Well, to me OFFICIAL customs (such as LineageOS, ResurrectionRemix, etc) are safer than stock ROMs.

AOSP Roms

Hello! I want to switch from Sony Lollipop 5.1.1 to a stable AOSP based rom. I tried CyanogenMod 12.1 and AOSP Jaguar but I experienced screen freezes and general lag that makes me to go back to stock rom. It is a problem with my device or it is a problem with AOSP roms? What can I do in case that my device has this problem?
hi i tried all cm based roms and oasp roms and i can confirm you that all of them have screen freezes. There aren't any solutions expect to switch to stock based roms.

No problem dude but it's strange because it seemed that some users don't have this issue. The only one i didn't tried is this one http://fxpblog.co/qualcomm-krait-400-family/sony-xperia-z1/ because i don't understand how to flash it. If you want to try. (the aosp one)

I am considering to install a custom ROM on my OP 3T. I do have one question. Cause I like oxygenOS but I just want to try something else, but when installed am I able to revert back?

that was a subjective question and this is an inappropriate response
it depends on what you want out of a ROM and what your stock ROM is like. if a stock ROM doesn't suit your needs, sometimes there is an appropriate ROM for you. i have rooted every samsung device i have ever had and improved my experience greatly.
when you find a good developer, custom ROMs can be better. stock is usually most stable

I wonder what you want out from a rom?we are using/talking about OOS and that's suit my needs(It has all that is missing in stock android).
Sorry but Samsung software is garbage.
Midomad said:
As Android is further refined, there are fewer and fewer reasons to use a custom ROM for most users, custom ROMs will always be relevant to entry-level/midrange smartphone users, or those who still use older devices, that aren't receiving official updates from OEMs anymore.

OOS seems to have everything i want in a ROM too.
that being said, i may find features that i want and don't have. my moto has pretty much everything i could want, but updating to a custom 7.1.1 increased the performance of my device so much that i can't imagine going back.
i haven't used any custom ROMs for OP3T yet, but from what i'm reading we have some really good devs and it is worth a shot. for instance, RR offers customization to such granularity that i will try it because that customization leaves me feeling like i actually own the device (basically the opposite of what apple does with their products)

Which ROM for most settings and customizability?

Which ROM should I install if I want the most amount of settings and ways to customize things?
Some additional thoughts...
Does one even need a custom ROM these days, or can most things be changed using "Xposed installer"?
Are there any drawbacks using a custom ROM?
1. RR is a good choice IMO.
2. More features to play with. Themes. More updates.
3. Xposed doesn't exist on Nougat.
4. Nope except not be able to use full stock features. Stability? It depends on the ROMs and the maturity of the Android version.

Oxygen OS apps (but you can get a port version for Camera and Gallery)
Dark UI (but you can flash a ROM supporting Substratum)
...
I don't remember OOS well and since I have a preference for custom ROMs over stock firmware I can't give you many reasons to stay on OOS. If you want to have the latest Android version, some day you will have flash a custom ROM.

I've spent ten minutes trying to figure out which one is the official (or best) version of Resurrection Remix. Can you point me in the right way?
The one in your signature says it has a pirate-icon if you install pirate stuff. And while I may not do that, I still don't like the idea of that.
So which RR would you recommend?

Both versions have this anti piracy measure I think.
I recommend the unofficial builds since I'm using them ?
It has extra features such as delta updates, signature spoofing support,... and the dev is always available to help and answer our questions.

You could have just flashed the ROM days ago, and have decided yourself; instead of waiting for others to dictate what you will or will not like. And just because someone recommends it, doesn't mean you will even like it.

Agreed.
Agreed nicesoni ash has the best build in my opinion and the dev is great and very supportive of the rom and it's users. And there are lots of unofficial builds for nicesonis rom but you only need to install the latest one.

Sorry, but you'll have to test them by yourself and pick one that works for you... what suits me probably won't suit you. The features that I use the most probably are not as important to you, and probably the things that are important to you I don't use as much in order to say they are stable. The apps I use probably are not the same as you, the signal strength, the carrier, the charger, the bluetooth devices, the root method, magisk modules or even if you are not going to root.
I'm enjoying the PE+ rom, but I did many tweaks to it and it works for me, but there are many people facing really annoying bugs that makes it a no go. So there isn't an easy answer for what you are looking for.

wow what kind of useless responses are those? He didnt say what is the best one, he asked what is the most stable dudes.
Hi! I tried most of them, PE+, HavocOS, AICP, LINEAGE, in my case the most stable and daily driver is Havoc OS, there is one problem on all of them for me, my banking app wont run on modded rom's so i reverted to miui, android one.
There is trial and error, some might work from start, some are harder to make them run ok, without any crashes. The fastest one i found was Pixel Experience+, the most stable one, Lineage OS(be carefull, it doesnt support google apps from the box), and the one which does any task well, good battery and stability in my case, was Havoc OS. With pleasure, ViVa.

Lol, no.
Stock has serious bootloop issues between updates.
If you're staying on stock you should still unlock bootloader, just in case. And backup important data before updates.
This saved me 4 or 5 times already.

Which Android version? I am on 10 and never had a boot loop after update but I always do it manually using fastboot.
I've also stripped Stock down to the bare-bones - no Google anything, except Play Services, Phone and Contacts and everything seems to work OK with no crashes ever.
I concur with your bootloader unlock advice.

Root using Magisk, then use something like link2SD to get rid of the bloat. I always freeze the unwanted Apps instead of deleting them.

Oh really? That easy? hahaha
Installing the stock camera of Xiaomi on a Xiaomi phone with custom rom is much more complicated.
And would it be 100% compatible with the custom ROM?
Finally, what custom ROM do you recommend for the pixel 7?
Thank you !

I understand that, I'm Xiaomi user for along time
Almost Any things in stock android of pixel can be downloaded from play store
I only try crdroid with p7, great rom, alot of custom feature, great battery life. But it still has some small bug that affect daily use experience.
So I fall back to stock and wait for crdroid become official for p7 like p7 pro

My question is because I have just had 4 Xiaomis in a row.
In all of them, the first thing I did was unlock them and install the Xiaomi.eu rom.
With this rom it had much less bloatware, a little more privacy (services blocked in the background), native call recording, and some more features. All this without sacrificing camera stock.
I thought that with the Pixel you could do something similar with a rom like Lineage or another similar one.

is this then the current cam version? because from other phones of course you just and really old gcam version in gplay.
does it have all the new features like cinema mode etc.?
that would be a surprise to me, if it is almost the same feature level like on stock.
