Hi,
Running EMUI 5.1 on Android 7.0 - is it possible to theme third party app icons? I have downloaded various themes with icons for all the apps I have installed, but only the stock apps change. So apps like Facebook, WhatsApp etc never change. I have rebooted, checked the package name for the icon in the theme file and made sure the structure is correct, but still no change.
EDIT: I can get most themed now, but not WhatsApp. There must be another package name it needs.
EDIT: Sorted it now. Needed to apply another theme first rather than just the icons. Not sure why, but seemed to kick it into life.
Thanks.

hi all i am new and was wondering if i can install the fresh rom and replace the sense launcher with the nexus one launcher and lock screen while keeping the htc widgets
but i have fresh rom and some sort of nexus like launcher and a white notification bar with the htc widgets
thx for help i have one last question wat do i need to edit the sense icons like browser and sms to the stock android icons
Those are not sense icons. You are using an application called LauncherPro. The nexus launcher was removed due to instability and replaced by LauncherPro. Unfortunately the current version does not allow for customization of the bar at the bottom like Helix does, but the dev said that he has a plan to do so and it will be out in the next release, which is expected in a week or 2. There are alternatives to the sense widgets and the performance increase you get from not using sense is so great I will never go back. Check out the pure widgets. If you have the newest version of Fresh that was released this morning, LauncherPro is already linked to the market and you should see any updates, but if you are running any other version, you will need to download the update from the market to establish the link.
no i am not using laucherpro
and wat i meant by edit sms broswer icons i meant from the actual apps not the icons on the bottom bar but the actuak icon of the app
I believe application icons are packaged as part of the APK so you would have to edit those manually. I don't have much experience with that, but you might have issues because I am pretty sure the signing process for an APK includes a hash, so modifying the internals would probably invalidate the signature therefore cause android to puke, but you could give it a try.
Hi guys!
So I got sick of the Handcent SMS icon (that blue thing) since it kinda sticks out from the sleekness of my TouchWiz dock's apps..So I decided to mod the res files and replace the icons with the icon of Samsung's original messaging app. I also changed out one of the notification icons provided by handcent with the notification icon of the default messaging app as well...
I did all of this using APK manager following the instructions of the WidgetLocker mod guide. I zipped and signed the apk with no problems but for some reason it just won't install from the phone or using APK manager.
I did everything exactly the way I did when I modded WidgetLocker..so I have no idea why Handcent is being stubborn at install now...
Any ideas? Anyone ever attempt this?
Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone has been able to do this on the stock HTC Sense app drawer. I've been looking at tutorials and it seems like they are only for the app drawers with 3rd party launchers.
If anyone has had success in changing the icons, let me know.
Thanks
Well you can change the icons for every app, but you need to do it manually.
So grab the apk change the icon and push it back.
This will take i guess quite some time to do it, and all your hard work will be gone if you have an update for that app.
Maybe an other option is to use MetaMorph, prepare there all the icons you need for each app and then run it whenever you had an update.
Maybe there are already a few themes around for MetaMorph. Don't know about that, not interested myself to change all the icons in my app drawer.
Sorry if this is the wrong forum.
I guess Google pushed through an update that broke XGEL's ability to rename and change app icons. I went from having a whole bunch of custom icons from various icon packs, renamed as I wanted, to being right back to stock icons and default names. Going back in and re-selecting my preferred icons does absolutely nothing.
For what it's worth: I'm on a nexus 5X. Stock android, rooted. I did purchase premium.
It looks like whatever Google pushed through today broke XGELS.

You could use an alternative launcher, such as Nova Launcher, which allows to change the app names without the need of an Xposed module.
Used Samsung's Themes to change Theme and Icons on TouchWiz Launcher (TWL). I installed Google Now Launcher (GNL) and noticed that it was used the themed icons, not stock Nougat, which kind of makes sense since I assume it does a full system icon overwrite, not just on the launcher. I found a good stock nougat pack and installed (all in Themes), but it didn't change GNL's icons. This also makes sense, since Themes should only work with TW Launcher. However, then why did the previous theme's icons appear in GNL?
When I change themes, it does not change icons in GNL, only TWL. I tried uninstalled GNL and changing themes/icons, then seeing if GNL would respond but it didn't. Any clue how I could get this to work? I've done a bit of force-closing, rebooting, app data clearing, but to no avail.
Alternatively, can someone recommend a flashable Nougat icon pack that will system-wide change the app icon?
Oh it looks like new apps are installed with the relevant icon. Wonder if I could clear the icon cache or something without dumping my entire cache.
Every Launcher have their own icons pack and these icons just for the default applications come with the rom instead of all the 3rd applications were installed into the rom. Samsung Theme just work with TW Launcher only, and if you have GNL been install on your device then find some Nougat icons pack for GNL on Play Store.
Example: I'm using Elegance UI Icons pack (on Play Store) for my Huawei Y6 with Theme engine and all work just fine here with all default icons look like Nougat icons.

GNL does not support icon theming, so the icons should not have been themed at all, but there were. Samsung does not follow Android standards and practices, there are many inherent issues to TouchWiz. One of them is in Theming. I found my exact issue and its resolution here. I just went into display and changed the rendered resolution then reverted it and my icons were changed. I'm not surprised that Samsung have not fixed it two version later.
