, when the volume's buttons on 12.5.8.0 caused system freeze.)
So latest systemUI plugin from apkmirror might fix this according to EU forum post
Had same issue with receiver of my calls saying i was very soft and kept cutting in and out also experiencing loud static on receivers end every 30-40 secs happens on volte/4g/wifi
I've requested refund

tried this didnt work
Here is what all I have tried:
Disable Dolby atmos
close bluetooth/ remove earphones
removed microphone permissions from all apps as far as possible
removed the systemUI plugin
reinstalled the systemUI plugin
removed running apps from memory
ran anti virus scans
none of these steps have worked..ALways the same story: reboot device -> behave perfectly fine -> after some 1-2 hours volume reduces drastically on its own ->try the volume buttons, but they show only the microphone slider -> restart the device again.
In the meantime you could report such issue to Xiaomi, (also by point them this discussion) by using the "Feedback" app, to make them aware of a needed fix
Some users reported that they only experience this after each Messenger call, and that this could be fixed by simply force stopping the Messenger app, or clearing the RAM entirely.
