I have installed the latest Lineage 7.1 with twrp 3.2.1.0.
I encrypted the tablet for testing. Unfortunately, I can't decode the tablet anymore. Even a factoryreset does not decrypt the partion: /dev/block/dm-0
After the Factoryreset the decryption key is queried again and again...
Anybody got a hint for me?
You should read before flash. You need to FORMAT /data, not wipe by factory reset...

Hey guys,
My work switched to Google Apps for their email so i wanted to test it out on my phone. Doing so required them to encrypt my phone. What this appears to have done is encrypt the data partition. So now when i go into (TWRP) recovery and try to do a backup / wipe / or anything else, it says it is "Unable to mount /sdcard" I'm unable to do a factory reset of any kind so i'm essentially stuck on this rom (ARHD) until i can figure out how to wipe data and get the /sdcard to be not encrypted. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm imagining that with the modified recovery not being able to access the data partition that i'm going to have to do some adb type stuff?
Please help! I want to keep flashing new roms!

That's the thing, the recovery can't mount /sdcard so wiping isn't an option from recovery

Hi! Only TWRP recovery can solve your issue just do this...
Boot to TWRP recovery->Wipe
From there there are 2 options the left is the advance wipe and on the right is Format Data
Just select the format data button and it should reformat the whole data partition.
1st one would prompt so many errors and reformat then reformat it again 1 time and it should fully reformat your phone.
In theory it should reformat data partition even when encrypted but just in case it fails and I won't be able to go back to this thread just boot in bootloader and type
"fastboot erase userdata"
Well none of that works. TWRP doesn't support decryption yet for this device.

What I instructed basically doesn't decrypt the partition. It reformats it.

I know what you instructed, it doesn't work. Only way I got it to work. Flash the stock recovery. Boot into system. Take off the encryption, phone reboots and removes the encryption, data is formatted. Then flash TWRP again.
I basically ran into this exact problem. I was hoping that I'd still be able to back up the encrypted device, but forget about it. What a pain in the ass.
Someone should make add something to the guides about how encrypting your device makes nandroid backups impossible.
Does anyone out there have a copy of the stock VZW HTC One remix recovery?
I've been having issues mounting my /data partition in TWRP and any supersu flash does not seem to stick. I think the issue is related to permissions (been trying to format the partition) due to my encryption of the /data partition. I can't factory reset as TWRP does not correctly run the factory reset script.
I'm hoping the factory recovery will follow the script and remove the encrypted /data partition.

no i use 3.0.2.0
i think 3.0.3.0 is only for updated huwei with nougat and EMUI5?

reset what excatly? factory reset works but Data is in ext4 format. i can wipe it but cant format it.
what if i erase this mmblck0p42 file and then flash twrp in fastboot will the file be reinstalled or will it be after i flash ROM in recovery again?
i made a mistake by formatting it in first place from f2fs to ext4 but before even factory reset didnt work, now it works and only think is left is this encryption error.

Why is your data partition ext4?
Normally it is on each p9 device f2fs.
This can only occur if you were on Nougat between and had installed the TWRP-n which has no Decryption Support and if you had by yourself formated data with this TWRP to ext4.
To install NewWorld Rom you must be on Marshmallow Firmware (because of Android 6 Bootloader) and your data partition must be f2fs.
In the meantime there's a new TWRP for Android 7, which has already Decryption Support.
But you cannot use this TWRP for installing NewWorld. You must have the one, which I have linked in my OP.
On which Firmware or Rom have you been, before you tried to install NewWorld?
If you were on Nougat, NewWorld could not flashed, cause you must be on Marshmallow.

the problem occured when i wanted to get nougat but OTA update failed but it booted back into 6.0 normally just root didnt work so i went in TWRP and flashed supersu 2.79 which i had before, then i was stuck in bootloop, manged to get to fastboot but Hisuite says no update packeg for this phone. i flashed back stock recovery and tryed to factory reset but didnt work, flashed twrp back and factory reset then it said data format error so i went and changed it to ext4 after factory reset worked but i cant put it back to f2fs.
aldo i wiped all cache, dalvik/ARTcache, Data, internal storage and system

Okay, you are now on Stock Marshmallow (which version?) and you maked factory reset after formatting data to ext4
Which phone EVA model to you have?
It is recommended to flash Stock Recovery with adb and flash latest official Marshmallow Full Firmware once again (downloaded and unzipped) with 3 Button (Force Update) from the folder dload on your phone (update.app and if present meta-inf must be in this folder only) Force Upgrade to Marshmallow Firmware should solve your problem (Bootloader get closed, data should be formatted to f2fs automatically)

thanks soo much i did what you said on pm. went to bootloader and flashed your twrp then wiped again arpcache, cache, system, data, reboot to twrp then installed your ROM which still said that mount dev-0 error but i still rebotted and bam it booted longer with this very nice animation you have and showed emui and now im at select language page!
Flashing your twrp in bootloader fix the problem and formatted Data to f2fs thank you again.
also i used command recovery --wipe_data --set_filesystem_encryption=off before all above to make sure ecryption is off not broken.
im now on home screen it looks nice just 3 navigation buttons on bottom look smaller then i had before, thanks again.
I switched over from xiaomi.eu to MI Room. Seemed to work fine until a magisk module uninstall screwed up my ROM and caused a bootloop.
Figured I would do a factory reset, however now Orangefox recovery no longer asks for a decryption password. I know the password, so how do I decrypt my storage?

It doesn't ask for a password because the encryption files were deleted so twrp would not know what the encryption data is. But miui encrypts your data when you set your pin/pattern and the userdata remains encrypted when the encryption keys get deleted. The only way is to format userdata.
I also want to know a workaround for this. If you format userdata and flash recovery version of your rom, will your data get encrypted again when you set a password? Because then, any backup made with your data encrypted is unusable. Is data encrypted only on official roms but not for lineageOS etc?

My encryption files actually weren't deleted. I did a factory reset and reinstalled the previous ROM I was encrypted on a few times and somehow it decided to allow me to decrypt my storage again... So I managed to back things up, then format and wipe all storage and flash the new ROM. Working fine since.

I just did a full flash and erase with sweet_global_images_V13.0.12.0.SKFMIXM_20220801.0000.00_12.0_global ROM.
after a quick rom setup with no sim and no wifi, I went back to TWRP and the data partition can't be mounted.
I tried then the usual advanced wipe, setting the partition to ext2 then to ext4 and the rom does not boot and goes back to recovery.
If from recovery I do a wipe, then the rom starts, but after setup, going back to TWRP gives agaion the same problem and the data partition can't be mounted.
Any Idea?

Have you format data partition before starting the new rom?
Format is neccesary to remove the encryption of the formal rom.
Wipe data isn't enough for that.
yes I did... but I think MIUI reformats it.
which twrp are you using?
Maybe the twrp you're using doesn't support encryption yet
it worked with MIUI 12.5.9.. but MIUI 13.0.12 reformats the userdata partition if it is formatted with twrp.
maybe because of dm-verity but I am not sure.
I just did this:
FULL FLASH from EDL or FASTBOOT without relock and including userdata.
Then fastboot boot twrp-3.6.2_11-0-sweet.img
Form TWRP I reformatted userdata as EXT4.
Then booted the system... after booting for the first time the system, userdasta is again encrypted.
Yes, seems u are using twrp which not support decryption yet, change ur twrp/ofox then (there is 1 that already support android 13)
