Hi all, well my One arrived from the UK today.. As I feared it does not have the ATT LTE bands that PDAbd.net suggested it had, bummer, but I can live with HSDPA... Set up the phone, it asks me to select the operator I am unsing, with ATT as the first choice... all goes well.. I load it up and initial impressions... WOW.. what a great phone.
BUT and and very BIG BUT.... the signal is terrible... bouncing from no signal to 2 bars and displaying H one minute, 3G the next and then E...
Driving down a notorious road it drops the call at least half a mile before typical and doesn't pick it up again until even later..
Does anyone know if there are any setting I can adjust to optimize to ATT?
I really do not want to put it is back in the box, but unless someone has a suggestion for me, I have no choice...
Help!!
Many thanks,
Nick
A quick question. Where did you get your HTC One? And have you used any other HTC Phones before and got good signal with it?

Hi There,
I bought it in the UK. It was a legitimate HTC supplier and an unlocked model 801n.
I have used a couple HTC phones in the past:
ATT 8X - worked well (at least as far as signal was concerned, but that was the ATT model)
I also had a Verizon Incredible, but since that is a different provider, I am ignoring it.
Other phones I have right now adn tested in the same location with the same SIM:
1. ATT - Galaxy note 2 - good signal no issues
2. ATT LG Optimus G - Good signal no issues
3. ATT Iphone 5 Good signal no issues
4. ATT Nokia 920 - good signal no issues
5. Blackberry Z10 - unbelievably good signal - no issues - Unlocked ATT bands, not ATT branded (Purchased from Expansys USA)
This is why I am wondering whether it is some kind of optimization issue. I cannot believe HTC could have made such a mistake in design. Also, if I switch to GSM only, I have full bars.... It is only on 3G and HSDPA that the signal is poor and the display oscillates between 3G and H
Any advice?
Many thanks,
Nick
Are you rooted? The solution is disabling fast dormancy on HTC One. New HTC devices enables fast dormancy by default which affects & weakens signal strength on networks that doesn't support it yet. If not I am not aware of any ways to disable it without root yet. I'll update you if I find one.
On UK almost all networks do support fast dormancy already except for Three UK so that maybe the reason why it's enabled by default in the US however I am not aware of the implementation of network carriers there sorry.

No I am not rooted - what will I lose if I root it? Do you know of a link to a simple thread with rooting instructions and how to disable the fast dormancy? I am not super experienced with Android yet
Does anyone know whether ATT supports fast dormancy of not?
Also, I have been led to believe that the One supports a number of carrier frequencies, but they only enable those for the specific region it is sold in. Do you know if there is a way to enable the other frequencies? Or is this just an unfounded rumor? Also, do you know if there is a way to check which LTE band the phone I have is equipped with - Not an on-line reference, but a way to find it on the phone?
Many thanks!!
Your warranty if you mess something in the software's side like bricking your phone & OTA updates. But you'll be able to update anyways just by directly flashing on the phone.
Anyways here's a noob proof app to rooting. Please do some research first before going so you'll not mess this up.

And... No. AT&T doesn't support fast dormancy.

Check this regarding what is Fast Dormancy and tell us if it works(probably NOT (it works only to samsung phones) but it is easy to try) http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-international/674208-fast-dormancy-in-nutshell.html
"To turn FD on/off enter *#9900# in the dialler to get into the SysDump screen then select the Fast Dormancy option"
You mind sharing the link if they have stock? Good luck with the signal issue.

I had a friend with an international GS2 with the same problem. Constantly bounced from HSPA+ to 3G to EDGE to no signal. I'm 99% sure that the issue is network settings, you likely need to check SIM card, data plan provisioning, APNs, etc.

Thanks for the suggestion... As soon as I enter the code, I get an error, so I am unable to even get to the SysDump

Hey, thanks - Do you know what settings I should use? I have an LTE provisioned SIM card...I assume that should be ok, since the phone is LTE enabled, just wrong bands? I have tried with Auto LTE on and of - I currently have it on GSM/WCDMA - it has been working better the past day, but it is still not right..
The SIM works perfectly in the Note 2, Optimus G etc. So I am wondering whether I need to look at the APN or something like that, but I do not know what the best settings should be. Anyone have this info?
Many thanks,
Nick

APN shouldn't affect your mobile signal reception. It's just made for cellular data profiling. So you are able to connect to the internet.
How about try setting your network selection mode to manual and just select the top most usable network there?
Interesting... I am in Korea right now and have great signal... no issues at all. However, my data indicator is still bouncing between H and 3G, so that is very strange...
Despite the indicated low signal and bouncing data connection type indicator, the phone is working well, have not dropped a call recently and excellent phone call quality...
NO LTE connection in Korea though.. I assume that is probably due to ATT not having a LTE roaming data service agreement here? I believe my phone has at least one LTE band that it supported here.
Have fun..
Nick
I think u should talk to att people may be they can help? With the signal issue or the data connection issues!
Please let us know once u figure it out

I want to know if anybody can help to post the Band coverage by screenshoot on their Note 8
I am just wondering by Turning on/off band preference on their service mode, it will resolve the speed problem on Data and coverage problem, As we know some people buy the hand set such Unlocked version . US carrier (TMo/Ver/ATT/Sprint) version ,International version , but they don't use the same carrier the note 8 is manufactured for.
Like mine My Note 8 is T Mobile version .
You can see by press => setting=>about phone=> Service provider SW ver. last line is TMB/TMB/TMB
By Checking Service Mode for Band Coverage by dialing *#2263# on dial pad you will see like mine below
With TMB/TMB/TMB , I found after press 2 that WCDMA Band preference==> some band not supported .
please stated what model is your Note 8 firmware while you do iit and "Service provider SW ver"
this is also will help us to make decision if changing carrier/Carrier switching by flashing the FW is necessary.

Thank you
Good morning
The service mode doesnt work for my note, do you know if theres another code to access that menu (I have the international version and wanted to check my coverage/data)
Some time ago I purchased the SM-N920C model form Amazon.com 3rd party seller here in US and it turned to be model from Emirates, it worked just fine last months of 2016 but this year I noticed the signal reception is not as strong as it used to be with T-Mobile, even though I live in the same (Miami, FL area) place and use it same way. It is international model version unlocked with 32GB memory.
The Amazon published the compatibility chart recently for this phone which shows "partial compatibility" with Voice/Text and data, whatever it means, the phone receives/sends calls, text and LTE data no problem. It is just the phone sensitivity that dropped in past few months and I thought the possible cause might be that the phone does not cover some GMS and/or LTE bands hence the problem with "weaker signal reception". I am also aware that T-Mobile has been switching between bands in my area in past couple of years disconnecting some of them permanently, not sure about details though.
I am aware most of those modern phones have multiband radio chips that can be configured in variety way so I was curious if there is alternate modem FW out there for my phone that I could flash to improve phone reception.
Is there?
Attached is the existing FW info. I would appreciate help in this matter, thanks for reading.

Hey
I'm live in france and i have a phone package with operator Orange
I have a little (BIG) problem with my Mi 9 when i'm at work ( on other place it's work very good)
My network 4g have issue by intermittence
exemple : i play video game online , all work and instantly while 4-5 minutes i don't have any 4g
it's random , sometime my network 4g work 30 minutes and after disappears and again and again
I did not have this problem since 1 month , it's appear since 2 weeks
Things who was tested : reboot , wipe cache , factory reset
I try to call orange , and they said to me " it's a problem with frequency of you're phone " but i don't believe that , because all 4g bands in france are compatible with Mi 9 , and i did not have this problem before
Orange have verify if they have problems with network on my work but all is good for them , and they said that no customer has reported the same problem in the zone :crying:
The only solution is to force 3g only , 0 problems with 3g
Ps : i don't think it's a harware issue because i don't have this problem on my house etc
Who have the problem ?
Someone can help me ?
Thanks
Nobody can help me please?

Seems you are alone with this problem? Sometimes firmware updates can destroy connections. But I don't know what wrong in your case.
ok thanks
Download Netmonster and add database, then you'll see the signal in dBm and also the frequency. You can go to anfr antennes relais to check where the antennas are. I hope you buy global version otherwise you can have some issues with 4G
Can you tell me if this phone is 4xCA or 3xCA ready : when you activate 4G you'll see on netmonster 800+1800+2100+2600
Thanks
I got the same problem in France, but on the SFR Operator, in 4G as well, since Monday (maybe since Friday 31/05 but I'm always on wifi when not at work).
- Seems like, whatever the cell tower, I get almost no data out. I can make calls on 3G, of course.
- Basically, I've got almost no data output and very limited input (LTE : 7/2 Mb/S speedtest), and I got to use wifi all the time if I want to do something. On 3G, it's 3.9/0.7 Mb/s
I haven't heard of someone else having problems just yet, but that might be either a local issue (I'm near Paris) or a wider cell outage.
I don't think it's related to the phone itself, more on the operator's side, because there hasn't been an update of MIUI justifiying a different behavior.
Yes upgrade to MUI 10 with my mix 2s cause e reduction of TX output so you recieve less, i dont know it's the case for mi9
I got 50 mega in 4g+ 800+1800 with sfr
Try near an 4g antenna like 20 or 100 meters to see if you can have a good speed

Hello everyone, I live in Hong Kong and bought a Pixel 5 GD1YQ. The phone is great, but the network performance is not as I expected. I even suspect my Pixel 5 has a defective modem. I use the app NetMonster to check the bands that my phone connects to. It rarely shows LTE-A, but only connects to one band. What's even worse is when it connects to band 1 (2100 MHz), it sometimes drops internet connection and shows an 'X' in the signal bar, the signal bar is full though. I had an Xperia 1 before and it always connected to multiple bands (CA) wherever I go.
I have a little request here. Would you mind telling me whether your Pixel 5 always does CA or not. Also, if you have another phone, how is CA on the other phone comparing to Pixel 5? I just want to know whether my phone has a faulty modem or just isn't compatible with the carriers in Hong Kong? Thanks in advance.
Update: I just found that when I use another carrier, the phone changes bands more actively. So, I guess that's a compatibility problem. Now that I want to buy one more of another colour.
