Anyone tried Lineage 15.1 custom ROM on Mate 10 Pro? - Huawei Mate 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

I heard Lineage OS now works in Project Treble supported devices like Mate 10 pro, View 10,etc.

Most (maybe all) of those Treble based roms will work on Mate 10 pro. Also, some Mate 10 pro owners already reported that are working fine.

I tried on my mate 10 pro without problem. I also root it with Magisk 16 without issue.

Download your previous firmware update.zip from http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/ and extract update.app.
Download Huawei Update Extractor.
Open Huawei Update Extractor and go to settings and disable header checksum. (header is incorrect for erecovery_ramdisk, this causes the program to stop)
Open update.app in Huawei Update Extractor.
Right click on SYSTEM and Extract Selected.
Flash system.img using Fastboot flash system system.img.
You will most likely have to factory reset after using stock recovery. (recovery_ramdisk is stock recovery, extract and flash if needed)

Not recommended! Depends on how the custom rom modified the system folder, installing via fastboot the system.img does not format the system folder (I wanted to remove the audio mods, so flashed system.img via fastboot but the audio mods etc were still present/the libs of the audio mods were not removed. Only the apps gone)

Uh, if you flash system.img your /system is replaced by that of the image. If your mod modified a partition other than /system, then sure it will be left.
But that was not the question. He asked how to restore Emui, and flashing stock system from fastboot will restore Emui.
If you have used V4a that's not a Magisk Module, then /vendor will be modified and you'd have to remove it manually or HWOTA back to stock.

How does this compare against Treble AOSP ?

It's impossible, fastboot is a low-level method, nothing from your old /system partition will survive, period.

I would not do this. I tried going back to stock with the exact same method thinking it would fix it since we only flashed system.img to go to lineage, but after that i bricked my device. was able to restore it using this tool:

Did you factory reset after flashing system? Because else you will bootloop (in most cases).
I've gone back and forth between phh, openkirin, lineage and stock. No bricks yet

I did not come so far that I have used the camera(app) and in the meantime I'm back on EMUI stock.
Also I am not sure if you mean both camera lenses or both camera apps.
In case you mean wether or not you can use the EMUI camera app next to the Lineage rom camera app, you might install this EMUI camere app with apk:

Flashable L09C432B378

Does anyone know how to flash untouched stock L09C432B378 with TWRP ?
You do need to have an unlocked bootloader, then you can enter fastboot mode and flash TWRP.
You can flash the full OTA again in case something goes wrong and this does also restore the bootloader lock.
Or do you mean to flash the firmware in TWRP?

Here you can find any firmware for the EVA-L09 to download. You need to extract the content to a "dload"-folder on your sdcard and start the install by booting with Vol+ & Vol- pressed.

No this should work in any state your device is in regarding what's installed/flashed except when your battery is low.
But consider that it will also restore recovery/boot partitions and the bootloader in general.

Are you sure you have extracted the contents of the zip to a folder called dload on the root of your sdcard and your battery is not low? You can also check the guides to this method in this forum.
It also depends on what firmware you are using now but if you already are on b378 it should definitely work fine.

Since my phone is unlocked and has TWRP, maybe that the problem.
So I flash oeminfo-huawei-p9-eval09-c432.zip, then the process work but upon reboot a lot of stock app are missing, including camera, folder and backup. And there is no keyboard.
I am not entirely sure but I think these are located on the /vendor partition. But I always thought that they were part of the full OTA. Maybe you can try to find and flash the stock vendor partition?
Sent from my Huawei P9 using XDA Labs
You'll have to flash update_full_hw_eu.zip as well.
Extract it and put that update.app in the dload folder. Where did you download firmware from?
Seems you must flash hw in twrp. no other way.
EVA-L09C432B378 FullOTA-MF: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G753/g104/v75049/f1/full/update.zip

I don't think Public is needed, it contains no update.app anyway and would need to be flashed in TWRP.

Guide to install Nougat / Emui5 on BTV-DL09

Okay, managed to get Nougat and root for my BTV-DL09. Here is a fast forward tutorial how to do that.
I could only root it by using Magisk, Supersu (even the special emui5 ones) did not work for me.
Files:
ROM: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1224/g490/v78425/f1/full/update.zip (BTV-DL09C233B336)
Data: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...full/dualcu/cn/update_data_full_dualcu_cn.zip
TWRP, make sure to use twrp_BTV-DL09_5_greatslon.img : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634750327 (thanks to greatslon)
Root: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
I came from version BTV-DL09C100B006, this is how I did it:
Bootloader must be unlocked, custom recovery installed (Do not install the one for EMUI5 yet, it won't boot).
Enter recovery by adb reboot recovery
Wipe, reboot recovery
Flash ROM + Data
Flash Magisk Root
Flash Recovery again (will be overwritten by the udate)
Reboot, Done.
Download playstore / vending APK from APKmirror: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-store/google-play-store-7-6-08-release/ and transfer it on the device.
There is an app called "Downloads" preinstalled (there is pretty much nothing on the tablet, not even a browser after flashing it), you can use that to open/install the play store APK and get things going.
Please make sure you know what you are doing and you know how to recover from a soft brick. I take no responsibility if anything goes wrong.
The version you should have now is BTV-DL09C233B336 with security update from February included.
Thank you very much, and how to downgrade ?
can someone upload a youtube video showing us the the new EMUI5 on this tablet, and give us an overview about the new features and performance?
Beware that:
1) this is a chinese ROM
2) Nougat version 7.0.0
3) if you don't like the downgrade process is difficult
4) if you want to downgrade have to find another ROM!!!
any idea to downgrade please

You need another ROM, FULL not OTA.
1) extract from the .APP the recovery (both) and boot images
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454
2) get a build.prop from the ROM you want to install
3) copy the build.prop in the /system folder, overwriting the original: now the old ROM will unlikely boot!
4) go in fastboot mode and flash recovery, recovery2 and boot images
5) copy the update.app in the dload folder
6) reboot and maintain pressed both volume keys to start recovery
7) if you are lucky the recovery will install the ROM.
Of course you will loose all your data (uhm, not even but... MAKE A BACKUP before!)
If you don't know well how to do ALL this don't even try!
If you have the original european LTE ROM please share it!!!

Hi nicolap8 even I followed the same steps as you suggested with the file links you shared and I am also NRD90M test-keys on my Mediapad BTV-DL09
installing Magisk first time gave me a fail message but second time it works like a charm. thanks
could you help, thanks
Switched to eu rom, updated to nougat.. unlocked bootloader and rooted with magisk
But using magisk caused the fingerprint sensor not to work at all and there is no settings for the FP in the settings menu.
Uninstalled magisk and the fingerprint worked again but obviously I lost root.
Flashing SuperSU didn't work gives an error in twrp no matter what version I try.
Any idea on how to root without compromising the fingerprint sensor?? :/

Honor 4x Che2-L11 (EU) - problem with baseband and IMEI.

Hi, I'm new to this forum.
I have a problem with my phone.
After rooting it was good, but later I wanted to upload another ROM and confused the versions to the Snapdragon processor than HiSilicon and now I don't have a baseband and IMEI.
I have tried the original 6.0, 5.1 trough adb-fastboot, because I can't restore trough dload, I had message 'Install software failed' and nothing helps.
Do you have any ideas?

Try to use rollback package and then reflash lollipop. (you can also try to flash marshmallow with updateappflasher but i think it flash only stuff you need to boot)

And if it works, wich zip file i have to choose? And i have root
Thanks
Try my guide (Tutorial #2, Oreo to Oreo)
After that do a factory reset with eRecovery (boot with Vol+ and connected USB).
What also should work is flashing the system.img manually via fastboot.
For this extract the system.img from the correct firmware version with Huawei Update Extractor.
Connect your phone to your PC, boot into fastboot and flash with "fastboot flash system PATH\TO\SYSTEM.IMG".
After that do a factory reset with eRecovery (boot with Vol+ and connected USB).
Note for the next time: backup your system partition via TWRP before flashing the custom rom.
Also note that a factory reset is needed, without your phone won't boot, so backup your personal data before doing it.

Yes, it works on the P10. You can download the files with the firmware finder app. I'd recommend the newest oreo version for your customisation (e.g. B382 for C432).
But Jannomag's solution should work equally well.
Wich Jannomag´s thread?
Do you have the link, please?
Thanks

Possibly you renamed the wrong customisation file (i did it once for the 09 while I needed the 29).
Which one did you download? And did you flash manually or did you use my script?
Download my oeminfo, it's from VTR-L29C432 Version 8.0.0.380, while the version doesn't really matter.
Flash it via TWRP using "Install" and "Use Image". Flash it to oeminfo partition. Then do my update script again.
I followed the guide to do Oreo to Oreo - basically wanting to get from custom Rom (fRomFuture B370) back to stock, so I chose the same firmware version to extract. Flashed everything with the script and it went fine and it boots and works.. but
The resolution seems to be off, too low and the right side of the screen is unresponsive to touch (about 1cm )
EDIT- Rolled back to fRomFuture B370 for now - need to find a way to get back to stock, as want to move on to Openkirin ROM instead
HI, i have a vtr-l29 root, i want to unroot(version oreo), how do i do it? what do i need to flash?. thank you Alex

Could someone please post 10.0.14 fastboot?

Hi everyone,
I have some months before accidentally reset after ota update on magisk and lost root. Unfortunately I cant find this FW anywhere since it was almost immediatly been replaced by 10.0.16, and the only thread having such old firmware was using filehosting from which the links expired.
I tried doing a system ota, but it won't work. I don't expect anyone to extract the boot.img for me just share the 10.0.14. if available, i would prefer not to wipe system data, since now without root i can't backup, and Helium is no longer supported.
Thank You.

OTA updates usually don't touch the boot image so you could use the fastboot or recovery ROM V10.0.13.0 from here https://flashxiaomi.com/download-install-miui-rom-for-xiaomi-mi-a2-all-miui-firmwares/ also you can flash a recovery and backup your boot image to patch it through Magisk or flash directly the zip (a lower version)

Thank you for replying,
i thought about it but if it proves not the case, and they changed the hex i wouldnt like bootloops or problems down the road. If it works i will try to backup and go to latest android 9, since many are complaining about version 10 with emmc apparently forgotten.
Also unfortunately i lost twrp, and don't have a sd cardfor flashing, and wouldn't like to wipe data to install twrp.
I thought about it and my only course of action is getting the boot.img, dd is out of option since I am not rot, is there a non root way to unpack if it turns out 10.0.13 causes a bootloop?
Sorry if some things don't make sense I am getting back to this after a long hiatus, can I still extract the img. from zip, or do I have to upack it with python?
Thank you.

It was a minor/small update, I doubt it causes a bootloop.
You can flash Orange Fox through fastboot, no need to wipe data and from there either just flash Magisk or backup your boot and patch it if you prefer this method.
Not sure to which image you refer, no need to unpack the image by any method.

Thank you again, for orange fox especially,
I thought I needed Payload dumper, or is that only after android 10?
Thanks for the help, i only liked your replies, i dont know if they removed thanks globally or only on QA forums

No, if you refer to a method to unpack the ROM it comes either in zip format (recovery) or in tar.gz format (fastboot), you just need to unpack it with something like Winrar other 7zip and inside you will find the boot image.
It's a global change, in this new platform they removed the thanks option, I disagree but this is how it is.
