Hi, due to multiple problems on Lollipop ROMs on MI3, I finally came back to the latest sMIUI ROM.
I know that the new Kernels can be applied to KitKat ROMs, but is there benefits for it? I mean, will it bring back the 5.x problems like HDR not working, etc?
And more technically, how can those Kernels are finally able to work on both 4.4 and 5.1 now, and not from the beginning?
Thank you in advance.
HDR is now working in custom Roms

Ah, good news! But HDR isn't the reason I left Lollipop, I kept having network and touchscreen problems :
- Impossible to send or receive MMS (no matter what APN or setting I use)
- Impossible to access to some services or update applications data over 3G (couldn't download a file on Google Drive, couldn't see a video on YouTube, couldn'd refresh posts on 9gag...)
- And sometimes, the touchscreen was buggy, it didn't responded well, so I had to lock-unlock the phone a few times before it start working properly
So for now I'll stay on MIUI KitKat, but I would like to tweak it so it will be at its best

Yeah. Welcome. Enjoy flashing
Sorry to hijack the thread, but can someone recommend a good LP kernel that is worth flashing with the new MIUI7 and/or the Xiaomi.eu MIUI rom?

First thing is you cannot use a lp kernel in kitkat rom such as miui and smiui. But you can use custom kernels like GOD'S KERNEL, MOSHI etc. Search the forum.

My power button is loose and I use zeurionx, I think it's compatible with miui and aosp. It has wake gestures dt2w and s2w.

This is a thread I started for people to try and draw attention from Cyanogen to try and get them to build a ROM for our Huawei P8 Lite.
Feel free to add to the thread and show your support.
Please visit this link also. http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/116272-request-cyanogenmod-p8-lite-ale-21/

So I take it due to the lack of interest in this thread that nobody with a P8 Lite wants Cyanogen to build a ROM for our device? Are you really that happy with EMUI? Personally I think the P8 Lite would probably perform much better with Cyanogen if my past experience is anything to go by.

But I feel like this post just got lost under the 6.0 Update news, which is pretty cool btw but I'd still prefer either a Cyanogenmod or Stock android rom. .

It probably did get lost in the euphoria of running 6.0 on our device, but hopefully we will gain enough support for the masters at Cyanogen or perhaps some other great developers to build a ROM for our amazing phone.
Yeah that's true. Yall should really add a +1 to the post in the cyanogen mod forum. That might higher our chances

Sorry for that, but cyanogen is really bad (cm 12, 13).only the @temasek unofficial builds works propely, I mean with all basics function fully working without random reboots.
And the p8 lite never see a cm build.

Even P8 don't have CM, let alone P8 Lite.....and P8 is MUCH more popular.
This a bull****. Never P8 Lite get CM
And I want to know what version of xposed have you successfully flashed, a screenshoot was a great proof
+1 (there is still a little hope as some Kirin-based phones did get CM)

At least we're getting a discussion going and maybe, if we're lucky they might pay attention to their request thread on their own website. I've used CM on previous devices I've owned, and I was pretty happy with the way it functioned.

Hello to everyone!
A couple of days ago a leaked MM beta firmware for the international variant of the SGS5 (G900F) was received as an OTA update by one lucky guy from Ukraine.
Since then he managed to make a TWRP backup and share it with us.
The only problem was that when flashed it would make the phone enter in a bootloop because the Bootloader (BL) was missing.
Also root was harder to achieve since the old methods seemed not to work on this build.
The developer thread for this ROM is located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/samsung-s5-sm-g900f-6-0-1-official-t3311188
To keep it clean from various questions I thought it was a better idea to make this thread for the normal users so we can share low-level informations about that topic without interferring with the devs discussion.
Hope you will join me here in the discussion.
Thank you everyone!
Thanks. People said rude comments about me. I was only curious. Here is better to talk.

Sorry
OK, I must say I'm a little disappointed by what I've seen in that leaked firmware.
At the same time I think that all the good changes are "under the hood".
Doze is OK and I think the UX will be smoother from what I've seen in other MM firmwares from LG and Sony.
Unfortunately the "Themes" engine is missing. It would have been cool to have it.
Anyone knows if in the leaked fw the shoot RAW option is available in the Camera app?
EDIT: the guy who received the update confirms that battery life is better and that the per-app-permission feature is present. So the "under the hood" tweaks exist
Ah very nice. This is a nice thread to discuss things. Does anyone know if a bootloader can be flashed by TWRP or is Odin necessary?
And guys, please stop attacking each other. It gives any thread a negative vibe. I could not care less if anyone finds himself a dev or not.

I have read a post by Tamirda or Geiti this firmware would be excellent base to build a S6 rom. Maybe that would be the true power of this firmware?
I'm disappointed about this update too. Nothing changed except icons :/
I don't understand why they didn't adapt GS6 UI on our GS5. Is just graphical effects, I don't think it's complicated to change xD.
I will try anyway this beta leaked but If the final version won't bring features like GS6 UI or Themes, I'll say bye bye to sammy

The TWRP recovery has the option to backup the BOOT partition so I believe that we can also flash a different boot backup as long as it's compatible with the phone
In the same time the BL is usually included in the single tar file that we use when flashing a stock fw via Odin.
So in the end I think it depends on how the release will be packed: either as flashable zip via TWRP or as a .tar file flashable via Odin.
The important part is that the new BL to be included
I also prefer 6.0 based on st. Not to look like s6

I think it would make an excellent base to build a clean MM firmware for the S5.
I'm staying on stock-based ROMs because I need the camera-quality.
In AOSP builds the camera quality is poorer and there are also some TW-based-goodies missing.
The Themes-engine would have been a nice addition just because we get tired of the same UX and that was a chance for us to change it without flashing custom ROMs or using 3rd party launcher.
But if it's missing it will not be a deal-breaker for me.
I'm looking forward to that Doze feature.
Just imagine how a MM barebone stock-based ROM for the S5 would fly!
Also the battery life would be better.
I have high hopes with this firmware.
With a little patience, tweaks and luck we could expand the life of the SGS5 for another year until the SGS7 will become cheaper.
So now devs can make finally a good kernel for s6/note5 6.01 MM port rom..with the s5 6.01 kernel...
I posted on the official thread by mistake and will ask here. Does this work on G900W8 also? I was able to run pre-release 5.0 last year when it was just for G900F, but that was already bundled into a ROM. I know the devs will be working on getting the code into roms, but was just wondering

Hi, mate! From what I've read the only difference seems to be the bands.
Apart from that the ROMs seem to be compatible except the fact that you can't flash them via Odin.
You need to flash them as .zip from a custom recovery.
So if the ROM will be packed as a flashable .zip file you are in luck
Here is the link to the thread from where I got these informations: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714132&page=3
Hope it helps! Cheers!
Isn't battery optimization the same with Doze mode which we have on the current, latest firmware? Google introduced battery optimization a.k.a. Doze mode on Marshmallow while Samsung had it on Lollipop since Note 4 and rolled out to other devices like the S 5.

Hi, if you are I would like to give it a try. Vodafone have given me a Pralx1 on contract. It certainly has lots of room for improvement as it has the usual bloated system install and isn't anywhere near as fast as it could be. It is slightly choppy through the menus compared to similar spec phones. How have you got round the problem of Huawei not releasing the code? Or have they released it recently?

Thanks for the reply VP. Well to be honest any improvements would be welcome. As I have the 16gb version and the current OS takes up 2/3rds of that space, which is insane. If its even partially debloated I will use what ever modified rom he throws my way. Fairly nice phone so will be keeping it and hoping for more custom roms to be released in the future if Huawei ever pulls there thumb out regarding there policies of sharing that is!
John
Debloating is easy if you have root, it's the optimisation that is a bit tricky. I've tried to use Kernel Aduitor to try and optimise it from there, but unfortunately I haven't found the best possible combination of settings yet.
How I wish we had RR, PA or Lineage ROMs, but I don't think that all the sources will be released.
In the meantime, Root and Viper4Android are there to satisfy me, though I hope we'll have Xposed for Nougat and a custom kernel in lieu of Custom ROMs..
Hi everyone.
I have a OnePlus 3T (obviously) running the original, stock, OxygenOS version 9.0.6
I decided to move on to Android 10, using one of the available custom roms.
My question is, what roms do you recommend? in my previous phones, my go-to rom was Cyanogenmod, which I understand has turned to LineageOS. I looked at Lineage but I understood that the android 10 version of it for the oneplus 3t is experimental, so i'd rather something that is "official".
So, which roms do you recommend, and why?
Thanks in advance
Here you have a list of all ANdroid 10 roms for OP3/3T.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...o-roms-kernels-available-3-t3688139?nocache=1
Each of them can be described as "stable". The main question is which features you value. I like minimalist and very battery friendly roms. Customizing is not so important for me.

I remember an old "rule" about roms, and i'm not sure if this is still true, but it's "you can't have them all".
So i'd say I prefer customizing and, like you said, something that is battery friendly. Which rom do you use?

Yes the old rule is still current.
I use Official crDroid 6.3. It has very good battery life, the most needed customizings and is very stable.
Atention. Android Auto don't work any ROM.

Already I haven't OP3T, but I was using LOS 17.1 and I could use Android Auto. However, I couldn't use my bank app.
I recomend you that you search and read on others ROMs.
I'd like to revive this thread and extend it to Android 11 ROMs. I see there are five in the list that's linked to in the first answer of this thread. Can anyone recommend one, from personal experience? After a terrible time on Lineage 17.1 this summer, I fell back to the official 9.0.6, and I don't want to go through that again with Android 11.
It's annoying to be coming up on a year without support on my OP3t when I'm running Android 10 with the September 2020 security patch on my 2013 Nexus 5. I bought this phone in 2017 because I thought it would continue to be useful long after OnePlus stopped official support, but it hasn't worked out that way.
Any wisdom out there? I don't want to buy a Pixel 5 and throw the 3t in a drawer.
