I don't understand what you mean by "put all apps to Wifi".
I do know that if you have a wifi connection with internet access (no ! on the wifi status bar icon) and mobile data turned on, then the system will use the wifi connection in preference to the mobile data connection.
If you don't want to use mobile data, you can just turn it off in Settings>SIM & network>Mobile data or from Quick Settings if you have it there. You will still be able to get phone calls and SMS.

mate let me explain
I want to try the free Facebook, so I need to turn on my mobile data for this.
so I did that but I don't want other apps use any data in background so I set all apps to "WiFi Only" also I did that for system apps
but my problem is even when I do that, it's still showing that I'm using mobile data and something using it in the background.
it was working alright on the android 7.
thank you!!

Ah, now I understand.
I assume that you can't tell from the Settings>Mobile data usage who is using the data?
I don't know if this is off any relevance, but there's a number of apps that have unrestricted data access (Settings>Apps> Special access>Unrestricted data access).
Have you considered running a network activity monitoring app?

I know the problem now
probably I have to disable the first choice "background data"
but I should do it for each app... and I have more than 130 app that's impossible...

hi,
i've recently noticed that my phone is constantly uploading data at 2.5 mbps whenever i connect to a wifi network. I assumed it was syncing my photos to FB or dropbox but then i turned off the sync and it was still uploading (i use network monitor mini to monitor the data transfer)
so my question is - Is there an app that can tell me which app or service is using up all this bandwidth ? i tried using onavo and even the default data monitor but they only monitor the 3g usage.
it could be google.. settings> backup & reset and untick backup my data..
you could use an app My Data Manager from the play store

I know this is all over the web but, all the activity I have seen is a month old so just thought I check out. Is there a way to quickly diaable mobile data. Seems absurd to me that google actually removed programatic access to this funcion.

Settings / data usage / cellular data toggle. I think it used to be under more/ cellular networks. You can also tap the cellular icon in quick settings and you'll see the toggle at the top.
This is on 5.0

I know of that path, What I meant was: every single apn disabling tool I tried stopped working. Before I used tasker to trigger APNDroid, but that's gone now. I think I wasnt clear before, sorry!

If you have root you might want to try my app/widget Toggle Data 5.0. It doesn't change APNs but I think it fits your purpose well.
I have a problem with my htc one m7. It seems that background data doesn't get turned on. I have the following settings:
mobile data: checked
limit mobile data usage: unchecked
alter me about data usage: unchecked
restrict background data: unchecked
sleep mode is also off
I use the stock rom with bulletproof kernel.
The app i use most is whatsapp. But i only receive messages when i open the app. When i play a online multiplayer game (which obviously needs internet connection) i do get the messages coming in.
I've searched on google and asked on another forum but i can't find any solutions.
Does anyone have a clue?
Help is appreciated!

haha no, thx
wish it was that easy!
Is there any way to exclude apps from data usage so I can get accurate warnings?
I am on T-Mobile and Google Play Music doesn't count against my data.

a firewall should work. last one i used was a long time ago - droidwall, but haven't used any recently.
I'm not trying to block the app from using data, I'm trying to remove it from data usage in settings.

Again, I'm not trying to turn off the data for that app. I want to exclude it from the data usage calculation because it does not count towards my data and I get false warnings that I'm over my limit.

He means having the Android data counter exclude a given app from the total used. AFAIK Android does not have this capability.
Need a tasker profile which can disable my mobile data only for some specific apps.it means If I start those apps then my mobile data would automatically disabled and when I close them Data service should be enbled. If any one know this or can help on this then That wud be very helpfull
No clue how to do this, or what I'm going to suggest. But, have you thought about maybe going the other way where you block all internet access to the app?
edit: actually a quick google search gave me all the answers keyword: block internet access android app

The secure settings plugin has a toggle for mobile data, you'd just have to trigger it with an app. I do this with GPS.
Edit: I tried it with mobile data but it throws an error. In theory it should work but doesn't seem to be.
