If anyone good at making modules looks at it, please find a proper way of doing it. Right now I only symlink files to /product and /odm. The symlinks in /odm stays after uninstall. Best would be to actually auto mount (like /system and /vendor is) it but I think magisk needs to be edited for that (?)
Also, check if you have /odm available in your TWRP version, else install this one:

To "enrol" (lol) face after installing, go to Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Face unlock
Face unlock is actually available already in Mate 9 from the start, it just needs to be enabled.
And a few files are missing which I took from Honor V10 firmware.
If you want to revert, just check the zip for what files to remove and remove
ro.config.face_detect=1
ro.config.face_recognition=true
from /product/etc/prop/local.prop
Thanks to @LastStandingDroid for testing and pointing out where prop was located.
Update 2: as a "side-effect", face recognition enables the Smart Rotate option in Settings -> Display (at the bottom). Thanks to @LastStandingDroid for pointing this out
Update: I've tested it on C432B363 now, and it doesn't work.
It's supposed to say "Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Face unlock" . But in this firmware it says "Face recognition".
I'm not sure what changed, maybe Settings.apk.
It definetly works on B365 but safetynet is not passing on this one yet.

If you can't backup files in odm in in twrp that means you didn't succeed. It looks like you don't as the setting is enabled.
Please use the one in op instead
Odm partition handles some camera and audio files. Much more isn't in there

When you're in Face unlock in settings, do you see "Direct unlock" option?
And if you don't, do you use Firedance data mod?
Updated OP with magisk module.
I will test B363 with Firedance mod today, another user reported it as not working and it may have to do with mod...
He could only see one option in Face unlock, "Direct unlock" and "swipe to unlock" was missing. But those strings are in Settings.apk in B363 s they're not missing.

Remove fingerprint unlock I don't think you can use both.
Also if you have locked screen press power and just look at your screen it shall unlock fast

I tested yesterday, you can have both FP and face.
Atleast I could. I added FP after face though.

Direct unlock in not there....!!! I am on L29C185B371......!!!! I dont use Firedance mod neither.....

I tried removing FP too....!!! same issue....!!! I cannot use Face unlock.....if there is a way I can make some logs.....u can tell me so I do it.....

I was reefering to face data. Let's try
Remove all current password/fingerprint
Remove faceunlock
Enroll face again and setup a pattern or pin/password.
If it doesn't work there might be a data bug.
Side note: for thus who has issues installing this mod use magisk and the magisk module. It's easy as 123 also won't need u to have a twrp with odm support

I see settings are there.... Face unlock option.... Adding face data also works...! Trying to unlock with face.... Phone not unlocked....!

after you register your own fingerprint, you should turn on and off the option "use fingerprint to unlock" in order to use fingerprint to unlock.

The miui port is based on the original rom as far as I know.

o alright. Can you tell me where you saw that a version with 7.1 will be out soon? I don't see it on lenovomobile website (using google translate).
so much bloatware and not all languages are available.
So I installed this after flashing 2.3 and it's stuck at 3 dots icon on booting. Could this be because I also flashed Gapps and superu before booting into the rom and setting up?
I got it to boot, but every time I flash gapps it prevents miui from loading (using open gapps). Trying to find a workaround. I'll try the MIUI gapps from their forum.
I installed the Playstore APK and services and I can't even get it to run. Also there are a lot of chinese messages and bloat on this rom. Pretty disappointing.
Edit: I got google play services finally working. Had to use a different flash file.
Edit: Google hotword isn't working although it gave me the option to train my voice and enable it. After restart it's grayed out. Sigh.

The ROM have 32 Languages to pick but this ROM have a bug on it. For example I'm from Portugal and when I choose PT-PT I get a black screen on the first screen... But if I choose PT-BR the ROM works fine...

But be careful what you do with root, because you can brick your device. Just disable all the chinese stuff and install play store and a keyboard(download the apk on PC and put it on the device). And you're good to go.

Can you tell us what's different with this rom than stock? Can you configure the navigation keys for things like hold back to close or hold the home key to open the recents tab?

Difference: ksettings(if you don't know them, just Google), rooted with supersu and the Chinese apps. Yes you can configure everything like on stock. Kangv comes from China, that's the reason for the other apps. I'm from Germany and I can use the Rom without any problems. I wanted it because of the ksettings, you can change so much stuff with it.

Other threads in this forum report that rooting kills the Mate 10's artificial intelligence (i.e., Bokeh effect no longer works, nor does scene recognition). Have you found that to be the case with this ROM? Thx.

As I know, it doesn't matter which rom you use. When you root a mate 10 you loose ai. I think it will take some time to fix this. Sorry, wish I could give you better news.

No, you don't loose data, it just overwrites your system. But always make a backup before flashing anything.
So which one should I flash? I'm on 10pro 127 c432 currently.
BTW is there a way to flash back to stock?

You must patch sepolicy. The offical sepolicy is in /vendor/etc/selinux/precompiled sepolicy. That's is the difference.

Funky huawei is just rooting stock rom. This is a custom rom with patched sepolicy. Because of that the ai is still working.

This means you don't have odm in your twrp partition. However ante will release a magisk version which will be easier

It is as fast i believe just press power and make sure your face is where it's possible for camera to find you. Also the angles are pretty huge. Which is unbelievable that it is proper. At least my mate can't unlock it [emoji38]

Updated OP with magisk module.
Flashed Magisk module. No errors. But doesn't show up in Security settings. I am on Nougat C675 B150

Yes. I used the latest TWRP
The latest from P10plus forum doesn't work because it doesn't support odm partition.
Today I will add new twrp version there.

because I flashed the latest twrp (V2.1) you provided for us , and it's hanging in face ID enrollment , Im runing on C185B321 .
I even tried magisk module and it didnt work too !!

It's not related to build number. Normally we don't need the odm partition so nobody add this partition to his twrp.

so what could be the cause of different results with the same phone and files ?!
Tried on Mate 10 Pro, not working.
I still haven't got the new version of AA.
Oddly enough, after I reinstalled the app, now I have no way of starting AA on the phone (the icon in the drawer is gone and the app info doesn't have the option to stop it).
I know this is expected, but the thing is now I can't access this supposed option to "Try the new Android Auto".
Any ideas on alternate ways to enable it?
Some adb command maybe?

Have you tried to go to Applications menu, select Android Auto and check settings from there?
I also still waiting for the new UI
1. install android auto 4.5 version
2. root phone
3. run this command: sqlite3 /data/data/com.google.android.gms/databases/phenotype.db
4. run this sql: update flags set boolval=1 where name='Boardwalk__enabled';
5. reboot phone
if not work, connect to car first and finish setup, try again

run AA -> settings -> toggle try new ui -> exit AA -> connect usb to HU and viola
If you don't see try new UI in AA settings than your sql commands isn't right, try again...
YOU NEED ROOT !!!!!

I am rooted, I used the terminal on Tool all in one to execute the commands you gave and they work without error but then after rebooting and following your steps it doesn't show the new ui on my AVH 4200 NEX pioneer AA head unit
This also did not work for me. I extracted the phenotype.db file and found all these entries:

I enabled them all, restarted, and still didn't see the option to enable the new UI.
Wtf guys .... it doesn't auto change... after reboot run AutoAndroid on your phone ... go to settings and you gonna find new setting -> toggle try new UI and exit...now you can connect your phone to your radio !!!

i installed the newest AA apk (4.5.592854-release arm64-v8a, July 30) on my MTCE PX5 android headunit and it still looks like the old one. "menu" bar on the right, with music/phone/navigation and round exit button. Can the new UI be enabled on non-phone units?

You didn't do it the right way... try read post 3 again and do it again.... if you will do it right you gonna see try nee Android auto in settings.

No only for phones connected to headunits (with support auto android)...for android based units you have apk that simulate auto android

Ok, why are you yelling? I have seen people getting it working without root. I have followed the instruction like clearing data and force stop, yet the option to try new Android Auto doesnt appear in my setting. I dont know why u laugh and what i am ignoring.
I dont want to root, because it will break my Samsung Pay and Samsung Health.

Pretty sure he means if you want to force it now before Google is ready for it to roll out to everyone, you have to be rooted so you can modify system files. I read that Google is rolling it out in waves. 1st to factory built in models then eventually for aftermarket radios running off the phone. drnightshadow provided the sql commands to force the option in settings on the android auto app to appear but you'd currently have to be rooted to do that. Otherwise it's a wait for Google game I believe.
