Hi!
This is my first post in this forum. I hope this is the right place for my question. If not please move it to where it belongs.
I’m thinking of buying one of those Android radios for my car. I read a lot in this forum and also googled a while. So I‘m now pretty sure that I‘d like to buy a radio that is able to run a custom ROM like KoTiX or Malaysk. If I understood well, then this would require at least a PX3 or better a PX5 Processor, correct?
Now the problems start. There is only the S160 for my car, which is quite slow from today’s point of view. An alternative could be something like that [sorry not able to post a link. Google for „a53 Android 208“] but this would have a larger display which I don’t like that much.
Do you know any other HU for my car? Or is there an option to replace the PX3 in the S160 with a PX5? There are some reports about that, but I m not sure if this would work with this hardware and if this would really make sense...
Best regards
Daniel

I am considering upgrading to the new 4G network my phone provider has upgraded to and have a few questions for you One fans. The choice is between Galaxy S4 and HTC One. I almost know the answer but where does the One excel? And 2: Is the One as easy to root and install new ROMs on as the Galaxy S III I have (or rephrased: is the One easy to root and install new ROMs on if you have no experiences to compare with).
I could not think of any place else to ask this, I have had so uch use of this site.

The better place to ask such a question is in the Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum, which is where I've moved this to
As a future reference, only development work belongs in the development forums. If the thread is anything else, it doesn't belong there.
Now, in regards to your questions, I'd honestly say the One excels throughout. I've had the phone since March (just after release) and not had a single problem with it since. Even the fact that mine is an early build hasn't presented any issues either. The thing I'd pinpoint as far as what impressed me the most is the BoomSound dual speakers. The volume and clarity is perfect and is still as good now as when I first got the One.
Rooting and installing ROMs is just as simple as with other phones as well. If you have a search around this forum you'll soon find guides and videos about how to root the One and installing ROMs is exactly the same as with other devices.
I hope this helps
Thank for the help moving my posting. There's a new contender, the Asus PadFone, but a serious drawback is that the pad is only working WITH the phone inserted.... The tablet tempts, though. A LOT. Desicions, desicions ;=) But it will probably be one of the two first, since they have the capability to act as IR remote for my stereo for a minimal amount. Any experience in that department, any one?? Does it work, without having it hooked up to a car battery under the reclining chair??

Hello guys,
I just received and aftermarket Head Unit I bought on Aliexpress. Can't post links yet, but it's name is : "Top-Quad-Core-Android-4-4-Car-Radio-for-Renault-Duster-With-Mirror-Link-16GB-Flash"
So far, here are the informations I got about it :
It's on android 4.4.2
It's running an Allwinner A33, a quad-core 1.6 ghz processor. (I didn't saw a single post about anything other than Rockchip processors, sounds bad already)
The model is a "Astar-y3'
The manufacturer is "tw"
MCU is : 5.3.18-23-10-E43101-160216
Based on the MCU, I couldn't even decide wether it was actually a MTCB or not.
Could anyone give me some infos on this ? I'd love some help to see what can be done to improve this little piece of hardware.
Thx !!
It's relatively easy to decide. The letters MTCB don't appear in the MCU version therefore is not am MTCB type unit.
Try Android head unit thread for assistance.

OK, thx for the info, that settle things I guess...
Can anyone make any recommendations for Chinese Android Flagship cell phones? Something with totally amazing Hardware that isn't skipping out on something? Like an octa-core phone or a Deca core phone with 4 gigs of RAM 64 gigs or better? With actual decent cameras an actual decent speakers. Not lacking in anything. Like having the full array of sensors. Fingerprint reader. Etc. Great benchmark scores. No bizarre gotchas.
I want to try one of the Chinese phones. Something that might be available on AliExpress or gearbest or something like that? Maybe even from a Us warehouse? Maybe even something that you could actually even get a case or screen protector for? Maybe something that could load other ROMs... although I don't absolutely need the ability to load ROMs.
One with a great version of Android on it. Something with great battery life. Basically I want it all. But I'd like to try a Chinese flagship.

Hi there,
There are threads already established that are devoted to discussions about devices, please read, and if necessary, repost your question in one of these threads: The what should I buy thread or the The Device Suggestion Thread or the The Device Comparison Thread.
There are also several other discussion threads that you probably should review to help you. They are What phone do you wish you had? or
The Worst Android Device That You've Ever Had & Why or even this place that talks about The best phone you ever owned.
I will have to close this one. Thanks for understanding.
Hey Folks,
So I just read the news. Chromecast Audio has been discontinued as a Google product, and I'm quite upset because I love it. I use mine every day.
I've been poking around the internet, and came across this section of XDA, and I'm honestly very pleased that someone has already not only dumped the ROMs from Chromecasts, but released rooted versions of it.
So I was wondering, since this is Linux at the core, is there any way we could build our own Chromecast Audio devices from other hardware and "Google Cast" to them like we normally do?
I'd prefer to just buy more Chromecast Audios, but at this point, I'm not sure if I'll be able to get my grubby paws on them now, let alone when I want more in the future. So Google really is forcing my/our hands here.
Like, surely we could hack this onto a Raspbery Pi, or some other integrated system we could plug into a speaker, yes? It is Linux after all.
But hey, I'd love to hear from someone who knows more on this subject than me. Namely the lovely people in this forum.
Thoughts?
BTW had to get a mod's help (SacredDeviL666) to get this posted. For some reason it kept triggering spam checks whenever I tried to post (even though I was passing ReCaptcha). How odd.
old Android phone?
Hello, I want to know if there is the possibility of using the Chromecast audio OS on an old Android so you can give new life to an old phone and stereo
