Charging Issues - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

So 3 days ago my note 8 got wet and since then I haven't been able to charge it while it's completely powered off. It only charges while in safe mode and normal mode. Turning on the phone while it's plugged in to the wall will put it into a bootloop until it's unplugged has anyone else experienced this?

They said water resistance, so when I 1st got mine took a shower with it. Have no such issues. Probaly stupid ideal don't judge me ha. How long ago did this happen? After it's wet it won't charge till dry and should be prompted at the time. How long did you wait after it got wet to try and charge? I waited 24 hours just to be safe.

When I plug in the charger while in safe mode and then turn the phone off it gives me the moisture detection warning

you'll be able to charge it in regular mode if you power it off and then plug it in just when Samsung logo shows powering back on

my moto x won't turn on....

I recently bought a new phone and left my moto x in my backpack. it ran out of battery maybe a few days ago and won't turn on. it has a green charging led for a few minutes but then turns off and will not turn on until i let the battery die out. the phone is black and unresponsive. please any help would be appreciated
First, try a different cable and charger and plug it in well over an hour.
And when you do plug it in, do you see the Battery picture?

If you've let it sit a long time charging and there's no sign of life... It's sounding like hardware failure or something nasty.
Have you tried holding the power button a very long while? Up to a minute even?
Have you also tried both volumes and power for awhile?
Not much any one here can do if there is no sign of life at all I'm afraid.

Well, it must be hardware. You're going to have to send it in. There's definitely no Troubleshooting or things to try flashing if there is no sign of life. Without bootloader or recovery, there's not a thing you can do I'm afraid.
is there anyway to connect it to fastboot? just a shot in the dark

[Q] which Adapter card for wireless charging?

So i see there are 2 sets of "pins" on the inside back of the note4; some right above the battery, and some just to the left of it.
Which pins are the "charger" pins?
which "adapter card" have you guys found to work the best?
The replacement charging back is going to be expensive, and these internal "cards" that sit on top of the battery, seem to be in the 10-20 dollar range..
Thanks!

I believe the extra pins somehow reroute NFC signals to allow both technologies to work hand in hand.. That links you to the thinnest qi receiver I could find.. If you find a receiver with only one set of pins it probably will block NFC. The .6mm still make the phone feel lumpy to me, plus it's not centered nor attracted to magnets.. I'm going back to the official Samsung back which worked fine but adds significant thickness to the phone
When you compare pictures of s view cover with and without wireless charging, the one with charging has two additional pins under camera.

fast charge settings?

Hi forumers!
So i just bought the Note 4, and received it yesterday.
I tried charging it this morning when it was at about 57%
it was plugged in for almost an hr and only charged 5%...
whatever happened to fast charge?
I was using the charger that came with the phone, it's not like i was using an extension cord...
So I've tried putting it on regular power saving mode, still nothing.
i checked the settings and fast charging was disabled completely...
Now that i'm at work (no charger) .. it's enabled again
I also didn't think the phone was overheating..
Does anyone know what's going on with that ???
all helps are appreciated !
Thanks guys!
make sure when u charging in setting battery part and its plugged in make sure it doesnt say charging usb it has to say ac charging if not its registering as a usb maybe u have a faulty charger
You got something else going on. Send phone back for replacement

No Fast Charging after updated to the latest Nougat version (200MB) update

Hi,I'm using the exynos version of galaxy note 8, currently running stock firmware on this version
Before the update, the fast charging running normally, but after this update the fast charging doesn't work although the fast cable charging option has been ticked..
Sometimes its running, but mostly its not.
I wonder if anyone facing this same issue as me or already fixed this issue.. thank you !

Is it ? I didn't know about this..
But at the previous software version it does charge faster with fast charging status.. at the lock screen also stating cable charging instead of fast charging.. the estimated time also different ( 1h10 vs 1h30 ) for example

Hmm, maybe you try reflashing your system with odin
try simple things first, clear cache in recovery and reboot, if it doesn't work then maybe just wait the few days for Oreo and see if that fixes it, full reset should always be last option
Also check your cable and port.
Mine was a bit dusty and stopped fast charging as well.
Cleaned it and it was fine again
Most likely not a software issue, it would be hardware which doesn't necessarily mean you phone, as tbe others said could be the cable or even the adapter. I never use the stock Samsung cables, IMO they suck & wear out fast.
I've never had a problem with fast charging, cable or wireless. I'm on a new fw version than you & even when I was on RA8 I never had an issue.

If it's a hardware issue it would be my device though... i used a fast charging power bank before, and the status would become fast charging, lately it doesn't..

To get lint and stuff out I use a can of compressed air and a small toothpick. But unless there is a lot of lint in there i'm not sure if it will fix your problem.
Worth trying tho I think

Why you dont test it by yourself, Mr. Right?
I'm happy believing Samsung instead of a 3rd party app with Google adds in it
I have a 950F 128 gb, the first day I tested many things, including fast charge, and it did not fast charge when screen on, after 2 software updates it behaves exactly the same way, anyway, I really do not care about it, I never use it, as it puts more stress in the battery

Yeah both these comments are true...
With a fast charger plugged in it will display fast charging but it's not actually fast charging. But this is a good indicator to let you know your cable & charging adapter is supporting fast charging. As said, it's not actually fast charging until the display is turned off.
Plug in a USB voltage/current tester & you will see. Don't have one & you want to test for yourself. Compare charging times with display turned off & display set to never turn off. It's not just the Note 8, has always been this way since fast charging came out, at least on Samsung devices.

Battery swap issue.

Hello everyone. I have recently bought new battery for my nexus 6 (Akku powercell).
After swapping battery to the new one phone doesn't want to power up (plugging in charger shows full battery icon and restarts. Additionally under charger I can access bootloader but the phone wont start/enter recovery - each try ends up in the charged battery icon loop).
Replacing the battery back with old one and everything works fine and dandy.
I've checked the new battery with a multimeter and it shows ~3,7V so should be charged enough to boot. Maybe anyone has an idea what could be the problem? Is it something related to me not getting new wireless charging coil along with new battery?
Should I try and misplace the wireless coil connection to motherboard on purpose (I'm not really using it anyway so not a big deal)?
Any help will be appreciated.

In case you used the standard quick charger....Use a different charger to charge the new battery for at least one hour. Maybe the new battery is not compatible with the N6 charger
In the LG Nexus 5 there is also an equal detail and the problem is that the center line of the battery is responsible for measuring the temperature of the battery and not making good contact with the motherboard the cell is immediately turned off to avoid damage , I would recommend that you check the centerline of the new battery

Its more like the phone doesn't see the battery. I can unplug its connection on the motherboard, plug in charger and have the exact same result like with it plugged in. Old battery works just fine, altough I can feel its age (accubattery shows around 75%).

Hmmm, could You maybe point me to the specific thread? I can't quite the understand what do You mean with the middle line.
And what country do You live in that You can't get a nexus 6 battery if I might ask? You could always order from china, or try searching for an ez30 battery - might pop up few local (country-wise) shops who might still have them.
I'm not saying it's your specific case but it could have something to do

I live in Ecuador and for the ridiculous tariffs and delays of the customs of this country it is a martyrdom to import that is why I can not easily get the battery of my Nexus 6 since mine is failing since 30% goes out
---------- Post added at 07:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:26 PM ----------
In short the batteries of all the cell phones bring a temperature sensor, some batteries bring 3 contacts as in Nexus 5 that one is +, the other is GND or Negative and the middle line is from the temperature sensor of the battery, now in the Nexus 6 is 4 only that the additional line is sensor but separate, if the battery is placed and the cell phone does not read a temperature it automatically turns off to avoid equipment damage

Ah this way. Now I get it, thabks for the link too! And sorry to hear that : /, If You can manage to fit the other battery (is connector the same?) then the only hurdle might be the battery frame and putting backcover back on, but a decent case might accomodate for the backcover.
What I would recommend is that if you have voltage in the battery according to what I read before then the battery circuit if it would be worth, then with a needle try to close the pins or contacts of your new battery

Well, You are MVP dude , someone in that nexus 5thread mentioned trying to put something between case and battery connector, I cut a piece of business card, folded it in half, put it over the battery connector and a little under the frame and to my surprise, phone booted up!
