My Note 8 sensors all stopped working. - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

A few days ago, all the sensors all just stopped working Please help!
I tried formatting, wipe caching, safe mode and stuff

If you tried all those things you mention, I think it is time to claim warranty

Someone else can confirm or correct me if I'm wrong, but if you've already tried everything else then I would try flashing stock firmware next. Knox isn't tripped if you download the original firmware for your device (from SamFirm, Sammobile, etc.) and flash it with Odin...just don't flash custom recovery, etc. Something may have become corrupted on your phone, in which case stock fw might fix it (unless it's a hardware issue of course).

knox wont get tripped if you dont flash a custom recovery.
so flashing stock is nit an issue.
you can always use samsung's recovery tool in smart switch app. that way you will be sure to flash the latest and correct build for your phone with out danger.

I will use smart switch instead! I actually use it quite often to back up. Thanks Bober10113!

Smart Switch doesn't support note 8 exynos

ive used it many times. both on N950F and N950N which are exynos.
put your device in download mode via power + vol down + bixby and try again

My phone is having the same issues too. Sadly i dont have warranty so samsung wont do anything about it.

Are u sure that is hardware issue?

Yes it is, Warranty covers it. Something to do with the sensors all not working. It's apart of the motherboard, so they changed the entire thing...
So that means in the future if warranty ends and you still have issues with the sensor you're ****ed since you have to swap the entire motherboard out too. Jesus

But, the good thing is, when you buy legally distributed devices, you can claim warranty!

Hopefully OP tried the *#0*# hardware check first.

Yeah I did. I got my phone back totally working fine now.
But yeah all the sensors before I sent for warranty was at 0. Crazy.

[Q] Can't Root My Phone! Help!!

I have the S3 Mini for Verizon (SM-G730V)
I rooted my phone a while back but my phone updated this month and it automatically unrooted. I tried using Kingo to root it because it had worked previously but I got an error saying "NEEDROOT"
I've been searching for a program ever since, but every one I've tried doesn't work. One even hard reset my phone
Does anyone know a root method that works for my phone??

why not just flash a custom rom with odin? you could try cyanogenmod though the 11 version maybe has hard battery drain. carbon should be fine though! then you also have kitkat 4,4,2

Flashing ROMs thought Odin is inconvenient, I'd prefer to just root the phone for ease of use.
I think I found the source of the problem:
When I was using vRoot, it said that I didn't have 'root permission' and gave me a how-to in order to solve that problem. However it was in Chinese so I couldn't figure it out. Is it possible that I just need to find a way to get root permission for my phone? How do I get permission?

The English version is a little broken, not all of it is in English. I'm talking about the app they have for the phone. I downloaded it and it said it couldn't root my phone (at least that's what I think it said it was all Chinese) and it gave me a list of instructions I couldn't understand. I already tried the English vRoot and it didn't work.
IMHO best way how to root your phone is by flashing custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) via Odin and then by flashing root binaries from recovery.

Can you explain how to do that? Or provide a link that does?
I've updated my previous post. Download some custom recovery and flash it as pda, then reboot into it by pressing vol. up + home + power and finally flash zip with root from recovery.
and after you have custom recovery it's also super easy to flash .zip files with recovery only (not odin) so then you can flash custom roms .zip's

Try using Unified Android Toolkit and simply following the on screen instructions.
I am having the same issue with my wife's phone. Rooted once with Kingo but she accidentally accepted an OTA update and we lost root. Now Kingo just says "Root failed."
Verizon has locked the bootloader on these phones so that it is, AFAIK, not possible at all to flash a custom recovery. I have plenty of experience with CWM and TWRP from my own two previous sammys (Epic 4G and Galaxy S4, both on Sprint). If someone here (with a VZW model) has experience otherwise, I'd love to hear about it and how you got around the lock.
Downloading Unified Android Toolkit now and we'll see how it goes, but it is not looking good.

Well, that lead me nowhere. It comes up with a list of S3 Mini model numbers that does not include Verizon's. On top of that, AVG said one of the executables was infected with a virus (a warning which I bypassed in order to test).
Any other suggestions?

Trying now, but it doesn't look good. It's been stuck on "Testing adb usability" for ten minutes or so.
So I am now noticing that any time I plug this phone in, during the "Found new hardware" for the ADB interface it is telling me that my new hardware "might not work." This does not happen when I plug in my S4. I'm wondering if VZW has done something to block ADB access...
I've backed the phone up with Kies and now I am thinking about a factory reset before trying again. I just don't want to make things any worse, knowing I can't simply Odin the stock image on this phone.
Any other recommendations?

Update: on retry, I got past this spot, but ultimately the root failed and it told me the model was not supported.
Kingo gets further than anything else I've tried, but eventually fails with the error "NeedRoot." Ironically.
I'm going to try a factory reset. I am wondering if the fact that SuperSu is still in ROM is what's tripping Kingo up. I can force stop it and "turn it off" but, of course, without root I can't actually remove it from the ROM.

That sounds plausible, factory reset might help avoid the issue, but if SuperSu is installed as system app (normally the case), it might in some cases still be there after a factory reset.
I'm having the same issues. I have tried with three different cables, using three different programs. Do you think it's because I don't have three original cable I only have moto ones? I can reset using kries so it's not like the computer doesn't see it

[Q] Bricked S6?

I flashed 5.1.1 using via odin 3.10 (no errors etc.) now my phone stuck at Powered by Android screen. I tried to reflash the firmware many times but still the same thing.
Before flashing 5.1.1 my phone was running Looper firmware. I did modify the build.prop (ro.securitystorage = false). Does this cause the issue?
When i get into recovery mode i see this yellow text

Follow these instructions :
1. press: power/home/vol up keys at the same time.
2. Use vol up/down to get to factory reset
2. press pwr button to select
3. maneuver to erase user data, select using pwr button
4. maneuver to erase cache partition, select using pwr button.
4. Reboot

The bootloader has nothing to do with encryption. This doesn't exist.
Is it not this? http://www.droid-life.com/2015/07/27/operating-system-warnings-may-soon-come-to-your-boot-screen/
If it is, your device is fine. It just means your modified the operating system, and Google would like you to know that your data may no longer be safe with a modified system.

Ignore. It's Google-policy. Google is growing and also the distance to the users. They don't like that we will modify the phone to our needs instead of the needs of Google or Telecom providers.

Yes, makes sense. If it bothers you, you could do a clean install....
Yeah plus the new restore feature on M works pretty well with restoring app data (provided you don't cut off your connection during the restore)
My nexus 6 is completely stock and i get that annoying " corrupt " message as well. It is just my bootloader that is unlocked if it's the reason of that message.
edit : i fixed my issue, check here if anyone have corrupt warning with a fully stock system.

When do you see this? Are you able to wipe it in recovery?
I would contact the person that sold it to you, they basically locked it where if it resets, you need their samsung information to unlock the device. Don't think reformatting will do anything, but you can try to reformat via Kies

I did a factory wipe recovery with the buttons pressing combination, however it still ask for the samsung account, and I can't contact the selle.
Thanks
If you can't contact the seller & they sold you a locked phone, maybe try filling a police report. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that considered fraud?
If it's just the reactivation lock though, there's a way around that.

Have you rooted the device. You should be able to wipe the Internal storage. I'd try flashing a CM based ROM.
The device should be usable still. The use probably had reactivation lock turned on that's why the Samsung account has it locked down. Also the phone itself may be stolen. You may want to check the imei if you can view it to see if it had been blacklisted.

Note 4 SM-N910T that keeps getting stuck in a boot loop

So i purchased a Note 4 SM-N910T about a year ago. It worked fine but last month shortly after the 5.1.1 update I did it started randomly restarting for no reason. First i taught it was Snapchat because I red somewhere that there are camera problems, so I stopped using it. But it kept restarting even after that. From then I have made a factory and a master reset, rooted the phone and even installed CM 12. No mater what i do it keeps on restarting. The only way to get it out of the boot loop is to connect it to a charger that is not a fast charger. Then it starts charging and works normally and you can do everything normally. After you remove it from the charger it works as long as you do not use it. When you start using it and want to do something with it it starts restarting again. I hope somebody can help me fix this issue. I have noticed that connecting it to WIFI makes it 100% sure that it will restart any moment. If you leave it without WIFI as long as you do not do anything big it will not restart. For example I watched series on my phone I downloaded beforehand. I was able to go to the CM 12 file manager and change series for the duration of my bus drive and it has not reset yet and it has not been connected to a charger for around 12 hours already.
My last resort is to wait 3 hours for the stupid free 5.0.1 official firmware and flash it using the TWRP Recovery or Odin. If that does not work I would have t give it to a service. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Also a link to where I can download the 5.0.1 official firmware for free in normal speed will be of greatly appreciated as well!
Merry Christmas!
That's odd, I recommend odin flashing the stock ROM and everything. (Modem + bootloader) the latest one is DOK2 for T-Mobile

Do you have a link to where I could download that because all I found were sites where the free user speeds took 3 hours to download 1.5 GB?:crying:
Let me see if I can find one

Here is the full untouched ROM that you can download from Sammobile but it was uploaded to mega instead.

To revive the thread I tried flashing the N910TUVU2DOK2_N910TTMB2DOK2_N910TUVU2DOK2_HOME.tar via Odin. It all went fine and after starting the phone it went on to the step where its optimizing apps. It got stuck there and it went back to the boot loop. I had reflash the CM 12 and TWRP Recovery and now I am back at 0. So my question is how should I flash the stock rom. Go to TWRP do a factory reset than turn the phone off and flash the stock rom via Odin? Should I also flash TWRP ans SuperSu after flashing the stock rom?
Thank you for your help!
I've been having the same problem for about a week and a half; it's super annoying. I was running Dynamic Pop on COG2 then yesterday I updated to DOK2 and flashed Maximum Overdrive... no improvement. It rarely even fully boots before freezing or rebooting.
My best guess as to what the problem is that it may be overheating because it tends to actually boot if I put it in the freezer while booting, but then it freezes soon after taking it out. I suppose it could also be internal memory corruption.
Either way, I'm getting ready to do a warranty exchange.

First focus on getting a clean stock firmware booted. Do what you mentioned above but don't flash TWRP or superSu until the stock ROM is stable. We need to narrow down the issues so do as few modifications as possible.

You may have messed up the partitions. There is a thread about the pit file you should check out.

I actually downloaded 2 stock roms for my Note 4. One was the COG2 and the other one was the completely stock firmware. I tried flashing them but Odin failed (Auth) whatever that means. The only stock rom I was able to flash was 5.1.1 but it wouldn't boot up so I had to install CM 12 again! I have no idea how to fix the phone. All I want is to return to 5.0.1 and delete any changes. The phone has no apps on it so i have nothing to loose but I do not know how to do it..

You cannot use 5.0.1 ROMs on DOK2 they will never boot and no down grading. You have to use 5.1.1 ROMs for now on.

This is exactly what is happening to my T-Mobile Note 4 (SM-N910T) and the thing that you did to your Canadian Note 4 is exactly what I want to do. But can I use the firmware you provided at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/ref-stock-firmware-kernel-modem-recovery-t2920452
or must I use the T-Mobile ones and if I have to use the N910T firmware where can I get it so I can do what you did? A link or a thread would be amazing cause I really miss using my phone as normal!
