Hello everyone,
I am using Nexus 4 again after I managed to replace the battery and now I remember that even with a new one, the phone sometimes cannot last a full day.
I remember that I was using Faux123 Kernel on KitKat back in 2013 but that files are not longer available anymore since the host is dead and mirrors as well. Using that combination I would get arround 24 hours with a Nexus 4 battery.
I can say for sure that using 5.1.1 LMY48T and Sinai latest kernel you could last a day. I need faux control kernel for speaker amplification since the default speakers sound too low, also you can adjust the MIC gain. I posted a screenshot with battery running the 2nd day and I have to say it's quite OK.
It still is awake 27% but at least it will get me through the day.
Besides using stock ROM and different kernels what other settings would you recommend? I know for example that you can also use SINAI on Lineage the battery will drain very fast.
The way I use the phone:
no NFC, no GPS, data only when I am not at work (driving).
I will post here better results after more tests , I am mostly interested in using a 7 version with latest security patch.
I thank all the devs once again for keeping this phone alive for such a long time!

Try the Matr1x kernel, which is based on Faux123
or
mod by JaMeVu
and write something more about the tests.

thank you very much!
With stock ROM and Sinai latest kernel version I got 2 hour of SOT and 12 hour of battery after first day after installation.
I will post screenshots tonight being the 2nd day.
I have also been informed that Chroma ROM has a 5-6 hour SOT ROM that could last 2 days. I will try to test that as well.

Probably my favorite rom for nexus 4. Using the hellspawn kernel (https://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...wn-n4-t3347850) with smartmax CPU governor and alucard CPU hotplug. Helps make the battery last a long time when streaming music.
I now have installed Pure Nexus and I got 16 hours of battery yesterday with 3 hours of SOT.
I think it's fair to say that it's great for everyday use and the default kernel has Faux123 support and you can modify CPU via kernel apps.
Believe me or not but, I just bought a Nexus 4 at eBay, so I decided install latest lineage OS build available at their servers, everything was running okay, perfomance, app install, camera has some bugs for now, including a weird bug at the video call that make my phone have BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH (BSOD) so that was weird and having that issue, despite the battery drain, so well, I just noticed that my battery was draining fast and charging take more than 4 hours on a battery of 2100mAh using a charger of 5.0v and 2.0A, wait, I forgot mention that the charge I'm using now is a Samsung Fast Charger so in my opinion maybe the fast charger is regulating the 2.0A to 1.67A which is the function of this charger, in this case i just being tired of slow charging, fast drain, BSOD and other certain problems with lineage OS kernel, I've installed the latest SLIM ROM for Nexus 4 in his stable version and all my problem were gone, the battery drain still there's since is a lineage OS kernel based but is less drain than lineage OS rom which was making me charge the phone up to 5 times per day, using SLIM ROM now i Have to charge my phone at least 2 times per day which i see it normal honestly, if this help, maybe using a custom slim rom can make your battery last long time, if you want use custom rom instead of stock

I have Pure Nexus ROM for over a month and I am very happy with battery life. I only charge it at night and when some drainage occurs I put the kernel into power saving governor.

Can anyone report on the battery life after about a day or so use? I heard previous comments about poor battery life with CM 5.0.3, and I want to know if the new release is superior, inferior, or about the same.
I installed 5.0.6 last night around 9 pm.
So far I've gone 58 hours and the battery seems the same as test 3.
....
Battery is much better now on the current build.
Is it due to Kernel or the ROM itself? I prefer using an alternative kernel. Will I get those new battery "advantages" as well?
test 3 is the current build as changelog is the same as test 3, so if your on test 3 there is no need to update.

After using Samsung stock ROMs for over a year I finally switched to CM7.1(Stable) last week. But the battery life I'm getting now is not as good what I used to get with Samsung stock ROMs. With JVT I easily got 24hrs, but now I cant go beyond 15hrs with same usage patterns (3G during day and WiFi at night, few short calls and around 50 SMSs, with a bit of web browsing and some online audio streaming). Did anyone else notice a similar battery life drop going from a recent stock ROM to CM7.1 ?
I ran the CM7 nightlies until recently and came back to JVT because of battery life and the hello hello bug. I use my phone as a music player for most of the day and find that stock ROMs hardly deplete the battery at all, with CM7 I was getting the same sort of life as you.

For me, CM 7.1 Stable drains battery a lot. I've changed to JVP modem and it seems to be a bit longer, maybe I'll try with Fugu kernel.
Looks like I'll be going back to JVT. Idling battery drain is way too much. For example I charged it around 8 last night and by 12 noon today, battery is down to 45% mostly just idling and few texts. This is as bad as original eclair release came with the phone.
I personaly dont find there to be a huge difference but i am on Bell which is HSPA only (3G all the time)
i find i always have to recharge by 4 pm (8 am wake up) but i am a heavy user. I am waiting for my extended battery so i can make it through a day.

What was the last stock ROM you used ? I used to get similar battery life with earlier ROMs, sometimes I had to charge it twice in a day depending on usage. But with recent ROMs (2.3.3 and up), I ever hardly charged it twice, despite very heavy use (more than an hour of calling , GSM/VOIP, about an hour of internet audio streaming etc..). IMO stock ROMs are really good at idle power consumption, I have managed to get 2 days with light use, a full day with moderate use and more than 10hrs with heavy use.
EDIT : CM7 is smoother and quicker; I also like the customizability. I’ll again give it a try when ICS comes out , but till then I'm back to Samsung Stock, because poor battery life simply kills the experience for me. Perhaps I can squeeze couple of hours more with some tweaks, but I doubt it'll be as good as JVT.
I myself have come back to 2.3.5 xxjvt cos coming from cm7.1 and darky 10.2 final..i should say stock rom can have a standby time of more than 24hours believe that..otherwise ics might have a lot more to over than gingerbread

Hello U all.
Can somebody give me a link to the CM7.1 stable for i9000?

Hi guys,
i recently sold my crappy Xperia Tipo (i goddamn hate it) and bought an S3 Mini, i love it, it's my first day with it, but i'm having serious issues with the battery life, it discharges too fast,
When i bought it i drained all the battery, then charged it (turned off) to 100%.... but still its draining too fast.
The phone is brand new... i don't know why it discharges so fast, it's on android 4.1.2:
Should i update to a custom rom? i would like to taste KitKat, that CM11...
Do you suggest it?

The battery is not our great ally here xD
But custom rom have bugs, no matter what ppl say.. they have and will have for a while...
IF you dont care about warranty and want to take the chance to improve your cell, yes, there are some good roms to upgrade Jelly Bean to KitKat or just update to 4.3
Personal, Maclaw have a great work done in his CM and Carbon (Don Like at all Slim or OAKP ) that work with kit kat, still in process; in the case of 4.3 dont know, i just did the jump from 4.1 to 4.4
I'm actually using Mac CM 11.0 and I have to charge it every night, the same as with a Stock ROM / based custom ROM. I'm actually doing around 5 to 6 hours calling and a little bit of Line/Whatsapp during the day.
It's faster, and I like Open Source ROMs the most, because of the design, but it's up to you.

hey guys,
the road so far:
I started rooting and installing TWRP recovery in my phone, then i updated to Maclaw Kitkat 4.4.2 and flashed gapps...
i noted that the phone improved just a little bit, because without the bloatware it's much better, i don't have any bugs actually...
From 5 am to 11.30 am it went down 3% without 3G, i went to sleep and lost 3 % that's a little bit better...
I suggest to do a full rom backup with TWRP and try a new custom rom, 4.4 or 4.3!!
leave this post open for if someone knows something else about the battery life.

Dont know much how long is battery life with the stock rom, bcause i started using the phone directly with the CM11 of maclaw. I am running the 20140120 version, and i am always reading about the news and comments of the last maclaw's release.. (think i will do an update soon..)
I see that battery life increase changing the governor ( abyssplug ) and the I/O scheduler ( sio ). I dont use wifi so much but often 3g data connection (chat, mail pushing, some internet surfing etc..) , listen music, make some photos... airplane mode during night!
after 1,5 day of use.. i should charge!
had an xperiaE before with a stock 4.1.2 jb and the battery life was greater... ( but is completely another device with another hw and os .. )

I'm kindda pissed of with the Xperia line, my friend had the Xperia U and smashed it across the hallway because after hours and hours of flashing new roms it always came down to poor...extreme poor performance haha.
What's the governor ?
governor takes control of which the CPU is used... there are a lot of threads about...or just google the word and you will find a lot of literature..

hi
What rom would give me a few days battery life for Samsung Galaxy S III mini GT-I8190???, Id love to see lollypop on it
I've tried a few ROMs, including Albinoman's CM11 (4/24 official and a few nightlies) CM10.2 (the newest October official, I forget the date ). So here's my question: Out of all the JB+ ROMs out there, which ones have you had the best experience with, in regards to battery life? Right now I'm running Albinoman's CM10.2.
Also, any battery life tips would be appreciated. Currently, I am doing the following:
LCD brightness turned down
LCD off when not in use
Wifi/GPS off when not in use
Processor slightly underclocked
Unnecessary/unused apps removed/disabled/stopped
Haptic feedback off
In all honesty, I think my best battery life ROM has to be albinoman's CM 11.

I have to agree with Isaac. I'm running the 5/15 nightly and my battery life has almost doubled with BT and GPS turned on. I just turned BT off and set location to "battery save" so I'm hoping to squeeze even more out of it.
Don't get too excited about my doubled claim. Prior to CM11 I was running Paranoid Android (Jellybean I believe) as my daily driver and would get about 6 hours of battery life on standby. With CM 11 I get around 11 hours with light use, the Vivid is just abysmal when it comes to batteries.
Now that MMS is working the only complaint I have is with the in call mute feature not functioning, but I can live without that for now. I plan on running CM11 as my daily driver for the foreseeable future.

You're the second person that's said the 5/15 nightly has good battery life. I'll probably flash it Monday.

Ain't that the truth. I'm sporting a 3500mAH extended battery and I get like 12 hours with light use. Can't wait until I can afford to upgrade and put the Vivid on a permanent leash. Maybe make a media server out of it.
Well I stand corrected. I'm still running the Albinoman 5/15 nightly (loving it) and over the weekend I conditioned the battery by running it dead and then overcharging it while it was turned off. I now get 24 hours on light usage and about 10 hours on heavy usage. I had tried this process on other builds and versions but this is the first time it's actually worked. The battery I'm using is the battery that came with the phone. I'm amazed!

Don't unplug it or turn it on once the charge indicator turns from orange to green. Keep it plugged in and offline for another 2-3 hours.
As you all know with the Nougat update the battery life has become terrible for most of the users. So I'm making this thread so that we could list ROMs that still give that original battery life before the Nougat update. Both Marshmallow and Nougat ROMs are welcome. GO!

Already discussed here
Stock oos (beta also) and Franco kernel
My battery life with oos non beta was better with flash kernel instead of franco kernel, device also felt faster.
Im currently on LOS (Tugapower) and battery life is decent as well.
But from what i heard so far it seems that CM13 was best for battery, but i have no personal experience with that on OPO3T
OOS ROM + blu spark kernel

My batterylife is great, 5-6 hours SOT and 24 hrs. off the charger. BTW the best roms for stellar battery life are the ones that have no user installed apps, disable auto-sync, screen brightness set on 10% and only use wifi connections But then why would you buy a smartphone?

Do you have gapps installed and are you on 3g/4G or just WIFI ?
who's going call this terrible battery life in nugget?
that's beta6+franko23 with 4g all the time
I get nothing similar to these results. I've got freedom OS latest beta 6 and bluspark 125 and I can barely get 5 hours of SOT even with brightness really low and only on WiFi
Stock OOS 4.1.3 with franco kernel.
2 hours SOT
22 hours up time
61% remaining
4g only, no Wifi
I am using 3 uk 4g I live in London
I got the same problem , one plus 3t tried all ROMs all kernels , I bought franko kernel app from market and ex kernel , so I got the pro version, I can't get more then 3 hours I don't know if is my device or my battery, I tried a tutorial to disable all Google sync's and Google now and more services , I don't know what to try , I think the battery is not equal made from this Chinese company,
My nexus 6 is non rooted latest firmware 7.1.1 latest security patch I got 3.20 hours screen on time, so I am wondering where is that power efficiency of Snapdragon 821 processor?
Next time I will not buy anymore that (flagship ) device
Also super big screen burn
For £120 I can get Moto g plus dual SIM with Snapdragon 625 super power efficiency I can get 6 hours screen on time , also dual SIM .
Flagship killer

Perhaps LineAge from sultanxda is a good choice. I heard, that it has great battery life. Still testing, seems good.
It seems that battery life is inconsistent. Maybe they were shipping with different battery units, different brand, factory or something? For ma total max is 5h SoT in 20-24h.
