SingleSim to DualSim Test - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

(sorry if this was discused before, i could not found anything)
Hi folks,
there is an entry in the build, prop
Code:
# read DS/SS property
I think DS = DualSim and SS = SingleSim
This entry links to
Code:
import /efs/factory.prop.
In the factory.prop is just one value
Code:
ro,multisim.simslotcount=1 (i have an original SingleSim device)
When i change the 1 to 2 and to a hot boot i get a message something with SIM blabla has changed and have have to restart with a factory reset to complete.
After another hot boot (without to confirm the message) the slimslotcount switched back to one. Maybe bc i did not confirm the process.
Now my problem where i need a bit support. is i can't reboot bc i'm on custom rom and waiting for the oem-unlock switch. So i need a brave person with root and a backup who can do a reboot.
I would be happy if someone could try it.
Big thanks.

I think you at least need to change the SIM tray to dual sim one, then you can test call and text

I am sorry that my English is not very good. In China, this dual card socket only needs RMB15, but someone can modify IMEI and the price is RMB400.

I think this will not work. i belive Samsung uses CERTs for the IMEI.

Someone on the other thread was mentioning assigning an old phone imei to get it working.

if this doable theoretically, will it require soldering & wiring ? single sim will need sim reader to accommodate 2nd SIM + correspondence IMEI..

Its sounds like the SIM card is not compatible. I know of one person who tried to use a SIM from Iraq but it would not work. Can you try another SIM card?

I googled the symptom and found that sometimes the contacts just dont press on the card firmly. The solution was to cut a piece of business card and slide that in on top of the SIM card, to make it press against the contacts better.
Another result I found was that someone had their IMEI number blocked. Perhaps when you unlocked your Tab you erased or messed up your nv_data.bin file. In settings/about, does you IMEI number start with the digits 004 ?

Very good, I'm glad your IMEI is ok. I don't have any other ideas at the moment, perhaps someone else will.
One more thing to check. In settings/wireless/mobile networks/network operators, try manually selecting your carrier. It may not be switching automatically.

Which unlock method did you use, the first one I posted or the second one using the script?
If you used the script, are you sure there is no file on your sdcard named nv_data.bin.orig ?

no problem Out of interest , which method did you use?
I used both of them, and i got same unlock pin code in either case. I think that second one (one with pushing .sh file) is a little bit easier to read. Greetings, and thank you once again.

I used both methods also and got same code. now if there was a way to unlock the device once and not have to unlock everytime a sim is changed that would be awesome.

Solar... one you input a simunlock code it should permanently enable any sim to be used?

I tried to follow the instructions however I never got the unlock code or I am just being dumb when I use method 2 my results are identical to your 2nd screenshot,
there is no 3rd line of text?
Using the first option what I see is very similar to your first screenshot with Vodafone instead of O2. But again no code that I can see.
I have tried inserting simcards from t-mobile and O2 however I never get asked to enter a code. Not that I have a code to enter, I wish I could work out where I am going wrong.

The phone is a friends who got it from someone it was on vodafone rru and had the branding on startup and shut down, before I rooted it and put on CWM and Nameless Rom, but when I try my t-mobile sim card it doesn't get a signal for when, unfortunately I do not know if this was an issue as it wasn't supplied to me with a sim card.
I will contact my friend and see if he can supply me his sim card so I can test it. Hopefully as you say it is unlocked. Not sure when i will get the sim card to be able to test it though.

hmmm when you say doesnt get signal.... i wonder if its because its a vodafone branded desire C... it will have everything for Voda hard wired in the device... and wont have any t-mo APNs etc. TMo arent exactly friendly when it comes to APN info unlike other providors like O2 & Voda
I wonder if that is the issue is that no data APNs are selected....

If you want to get your unlock code, you need to flash a Custom Rom, NAmeless For Example.
Once thats been done, you can install busybox and follow the instructions and you get your code.
i managed to succesfully unlock my Desire C
its a stock phone, bought it from Asda UK - on T-Mobile network
although it doesent have any t-mobile branding or carrier apps or boot up logo like most phones have
after unlocking my bootloader and using r1-superuser Root, it went very smooth
but one thing i did notice that seems odd, my IMEI is different in the command shell
to what is displayed in the phone
xxxxxxxxx584298 - displayed from phone
xxxxxxxxx5842901 - displayed on the command shell

Dialing *#06# won't work if the sim card that's inserted is invalid in the first place, so don't give up just yet.
I only own the factory unlocked N7000, so I'm not sure about this...but is it possible the one you have might be locked?

sorry to tell you that your imei seems to be wiped (this could happen one flashing custom roms or mess with odin)
if you are lucky you will find a EFS (emai) backup file (.tar or .img) so you can use it to restore your emai.
If you know the person who sold you the phone then tell him to give your money back or at least give you the backup.
maybe he knew it and wanted to cheat you... take action right now bro cuz the phone is not unbreakable without the backup.

[Q] No SIM-Card detection available after encryption

I'm using the Paranoid Android Final 4.41 Version on my SGS+
When I start the build in encryption, which encrypts the data partition the GSM Modem isn't working after the encryption process came to success.
I reproduced this twice. The phone doesn't detect the SIM Card anymore.
I'd like to post this as a bug report in the right SGS+ AP Developer Thread, but I'm not allowed to do so, because I'm a new user.
Maybe someone reading this here can answer this?

What does this mean? It is definitely not locked to the phone. Bought separately.

It means that your device works only with one carrier.
To see if your device is locked try a SIM card from a different operator. If it doesn't work then your device is locked.
If you want to unlock it read this.
Thanks for your description. It is definitely not locked. The phone was bought with no Sim Card and the card was bought separately. Other carriers are working.
Any other opinions?
