Phone bootloop... - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently using D.U 8,1 rc2/03/18. I'm also using chainfire's Live boot app. I ran into a bootloop today and it kept stopping on this line. Can anyone tell me if it's camera related (Camera FX) our some other app. Picture may be upside down.

Help Please!! Incredible S Camera fatal problem!

Hey guys,
Not sure anybody met this problem before.
My camera just happen to restarting when I open it. Last time it works fine and now it's like this. I didn't change anything in the system or install any software. Just restarting. To be specifically, when I entered the camera, camera vision shows, then screen black after 1 second and vision comes back. It repeats again and again. But, if I switch to cam record during the vision appears, the cam recording function works good.
Not only the camera app, but other apps involving a camera function like barcode scanner, google shoppers, the camera restarting again and again.
Anybody knows what's going on?
Doesn't sound like software problem. I suggest take it to the service center for replacement.
My camera has stopped working all together, every time I open the camera or camcorder app, it quickly flashes the icon and then either returns to the home screen or it hangs on a black screen. Although our problems are different, I wonder if other people are having troubles with their cameras. I have done a hard reset and it still doesn't work, so mine also seems to be a hardware issue and I will be returning mine shortly, perhaps you should do the same.
stupid question probably: have you tried a reboot? and i mean a real reboot.
Disable the fastboot or pull the battery, maybe it helps maybe it doesnt.
If thats not going to work i would say: factory reset and if it still doesnt work its time for the service center.
it can also be that there are some faulty images/files on your sd-card so if you have a spare, try that one
I had the same issue with my camera, starting with the logo and then only black screen. Other apps using the camera like Barcode scnanner had the same issue. After contacting HTC they told me to remove the battery for 30s and then reboot. That did the trick for me and the camera went back to normal.
Came across similar problem with a HTC desire, turned out to be the sd card having a fault! Not sure why but when replaced SD card the thing worked great as it should. Just a thought for you but a hard reset and battery out for a minute or two could help.
Ty for the tips guys, will remember them, I learn something new everyday in here haha.

Try resetting the camera to factory default....
wipe it !!!!!!!
I had this problem, but restarting it solves it.
i think i know how 2 fix it...it is a weird roundabout solution
-goto ur gallery
-select the latest photo you have taken from your camera(or basically any photo taken from your mobile will work)
-here`s the tricky part...long press the photo, and select "show on map" from the menu
-let the mobile take its course using the maps installed on ur phone(it should take 2-3 mins max depending on ur speed of course)
-u r DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! the camera should work just fine now
***** what happens is that the photo tries to tag itself from the location involved which sends it 2 a continuous loop hence the camera stops working*****
if any queries,PM me

Works but only 1 time...now the front camera can't function
wipe and install new rom
if software problem
Boot into recovery
wipe cache and Dalvik Cache & reboot
If it is a software problem, ie. if it was working earlier, should revert back to working condition!
Old thread, I know, but might help someone
Cheers!
try removing battery for 30secs, then reboot
Did anyone get a fix for this problem?

Front Camera Problems

I just got my Bionic last night and I was going through the camera functions. I was trying to use the Front Camera but the camera app closed. When I tried to start the app again it gave me a notification stating that the "Camera failed to initilize" and then close again. The only way to get the camera back operational is to reboot the phone.
Has anyone had this problem? I did root the phone and then un-rooted if that makes a difference. What I would like to know if you have rooted your phone does you front camera still operated like it does?
Any information on this would be awesome.
How do you use the front camera anyway?

@exdox77: I'm rooted on my Bionic and I just went through and used the front camera to take self portraits... I've noticed that every Droid has issues with apps from time to time... Usually for me, rebooting fixes the issue... Reguardless of whether I should have to do so to fix it or not, I still love this phone and all of the power it has.
I was just testing out the function of the camera. I went to switch to the front camera within the camera app and just closed and it wont let me back in until and reboot is completed.
I just didnt want to know that it was something I did or not. I even tried to do and factory reset and it did not solve the problem either. Not sure what else there is to do at this point.
@7olycon7: When in camera mode, there's a button that looks like an arrow circling the camera just above the take picture button on the right side of the screen. It takes a moment once you press it, but it switches to the front camera.
that button just closes the camera app. when i launch the app again it tells me "camera unable to initialize"

Open the camera app and right above the shutter icon there is a camera icon with an arrow. Press that and it switches over to the front facing camera.
this is the button that causing the camera to malfunction. I am thinking it is a hardware problem rather than a software problem.
I don't kn ow what to say then. That's the button that switches to my front facing camera on my Bionic. Maybe you should be taking yer bionic back and telling them it has issues, or you need to factory reset it because you did something to it that it didn't like.
I think I will be. Well if you think of anything let me know.
Here ya go... Try going in and clearing the cache in the camera app or clearing out the data. The switching to the ffc was a huge issue on the Thunderbolt too and that was the solution to fixing it.
Here's the link to the thread if you want.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...s/69516-swithcing-ffc-crashes-camera-app.html
I wish it was that. I did this before and after the factory reset and every time i choose ffc button it closes the app. then I am unable to get back into the app until a full reboot is completed. I cant even use the back camera or camcorder right now until i reboot the phone.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I had my Bionic replaced because Verizon could not firgure out why it wasn't working. I tried everything including wiping the device.
The only thing I could think of is that when I rooted it it caused something to happen. Has anyone else had this problem after rooting their device?
having the exact same problem, started after root.. sounds like the most likely cause is root.. damn i was hoping it would be a more simple solution gl to everyone else going thru this

I am rooted and am not having any issues with the ffc. I don't think root would affect this.
I didn't think so either but I am just afriad to re-root just in case it happens again. I can wait for a true root process for the Bionic.
So finally the ffc started working properly in the camera app, but once i tried to gtlk the same ffc problem happens again(was working for a few hours before i tried gtlk).

Camera not responding

Anyone else have issues with the camera not responding after taking a photo on 13mp setting? It's fine on 10mp though.
I am using stock rom with root.

The problem is becoming more frequent. I noticed this:
After the camera stops working and the application asks to be closed, i need to wait just a few minutes for the application restart to work, but only for 1/2 photos. Only restarting the phone is the solution. I can use the camera for dozens of photos with no problem, then suddenly during the day, it only takes just one to block the camera. :crying:
With the first fw release i never had any problem.
This freezing is caused by focus sound, causing mediaserver to be stuck in loop.
It is connected with Bluetooth usage.
For example on my T, I am using BT car radio and when I drive somewhere and want to make some photo after that, even if BT is already disconnected, camera hangs when trying to focus twice and in log, I can see mediaserver running in loop. Camera must be force closed and mediaserver must be killed. Killing mediaserver wouldn't be such pain, using terminal, if it wouldn't have different PID everytime it's killed and if it wouldn't slow down the phone so much.
I hope I wrote it clearly.
You could also (provided you have root access) change you build.prop, changing
ro.camera.sound.forced=1 to 0.
If you change this a new option will be available in your camera app giving you control if shutter sound is on or off

Yes, but do you know what? No sound of focus or shutter is provided by nosound.m4a file. So this is not the solution.
Thank you guys. So how do we solve the problem in the easiest way possible? And why not all xperia t haven't this defect? Why doesn't it show up in the first fw? It 's very boring this defect in a phone where the camera is the first feature. I can not restart the terminal each time after taking a single photo only.
I am trying to find some solution...
i'm sure this is a issue of the new fw. I made many many photos with the last release and never happened. But why? And why only
few peoples are speaking about this?

You don't needa nosound file because it just turns it off. I use it myself and I can tell you this works and my camera never crashed on me.

As i said, problem was solved after changing location of saved pics to ext-sdcard.
absolutelly not. From the first time i started up the phone, the ext-sdcard was the location for my saved pics (i never saved my pics into the internal memory) .I tried to change and to re-set....but nothing is changed. Solution has to be found in an another way.
Here is some workaround for the mediaserver causing camera to freeze problem -
- http://d-h.st/TmT
It's SemcCameraUI with changed shutter tone stream type from "system enforced" to "system" (now shutter tone is turned on/off with global sound settings) and it looks like that the camera is not freezing anymore, but it needs some testing by anyone else with this problem.
Does it need the root to install?
Yes, it does.
Sony has to solve this issue. I think the "minor update" after the .195 was to solve this also. May be?
Could be possible. I am on .197 and I have no problems

Extreme lag when using camera, eventually leading to "could not open camera" error

Extreme lag when using camera, eventually leading to "could not open camera" error
I'm quoting this from Reddit because I am having the exact same problem:
"This randomly started happening about a month back. My front and back facing camera would lag intensely while I try to take a photo. When I move my phone around while using the stock camera app it would show everything in a frame by frame motion. When I go ahead and switch over to video mode the app freezes and then eventually crashes. This problem also happens in my Snapchat app. After either the camera app crashes or the Snapchat app crashes it causes extreme system lag and I can't use my phone for about 20-30 seconds. I have tried factory resetting my phone and it worked like normal for a few days and then the same problems started to occur. I have also tried clearing my cached data. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?"
I'm on Chroma (4/5 build, 'stock' kernel, no xposed) and the person that posted this on reddit is completely stock.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
If it's happening on both a custom ROM and stock ROM, it's a hardware problem. Call Motorola.
The same happens to my nexus 6, under 6.0.1.
I don't think it's hardware: try using it on safe mode (when turning it off, push and hold the power off confirmation on screen). You'll notice that the lag in the camera app is completely gone. Any thoughts?
Safe mode certainly wouldn't hurt here, and it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong, and not the last either.
This only started happening with marshmallow for me. It was really noticeable too on Android N preview but it seems to have gotten better now. Idk, but I hope it will be fully fixed by the time N is officially out
I have this issue also, my camera app is kinda unusable, with all that lag and glitches, but it works awesome in safe mode... Did anyone found fix for this?
DUmb question...how do I get to "safe mode"?
I still have the problem with the latest Android N official ROM after flashing and clean install. Before I had the DP5 but unencrypted & it was a little bit better. Any solution / ideas?
