Stock Firmware Update with TWRP Available? - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Hi, I'm using B395 Stock Firmware, with TWRP installed.
I want to upgrade to B397.
Then, can I flash these 3 files (excluding L19 file) in TWRP?

I want to flash these files

Since b397 is not PV you cannot use DLOAD method. Since it is not Approved, you will need to use no-checked recovery:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/eva-nocheck-recovery-flash-unapproved-t3705125
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75248786&postcount=64

I know that NoCheck Recovery.
But I want to know whether I can flash those update files with TWRP Recovery or not.

Need help to downgrade from Nougat to Stock Rom

Hi all, i've been trying to fix this for 2 days and still failed to get it working.
I regret that i quickly jump into the nougat build and would like to get back to stock rom for now.
I tried downloading all the ROMs at stock rom thread and keep on encountering error when update reached 51% with software package/update failed error message.
I'm using P9-L19 and hopefully can revert back to C636 roms.
Thanks.:crying:
have you try this?

As someone new to this, this seems kinda complicated.
I'll give it a try. Just have to follow the instruction in the video?
Download the stock rom to external memory card in dload folder and use this code in phone dialer
*#*#2846579#*#*
And select update system
Flash update in dload don't work
Please help
Is your bootloader unlocked? Do you have a twrp backup?
I don't know if that's a good idea, but you could wipe system partition in twrp then flash stock recovery and try stock rom again? Going by the assumption that your current system is causing the update to fail.
Maybe nougat beta has a new recovery that won't flash old firmware? So maybe try an old recovery?
I'm just brainstorming though, no idea if any of this works. So try at your own risk.

Hello, my P9 is 100% origin.
I managed to use an OTG cable and put the firmware (update.app) on a flash drive under the dload folder. then powered the phone off and pressed both the volume keys + power and the flashing started
you need to download full stock rom the same version as you have before upgrade to N. then try to flash via project menu (*#*#2846579#*#*)
if this method doesn't work you may need to goto recovery menu and wipe data/factory reset. then you might lost all your theme and system apps.
but you will be back to to stable stock rom. if you need to use theme and need the stock system app again to have to Root your device. and install data/hw_init via SRKTool
Hope this help.

First unlock your bootloader - then use Huawei Update extractor to extract ( I suggest the C636B168 Rom) from the Update.App the recovery.img - after flash from an adb folder the recovery.img through fastboot - use the three button to install the Rom and you're ready.
Warning.. everything in your internal storage will be erased so make a backup first.

Flashable L09C432B378

Does anyone know how to flash untouched stock L09C432B378 with TWRP ?
You do need to have an unlocked bootloader, then you can enter fastboot mode and flash TWRP.
You can flash the full OTA again in case something goes wrong and this does also restore the bootloader lock.
Or do you mean to flash the firmware in TWRP?

Here you can find any firmware for the EVA-L09 to download. You need to extract the content to a "dload"-folder on your sdcard and start the install by booting with Vol+ & Vol- pressed.

No this should work in any state your device is in regarding what's installed/flashed except when your battery is low.
But consider that it will also restore recovery/boot partitions and the bootloader in general.

Are you sure you have extracted the contents of the zip to a folder called dload on the root of your sdcard and your battery is not low? You can also check the guides to this method in this forum.
It also depends on what firmware you are using now but if you already are on b378 it should definitely work fine.

Since my phone is unlocked and has TWRP, maybe that the problem.
So I flash oeminfo-huawei-p9-eval09-c432.zip, then the process work but upon reboot a lot of stock app are missing, including camera, folder and backup. And there is no keyboard.
I am not entirely sure but I think these are located on the /vendor partition. But I always thought that they were part of the full OTA. Maybe you can try to find and flash the stock vendor partition?

You'll have to flash update_full_hw_eu.zip as well.
Extract it and put that update.app in the dload folder. Where did you download firmware from?
Seems you must flash hw in twrp. no other way.
EVA-L09C432B378 FullOTA-MF: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G753/g104/v75049/f1/full/update.zip

I don't think Public is needed, it contains no update.app anyway and would need to be flashed in TWRP.

Honor 4x Che2-L11 (EU) - problem with baseband and IMEI.

Hi, I'm new to this forum.
I have a problem with my phone.
After rooting it was good, but later I wanted to upload another ROM and confused the versions to the Snapdragon processor than HiSilicon and now I don't have a baseband and IMEI.
I have tried the original 6.0, 5.1 trough adb-fastboot, because I can't restore trough dload, I had message 'Install software failed' and nothing helps.
Do you have any ideas?

I don't know, but maybe @MarcoPLs or @panchovix has an idea? Sorry to quote you guys, but this is a quite important question: What if someone flashes the wrong rom? Honor 4x can be confusing with snapdragon/kirin versions.

Flashing sd rom is 100% brick.
Try to use rollback package and then reflash lollipop. (you can also try to flash marshmallow with updateappflasher but i think it flash only stuff you need to boot)

Flash system and cust with fastboot and use twrp flasher again.
(rollback is not full update, you have formated system thats why it also failed)

It works!
I extract META-INF in Huawei Multi-Tool and install rollback in TWRP, but I still didn't have baseband and IMEIs.

Extract from update.app and flash, flash, flash *.img.
Only full packages work, so thanks for Your help!

The full ones are marshmallow roms. You could try working with one from MM or one from a ALE-L21 ROM, but I have not tested if it works

I'd suggest HurUpdater: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho...h-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279/page111
OTAs do work with an unlocked bootloader, but not with root or custom kernels.
Does this works with the P10? In the post i ddin´t found the P10.
And if it works, wich zip file i have to choose? And i have root
Thanks
Try my guide (Tutorial #2, Oreo to Oreo)
After that do a factory reset with eRecovery (boot with Vol+ and connected USB).
What also should work is flashing the system.img manually via fastboot.
For this extract the system.img from the correct firmware version with Huawei Update Extractor.
Connect your phone to your PC, boot into fastboot and flash with "fastboot flash system PATH\TO\SYSTEM.IMG".
After that do a factory reset with eRecovery (boot with Vol+ and connected USB).
Note for the next time: backup your system partition via TWRP before flashing the custom rom.
Also note that a factory reset is needed, without your phone won't boot, so backup your personal data before doing it.

Yes, it works on the P10. You can download the files with the firmware finder app. I'd recommend the newest oreo version for your customisation (e.g. B382 for C432).
But Jannomag's solution should work equally well.
Wich Jannomag´s thread?
Do you have the link, please?

Possibly you renamed the wrong customisation file (i did it once for the 09 while I needed the 29).
Which one did you download? And did you flash manually or did you use my script?
Download my oeminfo, it's from VTR-L29C432 Version 8.0.0.380, while the version doesn't really matter.
Flash it via TWRP using "Install" and "Use Image". Flash it to oeminfo partition. Then do my update script again.
I followed the guide to do Oreo to Oreo - basically wanting to get from custom Rom (fRomFuture B370) back to stock, so I chose the same firmware version to extract. Flashed everything with the script and it went fine and it boots and works.. but
The resolution seems to be off, too low and the right side of the screen is unresponsive to touch (about 1cm )
EDIT- Rolled back to fRomFuture B370 for now - need to find a way to get back to stock, as want to move on to Openkirin ROM instead
HI, i have a vtr-l29 root, i want to unroot(version oreo), how do i do it? what do i need to flash?. thank you Alex
