Huawei P10 screen and colder weather - Huawei P10 Questions & Answers

Dear clever people on Xda,
Thank you for your amazing website and hard work.
I was just wondering if anyone had the same issue with their Huawei P10 use during colder weather conditions.
Whenever it gets a bit colder (British winter - which is not so cold to be fair) my phone's screen gets this interesting darker coloured trial following the touch (what starts disappearing in a few seconds) I get to see lighter coloured horizontal lines which just does my heading...
This is my 2nd phone, as previously I have had a same issue and did return item back to the seller.
Now I have put this liquid screen protector to get that oleophobic coating so phone could be used without a screen protector and that is the only thing that I've changed on it.
When lines do appear on the screen outside I just warm it up with my breath and it dissappears for a bit, so I assume it has something to do with the temperature and glue on IPS panel keeping it together?
I've tried master reset hoping that it might be something to do with a software but didn't help. Not sure wtf is wrong with the bastard but would like to get it sorted somehow.
Any information / suggestions would be very much appreciated and thank you for your time.
Big up!

screen defect?

I just got a tilt about a week ago and ive noticed that in the middle of the screen there seems to be a purple greenish tint when put against incandescent light. The size of said glint varies in size but i'm unable to see what changes the size. Not sure if its heat or pressure or something. The touch screen works perfectly its just really annoying to always see such an annoying glint.
An interesting discovery is that when i press all four corners of the screen it disappears and when i press in the middle of the little square it seems to spread out. I feel like theres some kind of material or something in the touch screen that is causing this due to pressure. I keep it in a hard case in my pocket so the screen isnt pressed on inadvertently.
I've searched the forum for any answers but i havent seen anything about it. Any response or help would be greatly appreciated. I'll try to get a picture of it up asap but i left my camera at a friends house and dont know when im getting it back...thanks in advanced

Do you see the same "annoying glint" under neon light (not day / sunlight)?
Lots of NOKIA and SONY ERICSSON phones for example get this screen recolorization under direct sunlight - this has nothing to do with the screen being defective but with the plastic above the screen which breaks the light and shows you this colored spots. If you can't see the same spot under direct neon light then this might be the cause.
It is normal that you get color changes while pressing the screen in. First of, you press / bent the protecting plastic and the liquid within the screen which causes the incoming light to break in a different angle, therefore the color changes. (BTW: you shouldn't do that too often, it can cause permanent stains on your screen!).
There sure is the possibility that your screen gets pressure from underneath due bad assembling! If you're still under warranty, try to get a replacement.
yeah you cant see it in day light. but i feel as though there is constant pressure on the screen between the plastic and liquid since the spot is always there and doesnt really go away (unless of course in daylight).
well im thinking im going to go back for a replacement. thanks for the quick answer!

concave touch screen !

Hi
can anybody tell me how to resolve that problem ??
Unfortunately I had the habbit of keeping my phone in my jeans butt pocket, even when I switched to Diamond touch screened phone I kept doing that, but I realized that the screen got some slight concavity on it that even reflects as irregular pattern of colors seen only when screen switched off or when on but from a sharp viewing angle.
How to correct that ??? any ideas ???
Thanks
Replace the screen.
Change phone carrying habits.
It is a hardware issue, so not easy to fix. Beware that the screen is multi layered (touch screen) so it is possible that any physical shape alterations will seriously change the way it works. It happens that screens go weird when there's dust & debris between screen and the outside body of the phone...
Thanks for your reply
Is it worth it to replace the screen ?? or maybe its better off selling it for less cash then buy another one ?
I have noticed that there is a matrix of visible small dots 2 mm apart from each other, I guess this is the touch-sensing system.
Yeah, the touch-sensitive layer got squished. It should still work fine for now, but over time the touch sensitivity may get worse. The only way to fix it is to get it replaced. If it's still under warranty you should replace it that way, better than selling and buying a completely new Diamond. If not, you can replace it yourself with this: http://mobile.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=03449&dept_id=088&cat_id=0695
Thanks fhsieh for the info and link.
I will replace it when it fails eventually, now I am releaved and I know that I've got a solution

Strange circle/ring in the middle of the screen

Recently, I noticed the is a strange circle in the middle of the screen. When the screen backlight is off, it appears as a black circle. When the screen backlight is on, it appears as red/yellow/black ring. Somtimes it went away by itself, and other time I have to "wipe" it away with finger force.
Anyone know what is wrong?
2 questions
1) Have you tried removing the screen protection just to see whether its on the screen protection or on the main lcd screen
2) did you ever exposed lcd it to high electromagnetic waves??
1. I didn't remove the screen protector as I believe it's beneath the LCD film.
2. I don't think it has been exposed to any electromagnetic waves, as it appears after I pulled it out from my pocket.
I've had it too but it's gone now
I had the exact same problem a few weeks ago. The place I stayed was not well ventilated and I THINK it caused some water condensation to occur between the digitizer and lcd screen. I slept in an air-conditioned room the next day and it was gone!
My deduction is that you need a cool or cold environment for the stain to evaporate.
The same problem arises again, and this time it has been a couple days but it still did not go away.
It looks almost like a burn mark.
You may have a defective digitizer.
Found another thread talking about this:

This is the so-called 'Newton ring' in optics/Physics. It means that in that area, the thickness of LCD is slightly thicker/thinner than rest of the area. This is normally due to stress at that point. It is annoying but if there are no repeated color rings, like red/yellow/blue/red/yellow/blue, it should be fine. If you have alot of repeated color rings, the LCD may approach its life end.

Thanks for the info. When you said it should be fine, do you mean it will disappear, or it just won't affect usability?
It may disappear if the stress is released, e.g., you push the area a bit or you put it into different temperature environment. But I doubt it will disappear for ever. It was not there in the first place then it came. This means some sort of stress/pressure built up there. It should not affect your daily use a lot. It is just a visual effect. But if it gets worse, the colour rings will become very dense and sharp. It will affect you visual. I had a phone pinged on LCD sometime ago. It had similar rings like yours. But it was so dense I could not see any thing behind it. I had to change it for £35.
Also I looked at another previous comment about the humidity. It could give you the same effect. Maybe you can bake your phone a bit?

Huawei p9 black screen

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post or it's been covered already. I have a p9 stock that I changed the screen on after dropping it. Everything was fine until the new screen started to fail, it was a cheap eBay screen and the glass started peeling away. I fitted a new one and when I switched it on the backlight comes on but no image, backlight then flashes 5 times and then stays on. The phone does the one vibration like it's starting up but after that does nothing. I tried the reset procedures but doesn't help. It wasn't on USB debug so I can't connect with my pc. I first thought the screen was faulty so had the vendor replace it but still have the same problem. Could it be the main board has been damaged or the flex cable?
Sounds like a batch of bad screens. I would stay away from eBay when it comes to Huawei P9 screens, too many issues with them. Had ones that were refurbished or glass separating from the screen frame.
Buying it without the frame and applying the adhesive yourself seems to work better for me. Anyway hopefully you didn't kill the backlight circuit on your phone.

Backlight seems to be fine. You could be right, there's a faint blue tinge in one area.
Hey, did you ever solve this? I have the very same problem

Bright marks on Display

Hi fellow Sony-Fans
Recently i noticed several bright marks on my Display. First i thought it was just fingerprints or grease etc. So i removed the screen protector. But them marks where still there. Its pretty subtle but it's visible especially on a white background. It bothers me extremely. The support was no help at (ofc...). When i tilted the phone i noticed that those marks where actually the edges of a much bigger and round mark in the middle of the screen. I guess the heat of the battery somehow affected the screen. I can't upload a picture bc a network error occurs. But even if it's hardly to see. What can i do? I was always careful with the device. It was in a mumbi case and i had a screen protector on it to save it from drops. I bought the phone in March 2018. Shouldn't the warranty check this? (i live in Austria btw). Please show me a solution, it drives me crazy.
I have the same things since april 2018. I bought the first lot of the xz1 company (pre order).
Unfortunetly just a screen replacement will solve this.
This is also the reason I want night/black mode in my phone so much.
These are pressure marks - basically you need to swap display to get rid of them. They happen when the phone is in pocket and for some reason there is pressure - you fall, you sit, whatever. I've had it happen with Sony phones. During warranty period they have swapped the display.
