Just wondering if the xposed firmware rovo released is supported on Note8 snapdragon US/CAN variant.
If so.
Has anyone has tried on the note 8 an got it working with no issues please let me know.
Nope. The development stopped along time ago for Snapdragon Xposed.

Soooo.... the note 8 is just not supported for xposed or. Does one need to update to some other custom Rom or something in order to Install xposed on the note 8 .
There are 2 different models of note 8. Snapdragon and Exynos. You can download Xposed if you have the Exynos version of the note 8. However, you can't do the same if you have the Snapdragon version of the note 8.

So do I need to start a bounty for the note 8 snapdragon or something. I'm sure there's alot of people willing to pay @rovo89 or @me2151 to get xposed working on snapdragon. ? I myself would offer 100 dollars to have it working on my note 8. An I'm sure if i started a thread for Canadian an US variants with note 8 snapdragon there would be alot more cash involved . Or is it just impossible.?
let's get oreo first.

Oreo comes after snapdragon. Why skip the people who rooted before Oreo came out. ?
Lol
waste of efforts to try and get snapdragon nougat working when oreo is where eveything is at. the whole reason why initially nougat almost never got xposed is that by the time a stable working version was available, oreo was going to be mainstream and all those efforts should go towards a current OS.
edit:
grant it, somebody got their hands on the partially working nougat build and made it work(exynos) a that time so you never know... but again, oreo should be the main focus i think.
Still no way to get Xposed on our Snapdragon Note 8's? I saw something mentioned about flashing a modified stock firmware, but I can't find anymore about this, and if it would even allow Xposed.
Just a question: which is the Snapdragon version? Is it the 9500?
I'm thinking about buying a new Note 8, and Xposed will be welcome.
Thanks!

I've been a google phone user since they started, and messed with a couple others but not really...
Will this phone be as open as I'm used to in regards to ROMs? Do they lock the bootloader like I had a my Xperia?
Exynos version (international) will likely see ROMs. Snapdragon version (US carriers) will not. We'll be lucky if we get root.

why is that ?
Because Snapdragon is a locked bootloader. Without some kind of luck, leak or flaw there will be no root. At best, disable the update package with BK disabler so you won't take any updates in the hope that there is a flaw which allows us to root.
Cant wait to get twrp .... Only minimal changes must done from s8 to n8
Exynos is king Stay with the [F] variant and you will be fine (SM-N950F or SM-N950FD)
I have the 256gb Korean version, are the Korean models usually compatible with other roms (i would have went for the 64 gb FD but the price difference wasn't that big so i went with bigger storage
Well guess I'll send mine back and get an unlocked phone

Exactly my thought. Just like the S7 to Note 7, very easy to root, twrp and ROM.
I am just going to wait for all that to be done lol.

thanks. I didn't know that. My Snapdragon dual SIM on top of a micro SD slot N9100 was rooted but no good custom ROM [ unfortunately ]. always watching for a newer and better version of AMOLED, dual SIM AND microSD, stylus, removable battery for years now. skipped 5, 7 and may skip 8 as well. especially if there is no root and no TWRP. 4 is still running strong.

Thank you - exactly what I wanted to know.
What root and Xposed Setup are note 9 960F Dual sim users using ? Oreo+Root+Xposed OR Pie+Root+EdXposed.
I managed to get root , magisk , edxposed working on Pie On March Security Patch. But the system became unstable after i restored titanium backup data restore. The SystemUI stopped responding frequently and after some troubleshooting i was not able to find a solution.I managed to use a stable system for a brief period of time and it wasnt impressive at all.
The second problem i faced is listed here (unable to setup IRIS,Fingerprint lock)
After a full odin flash , root , I failed in replicating root and magisk due to various problems like : unofficial binaries, etc.
I am thinking of sticking with Oneplus5T and selling the Note 9 . Oneplus speed and setup is addictive. I can live with the inferior hardware.
Before the switch i am thinking of trying root+xposed setup on oreo
How did you go about this? Using the old root methods listed in here? Once you have achieved installation of TWRP, you would be far safer to just flash one of the various custom roms with a good rep and go from there.
Are you on Snapdragon or Xynos?

I did not buy note 9 for using it with custom rom. Custom rom has its own set of problems. The biggest jolt would be a reduced camera app. My old phone would be better than a custom rom
Sent from my unknown using Tapatalk
He prob on 960F as 960U does not have root. Would be nice to specify what devices so people are not jumping in here thinking this is snapdragon.
Sent from my SM-N935F Note FE

After using Note 9 for a brief period of time , i understood samsung devices are not for me. My last Samsung device was note 4 . The dual version performed horribly with 16gb memory. I can live with the inferior hardware of OP5T for now and will probably upgrade it with OP7. Oneplus opmtization is the best and its addictive. Also on note 9 i missed "Island " Android for work support. Even with all the modification i have on my OP5T its super fast.
Hello people as the title states I recently purchased a note 9. I wanted to get the N960F model but when it arrived, to my surprise it was a N9600, which is no problem for me because snapdragon is a good thing, the only downside is the fewer development.
Anyhow I have some. Questions and I would like to hear your recommendations As I'm waiting the 7 days for the OEM unlock to appear.
1. Should I update the system? My n9 came with Android 8.1.0,but I don't know if I update it would be detrimental for the sake of rooting
2. Is this model rootable? I believe so but could you direct me to the thread on that regard.
3. Would you recommended self de bloating with TB or try WETA Rom?
4. What would you suggest: stay on stock + root or WETA Rom?
5. I've seen a lot of pie complains so should I stay on Oreo or give Pie a try? I come from the OnePlus3, I'm a former flashoholic XD and 'til my last moments with the OP3 I had HavocOS which was pie based, thus I'm hesitant to look back to Oreo.
6. This should be 1st but anyway do I need to unlock the bootloader or something special before rooting and installing twrp?
7. I've read that development for the SD version is difficult and that AOSP Roms are stuck because of gpu frequencies and other stuff, but do you think that this version will receive some. More loving from the development department in the future?
Thanks in advance guys and I appreciate your time in reading and for any suggestions you may give.
yes
Just like exynos, the bootloader is unlocked and you can always root it, version does not matter, pie , oreo. and yes you can also run all the GSIs on the phone cause its a Treble enabled device which helps a lot with roms and i think there will be much more roms for n9600 as well as soon as it ages a bit and people start rooting them. You could install WETA ROM or any other ROM / Kernel, Rooting is same as Exynos model except the TWRP has to be for Snapdragon

Thanks mate, in terms of rooting, should I use official magisk of a custom one?
On the twrp thread for the SD variant people mention the official. They just recommend versions 18.1 for Oreo and 19 for pie, is that alright?
And if I update my firmware and software over Ota before rotring and installing twrp, will it be a problem?
Hi
There is a question. Is it possible to develop Android 11 ROM with OneUI 3.0?
Maybe it can be based on official ROM for Note 10 Lite...

Well, perhaps you might find some AOSP or such simulation rom, but not the real one.
For me the best android was OS v6.01, the latest don't make sense that much anymore, it just trendy to go with it.

Yes, the SM-N770 running same chip (exynos) as the SM-N960
just thinking the reason why N9 was abandoned by Samsung, is it due to limited HW configuration or some other reasons? such as force you transfer to new toy......
Possibly useless but petition for Android 11 offical update:

Wicked enterprise, if that is not too rude. Snapdragon US carrier locked Note 9 s are now officially paperweights.
There already is one. Just go to the ROMs page. Noble ROM.

What's reason this kind of new 3.0 is just working for Exynos, but not for Snapdragon?

The lack of similar Samsung device(with One UI 3.1 or higher) with identical processor(Snapdragon 845) makes it a bit difficult, but not impossible unless some dev has a SM-N9600 and port One UI 3.1 on that variant of Note 9. However, it might take a while just like how it took so long for @corsicanu to port Android 10 to Note 8(SM-N950F/FD/N) models

The bootloaders are locked on the SD versions. And also the lack of a similar or idenitcal SOC on a phone that already has that version of Android. (For example Nougat with Touchwiz was ported to Note 4 Exynos just because Tab S2 came from factory with Nougat. Or that 7.1.2 was ported to HTC One M9 because HTC Bolt/Evo10 came with it. Only possible because they share SOCs.)

Yeah. Maybe if somebody makes a One UI 3.x GSI you could probably install it that way.
its been a few years since i modded a phone. i recently got my hands on a used samsung galaxy note 8 {factory unlocked/no carrier} with a snapdragon processor.
model # SM-N950U1
Im searching around this forum but most of the info is for exynos processors.
i need to unlock the bootloader and root so that i can install
LineageOS 19.1.how can i do this?
The snapdragon version is called the "greatqlte". You can root it via twrp, but I'm not sure about custom rom support, and definitely not lineage19.1.
The snapdragon version has basically no support on xda. Someone posted a question similar to yours a while back.
too bad , its still a good phone, whats the highest version of android i can install ?
I don't think there are any roms.. I think I saw an oreo one, but you're probably better off sticking to oneui on android 9, which is stable (unlike the oreo build).
You can still root and debloat/customise your phone via magisk modules etc.
