Zain SA - Huawei Mate 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

hello
the mate 10 is the only android phone that can make wifi call on my carrier "Zain SA", and i am wondering if any on can help me extract the data related to my carrier to run wifi call on my S8. any help is appreciated
regards

I can't see why the s8 wouldn't support WiFi calling when the mate 10 does, they both support it, as long as the carrier supports the feature, it should work on both.
On my s8 I had to disable it with my carrier first, then get them to re enable it before it would work with my s8.

i think there are some settings and files needed to be in the phone to be able to run
the carrier say they only support iphones

If they only support I phones, why is your mate 10 working out the box, even if their are files needed to enable WiFi calling, they wouldn't be compatible between Huawei and Samsung I wouldn't have thought.

i don't know, may be all the infrastructure of the carrier is form Huawei !!!

Someone has managed to enable the VoLTE in Italy (specifically with TIM)?

Hi, I recently purchased a Nokia 8 on Amazon (Italy, unlocked, TA-1004 EU6) and I am on the latest build (00WW_4_390). My carrier is TIM.
In the network settings I don't have the enhanced LTE toggle for HD Audio on call. Like someone else, if I search it in the settings, it appears among the results, but refers to the menu without its voice. In the hidden menu (*#*#4636#*#*) provisioning VoLTE is enabled and both data and voice are indicated on the LTE network.
Among the options of my SIM I have enabled the service "TIM Voce 4G" (aka "TIM Voice 4G"). So on my line the VoLTE is enabled and the Nokia 8 fully supports it.
I know that the carrier must also support the specific device, so I ask: someone in Italy managed to activate it? If yes with TIM or other carriers?
I did the initial setup of my Nokia 8 without the SIM for the issue of the alleged block of updates from the carriers (I don't think that things are like that and I explained why in the appropriate topic) and I wouldn't want this to affect the correct configuration of some carrier services.
Hello everyone.
As you know from the post above, I have a problem with enabling VoLTE on my Nokia 8.
Until a few days ago I found myself with a smartphone with full support hardware and software at VoLTE and with the relevant option active on my SIM, but my carrier (TIM) hadn't enabled the Nokia 8 to use this technology on its own network.
Now TIM has enabled the Nokia 3, 5 and 8 at VoLTE, but the option to activate HD calls continues to be inaccessible.
I also tried to subscribe to the beta program, but the situation is the same with both Android 8.0 and Android 8.1 (january security patches on both).
TIM has also reset the network, but they say they have no problem. On my Nokia I also reset the network options, as well as move the sim on the second slot, without success.
Are you aware of any way to force the display of that item? Once I remember that on Nexus 6P it was enough to disable VoLTE provisioning and disconnect from the network, or something similar.
Thank you all and sorry for the double post.

WiFi Calling

Has anyone going WiFi calling working on your Nokia 7 plus? I'm on Vodafone in the UK but have also tried an ID SIM.
I have got WiFi calling enabled by Vodafone but the option doesn't appear in the phone. I'm moving to a house with no signal so this will be pretty essential.
Any ideas?
I'm on a TA-1055 with the July patch.
Wifi calling and Volte work on BT Mobile and I suspect EE.
Vodafone seem to only allow devices purchased from them with their firmware on and I don't think they do a Nokia 7 Plus therefore it doesn't work.

Thanks @Ollie2. I have called Vodafone several times and they've always directed me to their page which lists the approved phones (Nokia 7 plus isn't one!).
I've logged a complaint as deliberately turning the function off if you haven't bought the phone from them seems to be anti-competetive and, frankly, a bad business model. I'll be leaving them for EE as soon as my contract ends.
The whole wifi calling and Volte situation on Android is a complete mess. I think the blame lies with both networks and the manufacturers.
Since Android 6 there has been a mechanism to add the correct details for Volte and Wifi calling to work without having to have a custom firmware for each network but lots choose not to utilise it.
With security updates being releases by the manufacturers having to wait for the networks to change a test their firmware seems ridiculous and networks and manufacturers should work to a standard that just works. That said I imagine that is easier said than done.
EE seem to be better than the rest but they're not perfect either.

My ALP-AL00 updated to EMUI 9.1.0.312, but still no VoLTE

I read the news that the EMUI9.1 will bring the VoLTE to Mate 10 series. So I got excited and updated my Mate 10, ALP-ALL00 Chinese version to EMUI9.1.0.312 as soon as it was available. However, there is NO VoLTE option in the mobile network. And I tried, my phone still cannot call through LTE.
Anyone else has any luck? My carrier is US Tmobile.
The good thing is this time when I updated my software, it did not break the Work Profile created by Company Portal.
VoLTE works even on EMUI 9.0. At least on BLA-L29 (9.0.0.246 C432E4R1P11). A lot od depends on carrier (in my case polish PLAY). For example, in my case, VoLTE wasn't work. I tried to figure out why and it turned out that my carrier doesn't support it on Mate 10 Pro for now, but they supports P20 Pro and few other Huawei devices. I called to customer service office, and asked them to turn it on on my account even if they don't support my model. 5 minutes later VoLTE icon shows on status bar and everything works fine. The option in settings menu, could shows themselve, when they turn it on. So, I suggest You to conntact your carrier.

VoLTE with Congstar (D1) in Germany

Congstar (D1) now offers VoLTE and WifiCall. It works in most phones I tested, like Samsung, Apple, Sony, Xiaomi, Motorola.
It does NOT work on my P30 Pro.
How to fix that?
to make it work, you must activate it on the phone, in the mobile data settings. for my part, I had first to ask my operator to activate the service too.

The Service ist activated by Congstar. IT works on many phones. But mit in P30 Pro.
The Options in mobile settings are Not there.
I know the Options from other phones. Like on my old Xperia xz2 compact. The Options are there, and I can Turn it on. I then call by VoLTE and can use WifiCalling. VoLTE works on the xz2c with my Provider Congstar.
That is because Sony has These VoLTE Options "Always activated". Huawei only Shows the functions for Providers that are in the internal list on the phone. That list has to be updated by Huawei.
I don't know if that will help you, but before, I had a lg g6 with the same provider that I currently have. Volte worked well without having to ask my provider anything. But with the p30 pro I had to call him to activate the service for this device.
Huawei updated by system Update. Now, VoLTE and WiFi Fall both Work.
With Update to emui 10.1 Volte an WiFi call works with German Providers like Congstar an fraenk etc

VoLTE and WIFI calling in US

Hi everyone,
Have a global version of X5 Pro.
Trying to make VoLTE and VoWIFI working on T-Mobile in US but no luck.
No toggles in SIM settings and toggles in Phone Info are grayed out.
Any ideas to activate it?
Same with me, I started another thread or two concerning this issue but I believe it has to do with T-Mobile's VoLTE/Wifi-calling provisioning relative to the Find X5 Pro's firmware?
Of course the phone supports VoLTE and WiFi-Calling, so I'm not sure why at least the latter won't work (or at least have a toggle). If you google 'how to enable WiFi calling', most people tell you to set (or re-set) your E911 address because it's a necessary feature of WiFi calling. Ive done this on the T-Mobile website AND with a support rep on the phone, but still no toggle to enable.
I haven't found anything about this outside of XDA so perhaps it's time to submit a ticket directly to Oppo.
Edit: could anyone from the EU/UK chime in on whether they have the toggle options for VoLTE/WiFi-calling? I think we need to identify whether the problem is based on region/carrier rather than the phone.
Pulled from a recent T-Mobile forum post about the same issue (but on multiple different phones):
"In order to enable WiFi calling from an unlocked phone, there appear to be several components which all need to align perfectly. The the phone must have the physical capability, obviously a WiFi antenna. It also seems to rely on VoLTE provisioned and WiFi calling provisioned abilities.
The former carrier must have unlocked the device and its IMEI for use on another carrier.
The current carrier must have enabled WiFi calling, and also configured an E911 address.
"Exactly! The firmware in the Sprint S8 is not compatible with T-Mobile’s WiFi Calling implementation. XDA might offer some work around through flashing or root, but through normal methods, WiFi Calling on such an old device that actually has carrier specific firmware isn’t going to work with a different carrier for those feature implementations. "

Vodafone Germany: Custom Firmware with VF branding, but no SIM- or Netlock
VoLTE has no toggle but is activated by default, VoWiFi has a toggle and works.
