I am running and old rooted G900A still on 4.4.2.
I haven't updated for so long that I am having a hard time deciphering what steps I would take to flash a new rom and if it would be worth it or not.
One thing that is convincing me to make the jump to a higher OS is wifi calling and texting seems to be available, however I hardly see any mention of it anywhere in the forums. Does anybody know what version of Android I'd need for wifi calling and texting and if I have to be unrooted/rooted, stock rom, custom rom?

Thanks. I think for me it might even be worth it to unroot and go back to stock and update to at least the 6.0 version you mentioned, or the latest ATT version available if that's what I need to do to get wifi calling and texting. Now I just need to figure out the best way to do that...
I have the sm-t713 variant. Security update of August 2017.
Does Samsung send out regular updates for these Tabs?
I'm coming from a Nexus 7 with an Oreo ROM and was spoiled with monthly updates. TIA.

I came to this site looking to security updates, too. My Galaxy Tab S2 (wi-fi) , Android version 7.0, shows Android security patch level: April 1, 2017. I have tried "Download updates manually" and it says it is up to date. Is there a way to force a newer security update? Do I have to root and install a custom ROM to get this device secure?
Well, the LineageOS builds are up to date in Security Update matters... ^^

I have the 2016 S2 8.0 but my patch level is August 2017. Since the security patches are now at least 6 months behind, I have a feeling we won't be seeing any more. Is yours the 2015 version? Maybe that's why it's even further behind than mine. I will probably flash LineageOS 15.1 at some point although I don't need its features.
BTW, you don't have to root to flash a custom ROM. Just flash TWRP with Odin and then flash a new ROM and Gapps with TWRP. Rooting is optional on LineageOS.

One more question if I may? After installing LineageOS or other custom ROMS, will they get the regular monthly security patches?

LineageOS generally has weekly updates so every 4 weeks or so, the security patch gets updated (as long as the developer maintains the ROM.) Some of the less popular ROMs may not see updates as regularly.
Right now we are @ 05.01.18 as patch level, next one will follow soon
EDIT: Like... now: @ 05.02.18
So, I registered for Android Pie beta program and upgraded via OTA. But later I rolled back to Oreo 8.1 July via OTA. And now I can't get August OTA update. Everytime I check, it's showing no update available.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? If this problem persists, then I am afraid I won't be able to get any further OTA update including stable Andoid Pie.
Wait for 24h.
I am in the same boat as OP. Contacted Nokia support and they told me to wait for the OTA. They also suggested a method to somehow force the OTA by taking your sim card out, clear the cache of the Carrier Service app, shutting down and power on and search for the update once more (without the sim card), though it did not work for me so far.
EDIT: after waiting for a few hours the OTA appeared automatically, so you better just wait OP.
In the same boat.
I just bought this phone yesterday and so far so good. I've received a bunch of OTA updates but only as far as July. Is there an August one as well? Any way to trigger the update?
I'm using TA1055 and in New Zealand.
Try to clear data on google services framework and carrier services and restart your phone
If not after restart, you should get your update around 24hours after

What is going on with the August and September updates? My last security update was in July and since than nothing...what kind of Android One device is this?!
August patch breaks custom tone folders.
When you get it, you'll have to load notification tones from storage//Music/

I think so too,my last security update was in July,I do not what happening,Nokia-Mokia...Android One,bla-bla...
New update, September security patch and:
-More stable system.
-user interface improvements.
I have to try the phone and see.
EDIT:
It said security patch update but i am still on august security patch so i don't know what it is. 77MB 8.1 (V2.22M)
Never tried the Pie beta but as for updates? Got updated to 8.1 shortly after I bought the phone. Since then nothing. Phone still says it is up to date with the July security patch. Very disappointed with this so called Android One device. This was one of the main reasons I bought this phone.

and you know read? if yes, try again read info on your screenshot, is here (~translated)"Google Security Update 2018-8" and 8 is august right?
anyway "Security Update" not necessarily mean "Google Security Update"... simply you have some as "early semptember OTA update with SecurityUpdate keep from august", is better if Nokia send OTA more that one/month if have fixes for Security, Stability, etc... i think in this month come second OTA with Google Security Update 2018-9..

It is a minor update - a stability update as they call it.
Phone feels much smother after the update.
It is also considered by some as the preparation for the Android Pie stable release - https://www.nokiacamp.com/nokia-7-plus-receives-a-stability-update-probably-a-preparation-for-pie/
Finger's crossed.
I sideloaded the October update on my 1055 here in the UK and am on Vodafone.
Got the December update OTA this morning.
The build number is now OOWW_3_39B_SP01
Now, I see on the OTA thread that the build number is 3.39D.
Is this just a numbering discrpancies or are there different versions of the latest updates banding about in true HMD style?
Sorry for opening another thread on this but it baffles me.
Hi
TA-1055 here. Today I just received 00WW_3_39B which is the full Android Pie update and not 5 mins ago I received the SP01 update of the same build which is the Dec security patch. No mention of any D patch.

Everyday is a learning day
Today I received the december security update and the build number is 3.22G (or 3.22D with SP3) on my TA-1055. Weird.

this is because you before have 3.22C_SP02 (= ~110MB, Only November Security Update - without November System Update)...
who have 3.39C (= ~450MB, November Security Update + November System Update) received december to 3.39C_SP01 (aka 3.39D)
Yes when checking Android version my 7+ TA-1055 (UK) shows 3.39d on pop-up. I got the OTA Pie update 3.39B yesterday morning and 5mins after the install completed the Dec OTA downloaded and installed.

I just received an update. This is Baseband version N960USQS5ETH5. From what I can tell, it is only a security update., as my Security patch level now says September 1, 2020.
To reiterate:
Still on Android 10
Still on One UI 2.1 (From what I can tell, we'll eventually get One UI 2.5)
