Probably just modem and bootloader as usual.

Probably the BlueBorne fix. It took really long to get it released...

i'm still rocking 5.1.1 stock/no root. i don't know if i can trust that these updates to our Note 4 are actually improving it. I feel like it's deoptimization. And worse of all, it's not guaranteed you can downgrade successfully
I still love my Note Four and just had it refurbished!
Prefer my old note 3 to the 4.
they took out to many voice commands etc
cannot control the music player with voice
4 has better hardware for sure but they just took away to many good things
update was modem/bootloader afaics.
security patch is aug2017 so that hasn't been updated
but it seems at least my phone does not have the blueborne vulnerability after checking with the Armis app.
Definitely loved, one more time, in OTA form (217Mb worth of it)
I am still rocking the N910C as my daily driver. I love the fact that I could swap out the battery in seconds and not have to lug around a heavy powerbank to keep it charged.

Don't update if you use an extended battery. Mine won't recognise the battery as extended after the update, even after six complete charge cycles draining to empty and charging to full.

I have N910C since early 2015,
I bought LG G4 after the Note .. after 2 months I sold it, you can't compare any screen with the Note 4 gorgeous screen.
Tried my luck with iPhone 6s Plus, sold it .. reason ? cuz it's piece of sh*t.
Another try with S7 edge, I did not like the curved screen also I missed the S Pen and the replaceable battery [ I have 5 batteries one of them 10,000 mAh].
In my opinion, the note 4 is the most completed phone made ever even it's 4 years old.
I'm using SimpleRom which is the lightest rom made for N910C, day to day usage you will not notice any speed different between the note 4 and newer flagship.
Same here.
I just got an update after a long time, but with no security updates. Weirdly, I've seen same variants as the German has a October update, whereas I keep having the August update.
https://samsung-firmware.org/model/SM-N910F/region/DBT/
And despite having almost 3 months the update, I got it yesterday.
Any further information about this upgrade?

not good, like average 3- 3.5 hours? I'm on 6.0.1 now because my phone updated by itself after all this time. At first, it gave me a big battery boost, but now it feels lightly better than when i was on 5.1.1. But, some apps on 6.0.1 do feel a bit slower i find. i could always downgrade back, as i'm not on the latest 6.0.1

The DROID 4 is upon us whether we are ready for it or not. The first pictures of it popped up a few weeks ago followed by signs pointing to it arriving on December 8. We also got confirmation that training has started for some Verizon shops, along with this set of official specs. Who knew we would see it so soon?
The D4 will have a 4″ screen (LCD or AMOLED?), 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, DROID RAZR styling, 5-row slideout keyboard, 4G LTE, front camera for video chatting and an 8MP rear camera. This could be the DROID that many of you have been waiting for. The Stratosphere had LTE and a keyboard, but this phone has top of the line specs to go with them.
On a related note, thoughts on the tool needed to remove the back cover? It doesn’t have a removable battery, but the cover can be removed using that circular tool pictured above, so that you can insert a SIM and SD card.
Source: http://www.droid-life.com/2011/11/2...nitely-a-big-razr-with-a-keyboard-and-4g-lte/
This is what the droid 3 should have been in the first place...Instead of opting for one standout phone though, Motorola decided to make 2 behind the curve phones in the time span of two months. They should give Droid 3 owners some kind of upgrade deal or something, that's just crazy.
edit: Did they get rid of the lip? If so, now I'm really upset, I always hated that lip at the bottom.
I strongly agree with you. The Droid 4 seems like the phone I've been waiting for the whole time. I'm quite sure Moto released the D3 with less superior hardware solely as a marketing strategy.
Too bad the battery's no longer swappable (with the exception of removing some additional covers)
I just got the droid 3 after tons of problems with the D2G. I must say, for not having paid for the phone, I'd be willing to pay for this D4. BUT, not being able to install an extended battery is a major dis. Sure the 1785mAh that this has is bigger then the 1500 the we have...but its still smaller than the 1950 the extended has. Who care how fast your phone is if its dead...

Don't buy it. Realy the droid 4 six months after the droid 3. Then there will be thr droid 5 six month after that. That's why as soon as I can I'm never going to own a carrier phone again. Its all nexus for me. Motorola has disapointed me very much . People sign the patition pn the thread abouve this one.

Screen TFT? That would mean its not AMOLED like the RAZR. If so, I hope it is not pentile! Lets hope the screen is IPS/SLCD with classic RGB stripe matrix.

Hello dear XDA friends, Although I don't post a lot I still love you all .
Anyway, I am really tempted to get a Mate S ($/€319) after my LG G3's screen basically broke in half, the battery exploded and the touchscreen only working 10%, it's basically useless right now and I need a phone to replace it for a while until I decide what's going to be my ''real'' phone (I hate Apple but the 7+ Camera is amazing but then again maybe note 7 refurbs will be cheap.) So yeah I need to bridge the gap and I want to gift it to a relative when I'm done with it.
So is it worth it for 300 bucks?
Hi,
I have the phone since 3 months now (rooted and latest rom version) and it is in overall very good but the battery. Screen is very great but although there are a good device manager, it doesn't stand a full day without reloading.
Also you can see from the different posts that this phone is not very popular among Android's cooks. So not a lot of answers and not a lot of tricks and tweaks. I regret the time I had a Nexus 4 where community was very active. Anyway, as I am really focused on battery life, this is the real flaw of this phone for me. But I guess there are not many phones that could do better.

What's the longest screen on time you got?
It actually depends what you gonna do with this phone.
I own it for last 8 months never really felt need for better battery during normal usage.
My typical usage with all the time brightness at auto and slider at max ( which on huawei even when inside usually means 80-90% brightness ) and outside always even when is dim day is 100% or boosted screen mode ends up with average 4:30-5h SOT with around 18-20hrs on battery. This is with about 60% wifi 40% 3g.
This includes bunch of social apps, youtube , music, calls, sms, light gaming of around 1hr per day.
The great thing about this phone is its soc and screen, the to S-amoled it never gets hot thus for it doesn't drain battery life fast like snapdragon devices.
Biggest fall of this soc is its GPU it isn't as good for heavy games like s810 devices for example.
If you're not a gamer I highly suggest this phone. If you have more money I suggest p9+, its a beast in all regards.
Here my current battery life stats

As you can see, I charged my phone and unplugged at 00.14. Wi-Fi off and no mobile data, no screen on. No apps running apart from home launcher and myProfile. All others are greenified. So in around 8h sleep it decreased by 20%.
I tried many tricks and I consider myself skilful for this (my LG G2 could last 3 days) but cannot do better with this one. The ROM is not good enough yet and update frequency is not good.
Got the LG G4 so this one can be closed

October? Im on June and it tells me that there are no newer versions. How did you Upgrade?
Same with me, June and said it's the latest. XT1602.
Running CM13 and Squid's kernel. Screen-on seems to drain this thing pretty fast even when WiFi is off, screen off it seems like it can last forever. I don't know the exact model number, but I have the single SIM 16/2 model, non carrier specific purchased straight from Motorola.
I don't know how this compares to stock Android or stock kernel, as I unlocked this thing's bootloader and flashed everything I have now without even getting the chance to experience what stock firmware was like.

I have the xt1601 and i'm in retail mx It is possibly that
I just reverted to the "stock" kernel CM comes with and I don't see much improvement compared to what I was getting in the previous post with Squid's custom kernel. It could just be a defective device I have (this, plus the screen brightness seems to "transition" from one brightness setting to another VERY slowly), but with CM installed, it's a bit late for me to do anything about it...
I am very impressed with the battery life. I have the phone a little over a week now, and have yet to kill it by bed time.

Whatever the stock settings were, don't remember changing anything around.
I am Using the latest official build of RR with squid's kernel. Its working really great for me but the battery really drains very quickly compared to stock. Can anyone suggest kernel tweaks or system settings to improve the battery life?
Pretty good
So far, the battery life is pretty good. Lasts long enough. I'm using Resurrection Remix 5.8.0 and Squid kernel.
Dears, I have a note8 sm 950F and have android 8, but have a problem, it drains battery so much fast, battery maintance say that process system_server is the process that consume 15% of cpu always, if I close the process the phone restart and in a few minutes back to appear again, so the solution I find is flash with other stock rom and I read that this dont happen in android 7, it is possible downgrade to android 7? its is dangerous?
I will appreciate your help, thanks in advance

Wait so I just got my Note 8 from swappa. It was already Android 8. Is it the process system_server that is using most battery or is it using processing? And how do I view this cpu/battery information? Can you post screens?
My phone technically has been used for 5 months by the original seller but I find the battery life dissappointing. I get 4.5 hrs of screentime with standard to below avg use with the medium resolution setting
my case its very similar to you, I bought the note 8 with 4 months of use and I think battery is drain so much fast, in 5 minutes it down a 4% or more, display time should be about 4 hrs or less, the process system server consume cpu, but the alert notification appear like consume so much battery, here is the image:

Long story short, flashed a few different Oreo filmwares, my BTU variant being the last it seems to get the update! I was noticing battery drain more while it was not in use than when I was using it!! Finally BTU update on sammobile, flashed and not had the battery drain since.
Maybe try a different filmware, if you have that option?
I downgraded back to 7.1 fine btw.

Ah so it is supposed to be 4 hrs of SoT standard? I guess people getting 6 hrs have a bunch of synch and location stuff off. Yeah mine is 4 to 4.5 hrs on default settings and normal use.
And you got the OTA update or did you flash manually? if you did then I'd suggest OTA or different firmware and of course the factory reset

What made you go from 8.0 to 7.1? And Does this downgrade work for US versions? I think we have snapdragon
i did once downgraded from oreo to nougat (7.1.1) via odin. i downloaded the firmware from sammobile site. it succeeded without any errors. and for extending your battery performance, have you tried put all tha apps to sleep using battery set up inside the device maintenance setting?
You can post what you feel about the update here .
For me
1) qr code in camera app is way faster
2) camera doesnt heat up the phone now
3) gaming also runs cooler
4) animations are better
5) expect an sot of 1h more than you got with april update.
Looking for more changes ..
Tell me in comment .
I think samsung is doing a great job ,
I was about to trade off my s21 ultra with mi 11 ultra , but this update has stopped me doing so.
I can't wait until my phone recieve the update.
This is so promising that samsung still fixing and adding new features every month.
I would say a 10% better everything even though it might be a placebo. All running smooth. Used the camera a lot today for pics and videos. Youtube, browsing and etc, and now 3:33 SOT and battery at 46%. I guess that may be a tad better than before. Camera seems better too somehow.

I think they are moving towards apple kind of ecosystem and software.
And if they can do that , i am not leaving samsung for as long as they maintain that .
They still need to work on animations , accidental touches, and 60-120 hz management in some apps

First full day with May's update. I did a clean install via Odin since it was the second update in a row of over 1GB.
Everything is running smoothly. Battery I think is maybe 5-10% better but have to give it a few days. Can't comment on the camera yet. Usage is on WiFi, 120Hz, FHD+.

Try Frija, its very fast to download it.
wise advice. I only use one time to install PHE before change CSC, then always wait for OTA
OKay, will wait it out then. Last month I received the update on April 9th; so this time I presume it will be similarly timed.
I'm able to achieve 10hours Sot (48 hours cycle) on this release, prior to that the sot was in the 8/9 hours. I mostly use browser, youtube, youtube music and ocasional gaming (Wild Rift)
On Vodafone model in UK so I expect it will be a couple of weeks before I get this but it sounds like it makes what is already one of the best phones money can buy even better.
Great to see Samsung get the Exynos up to near Snapdragon levels of quality at last.
Unlocked exynos UK here, no sign of the update yet. I've read it improves the shutter response, which would be great!
