Hello All,
I have bought last days a galaxy note 8 snapdragon version, but i have seen a bug (maybe is not a bug) that when using AOD enabled with infinity effect enabled (blue theme) screen on aod stays blue with stars on top and after one minute it goes completely black and shows stars and clock only, that i love it... but when phone is charging and aod enabled, the infiniy effect on aod stays always blue on top of the screen and not black with stars only. Well im wondering if is there a possibility of screen burn from static blue color for all over the night if phone stays all night in charge?
Please Note 8 USERS check and reply if you have the same problem.
Dont ask me to turn off infinity wallpaper or aod bcs i like it and i want to use it, also i am all day out so i must charge the phone over night.
Pic attached.

If you do this regularly, yes it will burn the screen. Your top part the screen will be slightly greener (yellow-red) by burning the blue rapidly.
I do not think it will damage the screen, to the naked eye it looks static, but AOD does shift pixels, to avoid this
@xda_rosh is there any way to fix it?
@winol but why it is black in normal use and blue when charging?
Anyone with Note 8 if have the same problem?
Having the AOD numbers ON is not a problem as they move around a bit. But blue gradient definitely will ruin you display. I can guarantee that. My first Note 8 came one side little brighter (blue-white). I purposely made a blue gradient and left the screen on at high brightness a couple of night. It made the screen bit even by burning that side a bit.
The strange thing is that even the samsung agents that i spoke knew nothing about this.
Is very anoying that we cant use AOD because colored theme applied to AOD will burn the screen

The green flicker is from using Voodoo Control, but it's also caused by the "Auto Brightness" feature of the phone. In order to get rid of the green tint while turning on or off the phone disable Auto Brightness. Set your screen brightness manually right in the middle of the scale. I use the "Okay and Cancel" as a guide. Doing this I have used the "best ics voodoo settings" and have eliminated the green tint while the phone wakes or sleeps. I also went under development options in ICS settings & set all animations to .5
Hope this helps..
Lol the flicker is from the screen off animation. Once window animations is set below 1 u will no longer have it... I just turn all animations off... cheers

Edit: I feel like as soon as I say this, its happening again.. maybe I'm wrong about what I said but I'm not on auto brightness or using voodoo... ugh

I'm using the settings provided in my "best ICS voodoo settings" thread and set my screen brightness as shown in pic. No green flash.

That is plenty bright for me. I'm sure others prefer their screen brighter.

I have my NS I9020T's auto-brightness turned off and have it set to 50% and never get any green screen.
P.S. I also have window animation and transition animation both set at 0.5.
One of first to preorder first patch, and got my nexus 8g since last Monday. Never had and problems with it until an hour ago. Screen suddenly have dual layer overlay my entire screen. Anyone had this problem? Already try the safe mode, the problem still exist. See below screen shot. I would really hate to going through RMA with Google, hear it was pain in the ass

Here is a better shot with more black screen showing, but where did the black goes?

Okay, viewing my own attachment picture from my computer right now and it looks nothing wrong :crying:. So this is screen problem, not the display, so screen capture is useless...
Try taking a picture of the screen with a camera.
Are you meaning like an image retention issue (where previous screens are still "showing through" what's currently being displayed?
(For example, you'd see a faint image of your homescreen when in the Settings panel)
Sorry for the late reply, been too worried about not able to get my RMA...

I did try to take some pictures with my phone camera, but the screen had too much reflection that it's hard to tell from the pictures.
However, I did found Androidpolice had a good report on it with same issue and they were having hard time taking the pictures too

Yes, I believe is the retention issue and worse. My screen got worse each day before RMA came. Screen is pretty much in a VERY BRIGHT LIGHT ( I wouldn't even call it color white because it's really just shinny light) stage before I even unlock the screen. All the light seems to begin to go away after about 10-15 mins of screen use time, then the display will only showing some few "ghost" problem between screen to screen. Maybe this something to do with IPS been too cold? Need a warm start like my old car? lol..j/k
I did made a video of it on that first night it happen, hopefully it will provide some kind of idea how it looks like.

So I called Google on 7/29 for RMA, and got my replacement on 8/2. So far crossing my finger on the second Nexus 7 from Google.....Thanks.
If you having the same problem that i had, wasnt able to use 1 cm of the top side of screen on xperia sp you can fix thise with some touches on the screen.
The problem shows up when you let the phone automaticly adjust brightnes of the screen, because after some time it wants to change the brightnes thise depends on the natural light, but it cant change brightnes because of some software isues (you can se litle bridgnes changes on screen or blinking). I noticed thise when i startet a app called sony diagnostic when i was testing the screen. The screen was trying to change brightnes so you could see a white screen chaning litle bit the white color and blinking black for few 1 miliseconds.
So to fix this problem just press the icon that is showed on the attached picture and the icon should color blue, this worked for me.

It is normal when wake up.
nobody ? ??
increase your brightness ?
it is not solve problem when i increase brightness.
it has red colour background, i can set many colours but can not set white colour. Maybe the back-lit change from white to red.
Are you using a custom face? if so, change to one of the built-in watch faces from LG, or just try a few different watch faces in general and see what happens.
I'm not sure (because I don't know what watchface you're using) but it definitely looks like your screen is defective.
Now, the screen is death
I have nearly the same problem. It's been this way for about three months. I did a factory reset three times. The screen looks fine in normal mode, but when it dims, it flashes the dimmed color for half a second, then dims dark to red. Mine appears darker. I can't see it in the daylight at all.
mine just started the same thing :/ do i need a new smartwatch ALREADY?
kay so its gotten much worse, it seems to be caused by not enough power tothe screen, it seems to get worse when it attempts white
Hi,
Can we have more informations please ??
like : did you used Stock Watchfaces, if not which one before the problem etc...
just got it back from LG, the note says:
replacement case
replacement ic/pa/filter
does anyone know what that means?
How do we get service on this watch? I can't take it back to the original store because it was in another state and I'm tired of living with it this way. Thanks
call LG in your state and winge.. it worked for me
btw my watch JUST started bugging out again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AeJ6c65lOo
Hi
I noticed that my Pixel 5, barely changes the brightness in low to medium light. (unlike my previous Pixel 4).
It changes the brightness when the light changes are big. Like jumping from a dark room, to a bright room.
But doesn't change the brightness when changes are small. Like, a dim room in the morning vs a dim room in the night. (scenarios like from 1% to 35%~ ).
So today I compared both light sensors and the Pixel 5 has different values. Then I opened "DevCheck", went to Sensors, then LIGHT and I started rotating both phones together and the Pixel 4 changes constantly but the Pixel 5 it just jumps abruptly (see below screenshots).
Is anybody having similar behavior with Adaptive Brightness?
Is your sensor behaving also like mine?

Pixel 5:
Edit: I also noticed that the Pixel 4 in a dark room reaches 0.0X (and different values between 0.0X and 1.0X) while the Pixel 5 in the same dark room reaches 1.0X.
I hope this is not a faulty sensor in my device. (So I don't have to go through RMA).
Thanks!
Mine also does this, although I havn't noticed too much of a change only coming from a Pixel 2XL.
Is it a limitation due to where the light sensor is placed?I'm assuming it's under the display (near the proximity sensor).
I believe this is just another contra of having the stuff under the display.
However, maybe Google just needs to improve the drivers to make it work better in dark rooms.
Personally my issue is that when I need 1% brightness, phone is still like at 20%-30% brightness and vice versa.
I don't think mine responds at all. Coming from a pixel 2xl which seemed loads better. Also my auto rotate has stopped working. Google are sending out a replacement, not good for a 2 week old phone. I'll see how the new one lasts but I'm already thinking about getting a refund and trying something else
