solved: Can't get past Error 7 (T713) - Bootloader? - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

1. I flashed TWRP 3.2.1.0 in download mode via Odin from here: https://dl.twrp.me/gts28vewifi/
2. Tried to flash Lineage 15.1 several times, from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/orig-development/rom-lineageos-15-0-t3666233
3. Formatted all partitions via Format Data and Advanced Wipe in TWRP due to Error 7 messages from #2 (from USB-OTG thumb drive)
4. Then found a different how-to which had a step about unlocking bootloader. I didn't do that :fingers-crossed:
5. In download mode I see Qualcomm Secureboot: Enable (CSB) and Secure Download (enable)
6. Flashed SM-T713_1_20170118200126_cbhdxlhcd3 in Odin.
6. Back to stock rom, good. Unlocked bootloader here.
7. Reflashed TWRP.
8. Formatted Data in TWRP again.
9. Tried to flash Lineage again... Error 7:
This package supports bootloader(s): T713XXu2BQCW, T713XXu2BQD3, T713XXu2BQG2, T713XXu2BQI1; this device has bootloader T713ZSUAQA1.

solution:
Flash latest image from samfirm (via odin)
boot in to that
reflash twrp (odin)
format data in twrp (wipe -> format data)

Can't you just use kingroot?

issues with twrp (apparent file encryption)

Hi, im having a little bit of a problem here, i succesfully managed to unlock the bootloader of my chinese mi8, flashed and booted twrp, the issue is, my files seem to be encrypted, i can't copy anything to the device while on fastboot/recovery mode from the pc, tried booting to miui, allowing the transfer of files and booting to twrp again (for some reason i can't boot to twrp from the device itself, it has to be via fastboot with the command "fastboot boot ***") but all twrp shows me are folders with random characters, it seems to be some sort of auto-encryption, do you know how to solve it?
Miui auto encrypts the device, that is why your device is encrypted. You are unable to boot to twrp for two reasons: 1. Miui auto checks and rewrites over any custom recovery 2. Fastboot boot command does not install twrp, it only boots into it, from which u must install twrp again.
Upon booting into twrp, you need to FORMAT data, flash TWRP, flash this file https://zackptg5.com/android.php#disverfec (DM-verity and anti-encryption) this will prevent anti encryption when your freshly flashed ROM boots up.
Side note: DO NOT RELOCK YOUR BOOT LOADER IF YOUR MI 8 IS CHINA VARIANT AND YOU ARE INSRALLING GLOBAL ROM.
I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU HEAD OVER ONTO THIS THREAD TO UNDERSTAND BETTER! https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/development/rom-mi-8-miui-10-global-beta-8-8-7-t3826560/page7

Their is only one way to recover your phone just follow this step
1. Flash stock firmware(stock rom) vie fastboot using MI Flasher
this is bring back you phone and if you want to install custom rom then follow this
1. boot twrp
2. wipe all the data from slot A and B partition(internal storage as per you choice )
3. boot to slot B and copy past the custom rom file in slot B
4. flash that rom and boot to slot B and then flash Gaaps and other staff you want
5. reboot and enjoy.
NOTE: changing the slot require reboot twrp in simple words every time you change the slot you have to reboot the phone and boot again to twrp..
i hope this will work for you..:good:
If you don't have stock flash file then try from step 2. see whether it will work or not otherwise follow from beginning.
facing the same issue
i tried the same and getting the same error. even the twrp3.2.3.0 never worked while tried to flash that one more than 20 times, after flashing 3.2.3.0 my phone either boots normally or it gets completely power off. and if i try to boot into recovery using volume keys and power key , it boots in stock recovery. please help
Mine its ok now... i donĀ“t know whats happen but suddenly it flash withou any problem.
See if it helps...
Make sure you're running a proper working Recovery
Flashing instructions:
Dirty flash (assuming you have rom on slot A):
1. Download all required files and place them to internal memory (ROM, twrp installer, gapps, magisk, ..)
2. Boot twrp to slot B and flash ROM and twrp installer
3. Reboot twrp to slot A and flash gapps (optional magisk)
4. Now reboot to system
Clean flash (assuming you have rom on slot A):
1. Download all required files and place them to internal memory (ROM, twrp installer, gapps, magisk, ..)
2. Boot twrp to A slot and wipe everything except for internal
3. Reboot twrp to B slot and flash ROM and twrp installer
4. Reboot twrp to slot A and flash gapps (optional magisk)
5. Now reboot to system
If you are coming from stock:
1. Download latest TWRP installer and image
2. Open cmd and type fastboot boot twrp.img (change twrp to its actual name)
3. You should be on slot A in twrp, if not change it and reboot to bootloader and repeat step 2.

I have this issue and none of the steps worked.
I got my device 2 days back and it was in Oreo. I tried to update to pie but the update keep failing. I unlocked the phone and flash latest official fastboot rom using mi_flash and installed magisk using this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/how-to/unlock-bootloader-n-root-magisk-easy-t3856800
Everything went smooth.
Today I tried to go further and instal PE rom using this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/how-to/guide-how-to-flash-custom-roms-stuff-t3876375
Everything goes smooth until I boot to TWRP and try to flash the rom. It gave the error posted by OP. I have tried the following things since:
1. Try another two roms, same issue
2. Flash stock Pie using mi_flash then temp boot to TWRP latest version from 'a' partition, wipe everything, then boot from 'b' partition, wipe everything, try to flash. Same issue.
3. Install TWRP (it installed without any issue), reboot to installed TWRP, flash rom, same issue.
4. Try to flash with 'a' as active. Same issue.
5. All other possible combos (i think) of the above. In all cases everything goes as expected until I try to flash the rom.
Currently I have flashed the factory image back. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Having trouble with TWRP error 1 "Cannot mount /system"

Hello, everyone!
I hope anyone can help me.
Yesterday I assisted with rooting and flashing a Mi 9 T Pro with Xiaomi.eu firmware.
Here are the steps which were done:
1. Unlocking bootloader via MiFlash Tool.
2. Flashing TWRP (this one: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=6006931924117906979)
3. First trouble: It only booted once into TWRP with "fastboot boot recovery xxx.img, after formatting data and a restart of TWRP it refused to get access again, neither with a command nor with hardware keys. It was stuck in fastboot.
4. With the MiFlash Tool I reverted to the stock global (this one: http://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.3.1.0....M_20190805.0000.00_9.0_global_135788d537.tgz)
5. After successfully flashing the stock ROM, I downloaded and flashed this TWRP: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=1899786940962577905
6. Flashing this version of TWRP went perfectly fine.
7. In TWRP I formatted data again. I restarted TWRP and copied the following files to storage:
ROM: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1899786940962578113
Magisk 19.2.zip
Disable_dm verity_ForceEncrypt
8. I wiped Dalvik, cache, system and data.
9. I flashed ROM - it went through without problems
10. I tried to flash the dm verity, then an error occurred (please see the attached picture).
Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Root is mandatory for me, I definitely need it.
I'm looking forward to your input and your help, it's very appreciated!

Thanks for your input. I tried that, unfortunately this didn't work.
But I found the solution a few minutes ago:
I downloaded TWRP 3.3.1-13 (one version newer) and flashed it inside of my old TWRP. I rebooted to recovery again and then flashed Magisk without problems.
(The dm verity still refuses to install but the phone is booting and running.)
Well, it always work for me, or simply reboot recovery also work. Try wzsx twrp, it has remove DM verity & forced encryption remover in advanced menu

Best bet is to restore the phone and start again.
Flash the latest fastboot ROM for the phone, making sure that you change the flash option in the Mi Flash Tool, so you don't lock the bootloader.
Boot into MIUI once to finalise the installation. No need to do the initial setup.
Flash TWRP and boot into it.
Do a factory reset, followed by format data. Format not wipe, need to type yes to continue.
Reboot into TWRP to ensure the formatted data partition is properly mounted.
Flash PE, plus the extras you want.
Reboot to system and you should be good.
This is the best failsafe method when nothing else seems to work.

Proper Upgrade/Flash Firmware

Hello,
I recently wiped my device to start from scratch as in no os. I went into TWRP then wipe and advanced and deleted each option available. Then I downloaded the latest raw firmware I could find which was WW_ZS661KS_18.0410.2108.158_M3.35.19.17-ASUS_1.1.5_Phone-user.raw.zip. After doing a flash_all I obviously wasn't on the latest version of firmware so here is where I get stuck. In order to avoid encrypting the data partition what am I supposed to do to properly upgrade before root? What I ended up doing was;
1. Flash latest RAW firmware
2. Boot into recovery and factory reset
3. Boot into OS, go through basic setup until the home screen
4. Copy latest firmware from ASUS website (WW-18.0410.2203.201) to internal data partition on phone
5. Flash TWRP
6. Boot into TWRP and flash latest firmware
7. Boot to B partition
8. Reboot into recovery and flash firmware again
9. Boot back to A parition
10. Flash twrp on A and B
Is that correct or should I be doing a factory reset / full wipe somewhere in there as well?
Thanks
Why not simply wipe and flash the version of the official firmware you're lookin for with TWRP OR RAW flash flash and upgrade the normal way. And then root. Looks like a lot of unnecessary steps...
