Can't access ProjectMenu - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Hey there! So I have a problem. I was trying to go back to stock with a guide in this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/rom-huawei-p9-magic-rainbow-t3601064 . When I flashed update.zip, I was stupid enough to reboot my phone. Everything was looking fine. Untill I tried to access the projectmenu to se the USB mode to Manufacture mode. I entered this code into my dialer: *#*#2846579#*#* . The dialer just went back to the recent calls menu. So I tried to update, but the update failed. The last thing I tried was to flash the stock rom again with dload, but the problems kept occuring. I hope someone can help me, because I'm clueless.

Were you able to solve this? Im currently having issues with magiskhide which could be because of logging not being turned on so I tried to access the project menu and just like you said, it goes right back to the call log without the project menu popping up

what build number? if build number are different from original , then project menu can work, and can not

What do you mean different from original?
I'm on FRD-L09C432B407
That's an Honor 8 but if you have a fix it might still work

Did you find a solution for this? I’m having exactly the same problem. Already tried a factory-reset but without success.

Metro flashed Diamond trouble

alright guys still can't get this damn thing to work. I somehow have the last off digit incorrect on my phone number. I found this out when I tried to call my voice mail . So I assume this could be part of my problem . So I dial ##778# and go in to edit mode and try to fix the phone number. I go through and edit the incorrect number on everything I saw that had it. Then saved the settings and the phone restarts and when it does it sets everything back. . So I tried the Gaurdian removing cab file with no luck . Still can't edit my nam settings. So I took to my Metro guy who tried everything he could he even reflashed it with Houdini and still no luck. I know someone here knows what is causing this.

Phone does not connect to Network (started after being stuck at samsung logo)

Hi everyone,
I rooted my note and was using Jon ROM V3 for the last 3 months. Never had any malicious apps and my phone was working as usual.
Yesterday I took my phone and see that it is stuck at Samsung logo (an hour ago it was working fine). Tried reset and re-flashed ROM but no luck.
Later through download mode i flashed Official Indian Firmware(I live in India). Now I by passed the logo screen and the phone shows full signal bars but not able to connect to carrier network.
(tried all basic work out like removing battery/sim and re-inserting to phone and boot up)
I pressed power key and it did not show the power menu , it directly switched off mobile.
I rooted again with Philz kernel and flashed JON ROM. Still i see that my phone is not able to connect to any network. Also I observe that even here on this ROM when i press power key it directly turns off.
This is weird. I thought my IMEI was wiped off but im lucky to see that its still there.
I need your help. Im without my phone for the last 2 days now.
-
Jonathan
Note - I find that my IMEI number has been changed (to some generic IMEI 004999010640000) after i flashed the official firmware !!!! that's why it is not connecting to any network.
Someone please help me.
How did you flash the official firmware?
was it a tar file or a zip? I mean did you use odin?

It was a tar file The official Indian firmware I got from sammobile
either a glitch or you selected by accident clear efs.
anyways without efs backup hard to recover emei.
Do you get the simcard enter pinscreen on boot? If you dont then its not imei, if you do then you need someone like cvxcvx, search to fix it. That or Samsung

No I do not enter pin for simcard. I see my imei has been changed to 004999010640000. I tired fixing one problem and got onto another.
I guess there is no way other than sending my device to Samsung !
Anyways I appreciate your help. Thanks

You have a so called "developer IMEI". If you didn't safe your EFS then there is no real chance to restore it yourself.
There is a member (cxlcxl) who has hardware and can restore the original IMEI remotely.
But you still can use your device. Try to change the Sim Pin in the settings: you can use the same Pin for old and new (this is easier for me because sometimes I forget the new number).
After this the network connection should come back.
My workaround in my Pristine Custom Rom: one different jar-file that doesn't have the checks on startup from my old XXLSC dump. With this it works completely normal: Sim and Pin are always recognized from startup. I'm using this for many months now.

Aha , yes not joking.

VIE-L09 seems to be totally screwed!

Hey,
So i used the SRK tool to try and root my VIE-L09C40 (P9 Plus)
Something seemed to happended during the rooting procedure and when i entered e-recovery it said it had to Download a new version, but couldnt connect to internet via wifi.
Any ways it seemed to work after a while but now i have no keyboard at all, so i cant literally start my phone.
it starts, boots the EMUI 5.0 logo and goes through the information a terms, i click the ok button and thats fine.
Next it tells me to sign in to my wifi, i select my wifi and when i go to type the password all i have is google voice as a keyboard, ive searched and searched but cannot find a way around it, also the frp has tripped on phone so i cannot log in to my google account without a keyboard.
How can i get around this?
do i have to flash parts of firmware?
any help would be great, i sent it away to hauwei and they say warranty void due to software!, can only assume something wrong was flashed?
Waiting for phone to be returned now, please help
I had the exact same issue last night as well. No keyboard and only an option to enter details with voice.
Ended up with an essentially bricked phone. Couldn't find any info on the problem online, so I have to improvise.
I'm starting from scratch after formatting etc. using stock oeminfo, recovery and rolling back to Marshmallow. (fingers crossed ADB will let me, because it was giving me errors before)
Will let you know if I'm successful and the steps I took.

Good luck, i did read that it might be possible to install the base firmware back to it and then update again.
Im sure we are not the only people this has happened to and if you succesfully do this, maybe consider making a full step by step guide so to help others.
Fingers crossed

Will do my best.. So far it's been a major. I've managed to flash a working stock ROM and boot up. But there are a few things to smooth out. Such as, I have no IMEI number now and the build is C900, also the bootloader is modified.
To get it to boot I had to use DC- Phoenix to flash a factory firmware(Chinese) which I had to pay for. Then I flashed a stock vie-l09c432b181 ROM over the top.
To repair the IMEI I'll have to use HCU, which I'll have to pay for as well. But that's ok. If I can get my original IMEI back, I can use the original unlock code I got earlier this year, otherwise I'll have to get a new one based on a new IMEI.
I can repair the bootloader and region code using twrp etc. so that's not a problem.
I'm actually using the phone to write his reply, so I can at least use it.
Once I have it all 100% working I'll try to put together a full step by step.
Cheers.
Well, I have a working phone. But, it'snot stable. Having trouble with mobile connection, sms, mms, 4g etc not staying connected. So wont be doing any write-ups just yet.
Not until it's stable.
I'm wanting to return it to complete stock now. And that requires trying to find an oeminfo file for C706 (New Zealand).
Will add more as I get there. Sorry.
I had the same problems. All I did is updated the phone with the firmware you want via Twrp . Be warned that it will replace the recovery back to stock. Also clear the cache and etc.
I had a similar issue with SRK tool, bootlooping, won't flash new firmwares, lost all the stock apps and diagnostic tools.
I'm now stuck on a TEST-KEYS build with no NFC or Bluetooth.
My solution was to throw the piece of junk in a drawer, forget about it and I went and bought a Pixel XL instead - a phone that is properly supported and gets updates quickly.
After much messing and a headache I finally got to c432b370
And everything back to normal

You probably want to make sure you're using the system default dialer app - any app other than the default dialer isn't allowed to execute special codes, in general.
If you have installed a different one (like, say, the Google phone app), switch the default back to the Huawei phone app and try the codes again, from the Huawei phone app. A good one to test with is *#*#4636#*#* which should bring up more detailed network information.
Also: you don't need to post this across half a dozen unrelated topics.

Check settings and make sure it's actually set as the default dialer - even if it's the only dialer app, if it's not explicitly selected, the codes can fail to work.

Respected brother I have another problem as well if you are kind enough to help
I have strange issue I can't find my wifi in erecovery every other wifi is visible and secondly I am emui8. 377 when I try to flash approved emui 9 it starts flash and 5% it says failed. I even tried to flash. 377 firmware but it also fails. What I am doing wrong I download the update.zip and extract it on SD card dload folder then go into project menu *#2846579#* and update SD card.
Please help
Thanks in advance
Sorry to bring this thread back to life. But I was fitting a new screen for a friend on his P10. When I realised that none of the codes will work except the *#06#. There is no other dialer installed, I've checked default apps and phone is set to default. Any other ideas why the codes wouldn't work?
Same problem that DonnieDio is having, after changing the screen none of the codes work and my wifi doesnt work unless i am 1 meter from the router
Did you fix your issue with the Dialer? I have the same problem here !

Redmi Note 9 - How do I restore my IMEI? I don't have a backup of my nvram/nvdata but I have the numbers.

How do I write IMEI along with baseband version back to my phone? I really don't want to risk bricking it again, that's enough stress for me in the past two days
I heard that I can only flash IMEI 2 back to it, and if I want flashing IMEI 1 as well I'd need to install a custom rom on the phone. So if that's a solution I'd love if someone could help me with it. MIUI 13 is slow and laggy af (which is the reason I bricked the phone in the first place, to install a better ROM).
But here's something, when I flash the phone's firmware through fastboot, issues start to rise (as per my experience with it so far), but through SP Flash Tool, it's alright. So I'd love to know if installing custom ROMs using the tool would be alright, if not then if recovery is required or if fastboot is fit for the job. If that's an issue I'd love if someone could give me advice when it comes to it.
Old post 1: (not my current situation)
"Long story short, I bricked the phone and after months, I've finally been able to repair it (downgraded from MIUI 13 to MIUI 11), but I lost my IMEI. I have the phone's two IMEI numbers, but I could not find any tool to help me write it to the phone. Either that, or I don't know whether the phone should be turned on or off, or if there's any special mode that's required for that matter.
Help would really be appreciated."
Old post 2:
"It happened after manually installing engineering ROM on it, now I can only doubt it's BROM mode that's working and nothing else, but I'm not sure. SP Flash Tool doesn't want to work with the phone since I want to flash the stock rom back. I really need help please."

The reason why my phone broke in the first place was due to flashing a misc.bin file after following a YouTube tutorial. It was part of a process to download twrp on the phone unofficially. Since then I started looking for ways to fix it until I finally found a post that had to do with fixing nvdata corruption (which was the error I had prior to fixing the phone) which helped.
So yeah, I don't think I can trust flashing ROMs on my phone as much as before, but I'll still try the engineering ROM thing.

Yep, it doesn't show up as it's name or "Android", it shows up as MediaTek USB Port (COM3), that's why I doubted it to be in BROM mode.

I always recommend a NV Backup before messing up with your own device, that's all I know.
Download the file attached here but remember you can fix only second IMEI using this method. Please don't try to fix both IMEI or NV Data will be corrupted again.

The guy in the video is using MIUI 12, I have MIUI 13. I don't know if that's an issue but someone in the comments said something about MIUI or so. I'm not a professional but many times when I see tutorials they're very specific with the MIUI version.
Also, I'm not sure how to back up nv data, do I use mtkclient or is it somewhere in the attachment you sent me?
And one more thing, my phone's baseband version is unknown, could that affect the process?

The phone keeps rebooting when connecting it to Maui META. Like it shows META MODE at the bottom of the screen but then it turns off. Now it's bootlooping. I guess I'll have to flash MIUI on it again. At least I still have access to fastboot and recovery.
Update: NV Data corrupted after flashing MIUI, but I got a solution that hopefully works.
Update 2: After flashing MIUI 11 (along with some other nvdata and nvram files, i think they're just empty), it works now and the error is gone. But as I said IMEI issue's still there. Maybe I would need engineering ROM for this one? Although it bricked my phone before.
Also, the phone started bootlooping before attempting the Maui META thing, so maybe it's either the manual formatting of partitions or the files I flashed on it.
