bigger samsung stock keyboard - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Hey,
Is it somehow possible to increase the height of the samsung stock keyboard beyond the stock values? I know I can adjust the size in settings but I want to make it bigger because I'm using quite low DPI. I'd there any setting or value I can change in root browser?
Same question for SwiftKey BTW. I know it's possible with gboard but I don't like it.
Thanks.

Stock keyboards always suck. Try A.i.Keyboard. I use to only rock Swift, not anymore. The amount of customization makes all others look like a joke. Look at screenshot how easy its to adjust like you asked.

Yeah you probably won't look back after some use. Go through the settings as well. Tons of options to pick to your likens. Also notice you posted asking for emoji. Dowload there add on for it and offers android, apple, 3rd 1 even better then android and apple.

The customization options are great but there was a huge data leak with this keyboard so I won't use it. But thank you anyway.

Gboard Settings -> Preferences -> Layout -> Keyboard Height.
It's superficial at best, but it gets the job done for me.

What i meant was that the maximun height it allows you to set it is no more than the maximum height of the Samsung Keyboard.

Good.
I've tried one and work like charm (I tried 130 and 135 as well)
problem is ROM manager scale incorrectly even with 'compatibility mode' turned off
I already tried to search the forum but have no luck
is there a way how to overcome this?
thx

Yes, I did it several times but the problem still persist
edit:
I think this behaviour are not consistent. sometimes when I reboot it, it's back to normal, but when I reboot it again, It went wrong again
weird
EDIT:
I can confirm now that after killing 'whole' task using task manager (or similar app), the problem is (always) gone. still don't know the culprit though.
Excellent work here my friend. Cheers.
Great app... I'm running at 130.
May I know what is the default density of our Legend? Tried to Google before I flashed this but couldn't find any info...
Edit: I tried LCDDensity for root from market and it told me the default is 160. Change to 140 and it looks great
Maybe I'm totally noob, but what's the point of setting a LOWER LCD density if the default is 160?
Correct me if I'm wrong but the higher the density, more things can be added to the screen and it "seems" bigger.
I'll try also to see the difference
Later Edit: OK, I've checked now. Tried with 130 and a lot more info seems to fit on screen. I have some questions/issues though.
1. What 110, 120...130...160 means? For sure not DPI as was my initial understanding. Usually, the higher the DPI setting, more screen space is available. And in this case I got better screen with a lower number. Could be the value of the setting then? And lowering it it'll give you in fact a higher DPI setting? Don't miss understood me, I just want to understand some of the things not playing with them like a robot.
2. Some widgets are scaled incorrectly (Sense Analog Small Black is one of them for ex). Any way to overcome this or is by widget design and I should find a better one?
Found a fix for 2...set the columns in ADW at 5 instead of 4. Now the widget is drawn correctly and have an extra space remaining

When your adding a widget you'll have the option to set the size, set the width to 5 and you're widgets you want full width can be. I had to do this with my clock/weather widget.
I set it to 140 and it looks awesome! To bad that it shrinks the keyboard too..
it doesn't work for me on BlaYo rom ... does absolutely nothing ... any ideas?

[Theme] [MOD] [REQ] Inverted colors in browser

Anyone else using inverted colors in the browser? At first when I found the setting I thought it was too weird but I've really grown attached to it!
I love AMOLED screens because of the awesome blacks and better battery life. For someone who uses the browser a lot you might consider giving it a try. I think it's much easier on the eyes too.
Some people seem to forget about the benefits of black in our phones but when you optimize your themes to be as black as possible it really is a beautiful thing.
where do I find this setting?

Ya... Actually, maybe it is a cm setting??? I couldn't say for sure because I just noticed it for the first time the other day. The setting is actually in the browser though. Hit menu (in browser) -> settings and scroll down.
Here's a pic. The images can tend to look a but funky but it's tolerable for the most part. It should just leave images alone imo but whatever.

Go into your browser and hit menu>more>settings and scroll down a bit. You'll see Invert or something like that and that is the setting.
I use it for the battery saving as well, though I do wish the text coloring was better but since that is the inversion of blue (for hyperlinks) I can't really complain.

If you are not using CyanogenMod, you can try the solution in my signature. A little crude but it works for me on my Galaxy S II.
(It should work on CyanogenMod too. Depending on your tastes, you might like this solution better.)

I agree, that is the one thing I hate about not having root access. If they were give us this option I would be inclined to not hate TW so much.

Don't talk about it, I miss per app DPI. It hurts
I wouldn't have left my S4 behind if i didn't have a small crack and a messed up chassis. I have to keep reminding myself that the battery life/camera/performance are worth it. But i am scared that it is a plausible reality that we get no root.

No skepticism, we'll get it . I did notice changing the font to extra small helped fit more on the screen in gmail and a some other apps, not the same as a higher DPI but it works for the time being.

I know this may not be what you want (if you actually like touch wiz) but you could always use a launcher, I know with nova you can change text size, icon size, rows and columns, and etc.

Change Nav Bar height?

Back with in S8+ days there were 3 apks floating around that allowed you to change the height of the navigation bar in order to increase screen real estate. I quite liked it as did a lot of other people I assume because you can find links to plenty of websites talking about it. However I can't find any talk about it for this phone.
Does anyone know of anything like this for the Note 8?
Still on the s8+ but considering getting a note 8 soon. Just out of curiosity, have you tried installing the same apk?
You can change the Minimum DPI setting in DEV settings to make it look higher res. I have mine set to 475 and it has a lot more space. You can then change the font size to be one mark below normal and it really helps.

Yep I had changed that. on both the S8+ and Note 8. That's good, but the nav bar still bugs me on this phone. Everytime I look at it, I notice it's too big lol
Hmm. I wonder if the guy who created the old apk uses an S8 and hasn't bothered to make one for the note 8. I'd imagine it is quite simple. Wonder if you could make the request?
Edit: I made a request to tigerhoods, who I believe authored the apk for the s8.
Here is the response I got:
it works when packed in a sammy theme if that makes sense..
u have to decompile a Samsung theme then add the nav values to the common.apk then recompile theme for it to take effect now

Looking further into how to do this, but I haven't yet been able to get my hands on the apk for the theme I've been using. But, from what I gather, you can't just install an apk to change the Navbar height with the note 8. You have to specifically edit the apk for whatever theme you're using.

Nothing new here?
If you mean something like that..... here are some overlay mods they are working without root. The 1 i have linked is to minimize the height a bit more then half.

Huawei‘s Mechanical Keyboard Emulator

Hello, can anyone please share the app for "https://www.gizchina.com/2019/11/30/huawei-mate-30-pro-mechanical-keyboard-simulator/" Huawei's mechanical keyboard, very curious how it works but i can't find it in my app store. Thanks!

tried and tested, swiftkey is better lol, had a headache with all the chinese config --- "mechanical emulator" is just the same vibration with swift key, but it has lots of themes if you're into it, thanks again for sharing!
hi guys i tested it and ir does workkkk
first you nees to change your keyboard to english en t26
then you must download cherry mx skin after that your keyboard will chage like a keyboard computer skin, is easy first download skin and search cherry. Find the skin that look like in gizchina article and download. After apply it your keyboard skin will change
and the vibration will change also ia differ than the swifft key in vibration the differ is hard to explain but one thing for sure is better is like the vibration have thing or tactile to it while swift key is just standard vibrate
Edit
The swift key feel like a vibrate
The cherr mx one feel like there a rythm to it similiar like you type on actual keyboard well it good but not great
Update
Even the standard baidu keyboard vibration is differ than the skin cherry mx vibra, i think is quite good alternative experience btw set to 50 or 60 because above that tje vibration feel to long /unreal
But when u change language to different like Chinese u loose theme
btw its most beautiful keyboard i ever seen, but only for chinesse...
