This keyboard is driving me crazy. It activates from the right edge... But I can't figure out how to disable it...
I'd say, you've installed another launcher.
What keyboard is that, anyway? Stock? I'd recommend using SwiftyKey.

does anyone have a swype keyboard that works with cyanogenmod 7? i installed the swype keyboard but it doesnt show up in the input methods
You probably installed the installer. Open the installer and install swype itself.
If you are talking about Swipe pad, it's a mini-launcher, not a keyboard.

You have to enable swype in the settings. Go to settings-->Language and Keyboard and enable swype.
Have been using it for about a week and really like it.

Anyone know if you can make the middle (2nd) homepage with the apps on etc. a bit smaller than the default big ones on a 4x4 display.. My previous phone;s Galaxy S2 and Nexus all had a 5x4 display for the app icons and i really don't like the massive gaps between all the app icons.
Can't see anything in the options to do this...
Is it possible?
Thanks
no replies????
You will need to use a 3rd party launcher like Apex or Nova for that. Not possible on the stock launcher.
4x5 is option in Stock...
Not enough for Stock?.....

I use Nova and my phone is rooted and I use banking apps with no problem. What banking apps are giving you issues? See attached. for a screenshot on Nova.

I use UK Banks. LloydsTSB and Barclays banking apps and Barclays PingIT. I have only had my HTC for 4 days... dont know anything about rooting it yet.. Had a Gnex before and when i rooted that, none of the banking apps would work as they could see it had been rooted and considered it a security problem
Have Nova now and it is good, just a shame i lose the direct screen rotate widget/icon that the HTC One comes with but Nova does not recognise.. found that pretty useful and i find screen rotation very annoying when i dont want it to rotate but it does and it is at a slight angle!!
I guess UK Banks are more secure good thing. I use multiple banking apps to pay bills transfer funds, etc. never had any security issues. As for rooting, its a whole new world for your phone. Most important thing is to read, read. And read the developers instructions before attempting to root. You could brick your phone if your not careful. Glad you found Nova useful. Good luck if you decide to root your ONE. Remember read!!!!

If it works for you that's cool.
There used to be downsides to using 3rd party launchers. I ran stock launchers predominantly on my phones till about 4.2 (was on N4 at the time). Nowadays, I feel as though if you can have endless customizability with zero performance or battery hit, with flawless stability why not?
folks
the stock keyboard seems to be good for me. It has gesture typing (which is like swype I'm used to) and also has voice typing. I'm copying over my swype dictionary from S4 onto this keyboard. However, in swype, you could click a certain word and add to dictionary right there and don't think the AOSP keybaord has that feature
Are there other keyboards that have the above two functions but are even better that are worth trying?
Thx

swiftkey
As always in android, there is no such thing as "best." I personally prefer SwiftKey.

It may be better to ask "What's your favourite keyboard".
Mine is Kii
How is swype? used to be the king of keyboards but seems to have fallen out of favor

MIUI doesn't have the app drawer does it?
Presumably, once you get Play installed on the device...can you install Google Now and Launcher? Does that then provide app drawer??

DAMN I want this phone now!!!! (and the hunt is on!)
Excuse my ignorance on what Google Launcher provides, but if you do use it, does it provide a largely stock experience instead of MIUI?

i was using emui (which is quite similar to miui) with apex launcher. it delivers a bit stock feeling for homescreen and app drawer, but not for settings or notification bar. but for me, it was a quite good compromise and i would do this on miui too, if i get one.
I installed Google Launcher and I'm using it. You have to do a small workaround to activate it, but it's pretty easy.
Here you have it: http://en.miui.com/thread-87810-1-1.html
However, I'm not satisfied with only the Launcher, coming from 6 years of Nexus. I am eager of someone porting the stock Android to Mi5 ASAP. I thought that MIUI improved things, but hell, everything I find is drawbacks. :S
In your experience is there any better launcher than Google Now Launcher (performance wise) ?
