Hello,
There are rumours over the internet that Motorola might skip Android 5.1 update for Moto G 2014 and going for Android M/Android 6.0 update. Anybody have any idea about this? I have already started to wonder because Moto G 2013 received Android 5.1 update quite a while ago and all that Moto G 2014 got was Stagefright fix.

Moto g 2014 will get 6.0. We always have our devs :v
Yes please skip 5.1.1 and wait another half year for Motorola to release M for Moto G2, when the next Android version will be released by Google and skip Android M too. :good:
Google App Version 5.3
Please install the new google now launcher on play store, moto g 2nd gen.. vertical app icon nd search option is the new change
Devices with Android 4.4 and higher, reports say, are eligible to get the update. However, it was reported that only Android M preview 3 devices will experience the perks of the update.
A few months ago, the company announced that the Now on Tap feature would not be included in the Android M preview testers. The update though may imply that Google has changed its mind.
Meanwhile, the update also brings the vertical scrolling app drawer to the Google Now Launcher.

developers created 5.1.1 based roms while it wasn't rolled out by moto g, so will they get interest in developing marshmallow for our device?

Hell yeah. I don't care about the Moto update. We have a great community.
Well, finally we have the news. Motorola is going to provide Android Marshmallow update for Moto G 2014. Here is the link from Motorola official blog: http://motorola-blog.blogspot.in/2015/10/marshmallow-and-smore.html
The best part is, their software upgrade page now shows information about Android 6.x Marshmallow
Check it out here: https://motorola-mobility-en-in.custhelp.com/app/software-upgrade-news/g_id/2014
So most probably, we won't be getting any Android 5.1..1 update.

Well, Motorola has announced Android M/Android6.0 for Moto G 2014. It is on their official blog and you can check it here: http://motorola-blog.blogspot.in/2015/10/marshmallow-and-smore.html.
Also, their software upgrade page now shows information about Android 6.x Marshmallow
Check it out here: https://motorola-mobility-en-in.cust...news/g_id/2014
But what we need to keep in mind is that Motorola is very much slow when it comes to releasing updates. Nexus already got it, I am sure, like Android Lollipop, many of other devices would get it before Motorola releases.

Well, let's just look at the history:
Android 5.0: We got it after months after Google released it for Nexus.
Android 5.1: Nexus got it long time back, we didn't get that one.
Android 6.0: You say? maybe June 2016 or something

I guess around December 2015 or 2016 January let's stay positive .
Apparently, an OTA update has been issued to the Android One Moto X4, which added the November security patch and supposedly improved stability and camera performance of the device. Is there anyone here with the Android One variant of the Moto X4 with this update, and if so, do you feel that this update has improved anything in the two above fields/what was said to be improved in the update changelog?
Just checked, no OTA available in my location atm. Hopefully soon. *I'll let you know when it does
Android One on Project Fi. Still on Sept patch. No updates available.
I have the normal Moto x4 variant. It came with the with November security patch, and performance and camera improvements. Update was about 120 mb or so. My x4 did see a sleight increase in performance and camera. I'm in the US. I received the update a couple of days ago. I know youre asking about the one variant but the updates shouldn't be too different right?
Protect fi version here. I got an update a few days ago, the camera no longer takes 5 seconds to take a picture.
I haven't really noticed anything different otherwise, I just really really miss my lg g5 camera
Moto X4 Android One.......Got my update this evening. Stability was never really an issue, but the phone does seem smoother now. Camera is faster. Haven't had much time to take pictures so can't speak about quality. Comes with Nov 1 security patch. Small update. Took about 30 mins to complete.

OTA is 90.6MB.

this may be a really dumb question but i can't find the answer anywhere... is it possible to flash the stock android one rom on a normal x4?

Right now it does not seem to be a port available yet, it should be done soon, like it was done quickly on the Xiaomi Mi 5X from the Mi A1, but flashing directly through fastboot, is very risky, there is a high chance that it will fail and brick your device and there is another variable to take into account, the Android One is probably using A/B partitions, which I think the regular X4 is not, so a fastboot flash is again, very risky. We're still waiting on TWRP, once that is available, hopefully custom ROMs will start flowing =D this is just a couple month old device

Actually Retail x4 is also using A/B partitioning. so there's high chaance straight up system flashing will work.

Several have gone the other direction and flashed retail on an A1 model. At least one has returned to a Fi image afterwards, but by using a Flashfire backup as an official copy of the Fi firmware is not available yet. Something in the currently established bootloader unlock/root process screws up the OTA process, so that's something to be aware of. It'll get fixed eventually, but it's an issue for now.
when will moto x4 XT1900-2 (indian veriant) get January patch or get February security patch ????

+1 (sorry, should have specified that this was for Android One (Project Fi) OPWS27.1.2 Feb. update)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x4/how-to/opws27-1-1-ota-t3746884
Guys, not everyone owns the Android-One-Version.
Basically it depends on region, there's no guarantee every version will get every Security-Patch. Only thing Motorola promised was Oreo upgrade, this should be rolled out everywhere and has December 2017 Security patch. Other patches might come - but that will be random at this point until Motorola announces a more-specific update.
Received the January patch on my xt1900-1 unlocked (using project fi)
Brazil started February patch rollout this week, jumping from December to February.
I just received Feb OTA this morning. On Android One / Fi.
Got my feb security update today on my android one x4.
I have an android 1 via project fi and I have received both the January patches and today was just pushed the February patches.
Have retail Moto x4 retus flashed to Android 1 and I also received the February update two days ago
I have the Android One version using Verizon and have only received one update since purchase on release date. Still on build NPW26.6 with Nov security patch.
Has everyone that received updates on Fi Network?
Anyone experiencing (random) reboots on specific Wifi APs with the February update on Oreo for the X⁴?

Exactly right 1900-7 reteu version. At the moment no specifics about the AP, just that it is a hotel AP with a lot of users. Other users in my vacation party do not experience these restart issues. Outside there is a ski resort AP which doesn't make my phone restart. I installed the laters feb update while on vacation so not sure if home AP has same problem. Next week i get back home.

I've experienced similar conditions with the university wifi and never had a reboot on that really really wide and overloaded connection. I don't know what might be the issue with that particular AP. Have you tried rebooting the phone from the power menu?

Hi all,
Looks like Oreo update is rolling out in India.
Source: https://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/moto-g5s-plus-android-8-1-oreo-update-rollout-begins-1859708
Did you got it
I have confirmed this from the support. They say it is true.
Can you send screenshot please?
Is it gonna be 64bit or 32bit ?
sorry, this is not a rollout, it is a release note.. the rollout could come in 1-2 months

You confirm it when people get oreo on their phone, not when lenovo say oreo is coming. Oreo has been coming for a year now.
You'll notice there's no source for that article.

Instead of Oreo update i just got security update of 1st June
I got the June security patch today.. Still no oreo..
They don't want to mess up with bugs, they are testing Oreo via soak testers and it would take at least one month to release Oreo final build for all users. So, jus wait for few days u will definitely get it.
Funny "just wait you will get it" , some people arent even getting the June security update, im not so sure how motorola sends out updates. If they are relying on carriers, then we likely wont get anything , this is why i usually forego the ota nonsense and just root/custon recovery/ custom rom , and never look back , i dont have the time to do that now

That's my last option. Will simply unlock the bootloader. Install TWRP, root and than install tonnes of custom roms simultaneously. Can't wait to install Viper4Android and Lucky patcher. The same what I did with my previous Moto E & Moto E2(otus) and now a g5s plus user.
I am not very eager to stick with Stock rom. But there are many roms out there filled with too many bugs, which made me to stick with the Stock.
I always unlock the BL first if i can , you can always get OTA after that unless you do custom recovery , or root ! I usually dont wait for OTA, because carriers usually scrap the idea of updates until theyve sold a few million of the fones first , by that time , the fone is old and then they feel theres no need to upgrade anyway because there Hawking a new better fone !
I've found another article on Oreo for Moto G5
https://support.motorola.com/us/en/Solution/MS130856
I too got security patch update only.

Last one I got was April 1, 2019 on my XT1900-1
The latest update for the is the May 1 security update.
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/payton/official/
Using it on my Android 1 Edition and it's running very well. The March 1 update had a weird bug where the ZRAM would constantly crash slowing the phone to a crawl, no such issues on the latest update rooted with Magisk.

Hi! Is it possible to convert the reteu model (xt1900-7) to an Android 1 edition?
Thanks
I'm have the Android one edition and I just received the July security patch, if that's the updates your see referring too.
On Android One - Fi's channel (but, current sim is on T-Mobile USA) - got a system update 3 days ago and again another (2nd. one) update last night. Here are the screenshots - check & compare yours
PPW* included some system upgrade, where as the other one was a smaller Android security patch.

This could work. For a while I had run my XT1900-7 (RETEU) with XT1900-1 (RETAIL) ROMs. Everything worked except for Google Pay.

Yes, it is possible, but OTA's will not work. Only fastboot flash full ROM every month will work (if full ROM will be available for download...)
I am getting mental with the Moto X4 xt1900-7 Reteu. What about the updates? I got this phone from Amazon Spain, but I am currentlyin Germany, the phone came with the basic 7.1.1 firmware, and got authomatically updated to 8.0.0, OPW27.2, Security Patch Level: 1 December 2017. I bought this because of the small size, and his compatibility with Lineageos, but I need the Android 9.0 Pie before installing Lineageos (this is stated in Lineagerom webpage). The update never come ...... System Update says "Your Device is Up To Date".... Frustating!!! Do you know if there is a version of Lineageos that I can install fromOreo 8.0? or can I download Android Pie for my Moto somewhere? Sorry, getting totally mental Can anybody help me please?

Solved!!! Maybe someone would be interessed about this, just posting my experience
Lineageos installation instructions say the following: Warning: Before following these instructions please ensure that the device is currently using Android 9 firmware.
My Moto X4 XT1900-7 Reteu didn´t get the Android 9 update (still no idea why), it took me 3 days looking for a way to install the update manually with no success. Then I decided to try install lineage-19.1-20221123-nightly-payton-signed.zip anyway and it worked
The process was totally smooth and extremely fast, everything seems to be working perfectly, but I would like you to know that I didn´t install any Gapps, so I can´t confirm if this could create any problem.
Thank you to XDA and all the contributors, this is a fantastic source of info
