Can someone with a stock rom please send me the following dll file:
phcanOverbmp.dll
It can be found in the windows directory. I overwrote mine (foolishly without making a backup) and dont like the icons in the new one.
I'd really appreciate it if somebody could post the original here.

Doesn't the dll from ROM reappear when you move the custom dll to another directory (or when you delete it)?

Thanks axe77, you were right. I renamed the dll and after a reset the original was back

I have original 2.1 (eclair mod ) installed in my milestone
and i want to customize it ( change status bar, add and remove apps.......)
without installing new custom rom.
so can any help me how to do this ?

i use 7-Zip to open .apk then you can edit/replace file in apk file
to change or edit .9.png file you need other program like 9patch or draw9patch to save in good format.
the main file to edit is framework-res.apk practically all theme is in that file
all system file does not need signing but all other should be sign before you put back in phone and don't forget to zipaling all file that you touch/edit.
many tutorial are available on the net on how to theme android for more in deep detail.

well first do a nandroid backup of your rom then copy to pc, now extract system.img with unyaffs.
then you have all system file of your rom to play with.
after all your change copy file to sdcard/openrecovery/update/test-update-nosign.zip, don't forget to remove babble
i am using OpenRecovery_v1_46

unyaffs is a program to extract files from a yaffs file system image
google it you will find it for sure

look for unyaffs.exe
then in a cmd windows type: unyaffs system.img

but regarding the nandroid backup there are another files like
boot,bpsw,data.img........
are these files important in making custom rom?

hi i new to this forum.sorry if my english is bad
i have some questions.first ill explain what i did and want to doo, and here i need help.
i have an galaxy s gt i9000 and i flashed it to the latest firmware XXJW4.than i rooted it.but now its not rooted.
i downlaode some app system remover, so i disabled/deleted some app taht i dont need or arent needed at'all.
than i googled how to open tar file, used magic iso and opend it.deleted few files from factoryfs.rfs.
now my questios.
1.is it safe to delet these file (dialer, voice search,now buddies, some test files and so on..)
2.can i still flash the firmware without these files and without no bugs to see.
3.im not an expert on this, i need someone to create a tar file using those files that i have on my pc
so i can flash my galaxy.
4.can i replace the kernel to an another one and if so which one can i use.
these files are in my folder now:
-boot.bin
-cache.rfs
-factoryfs.rfs <<< this is the one i oped and deleted files
-modem.bin
-param.lfs
-sbl.bin
-zImage.

Hi.
I am trying to build a custom rom with base as stock rom(XXLT5).
I went through some tutorials on XDA, but they were only some basic stuff.
I had lot of questions in mind,and after searching for hours didn't get some help,so posted so maybe some one can help.
I flashed my own rom with some build.prop tweaks and changed wallpaper in framework-res.apk.
But it flashed with no problems.
1] I had lost root but I used Philz kernel(copied all stuff into respective folder)
2]I don't get about the META-INF Folder because I tried to put some s4 mods such as sec.settings.apk,s4 status bar,they also had META-INF but I didn't know what to do with it. I copied the apk of sec.settings into preload /syslink/system/app.
3]When the rom started default-wallpaper didn't changed and any mods didn't applied,so don't know what to do.
4]Will this work if I unzipped from md5 file(stock rom) and then Linux reader I extracted all files and modify it?
because in tutorials the mention to extract from rom using terminal emulator
Can please any-one say what should I do,and where to put META_INF folder,because all apks aur mods has META_INF folder and will replace every time I put a mod in it.
