Doze in Oreo - Moto X4 Questions & Answers

Doze does not work well in Oreo, leaving the unused phone on the table even consumes me battery, how can it be fixed? Already restablcĂ of factory after the February update

This night my phone used 1% battery over 7 hours so I think it's working.

battery depletes in idle mode during night, any fix?

On both stock ROM and CM ROM I'm losing 12 to 15% odd of battery at night while phone is idle, data off, WiFi off etc, nothing major in wake-locks either, was wondering if there's anything to be done? My Note 4 lost about 2 to 4% at night and my iPhone 6 loses about 5%... so the 12 to 15% is just too much I reckon, but am unable to find a solution, any ideas? thanks
How old is your device?
Device is new, I have since I wrote the original post installed Exposed with the Amplify module and adjusted wakelock settings which seems to have helped, down to about 5% during the night which is much more acceptable, thanks.

.337 Update battery drain temporary fix

For those of you experiencing battery drain on the last Nov 15 .337 update. I found a nasty bug which keeps the phone awake for almost all the time even when screen off. I used better battery stats and wakelock detector and found out that "poll-wake-lock'' was keeping my phone awake for hours. This is related to Zenmotion. I tested this theory for two nights after doing a full factory reset with no other apps installed, wifi off, location off. 1st night with Zenmotion on resulted in hours and hours of awake time for my device. The 2nd night with Zenmotion off and guess what, my phone barely woke up during sleep hours. Try disabling zenmotion.
DEAR ASUS DEVS,
I KNOW YOU ARE READING THIS, PLEASE FIX IT SOON AS IT RENDERS ZENMOTION USELESS.

Battery life is worse after Android Pie (9):

Hello!
I've been experiencing worse battery life on my Nokia 8 since Pie upgrade, I haven't installed any apps nor services...
Note that the battery improved -but not as good as Oreo- after calibration using an app...
Are you experiencing the sane issue? Or should I further investigate?
Thank you..
yes
Same here. I got 12 hours screen on time once on oreo but now, it is a dream. Battery drains fastly due to background services. App restriction doesn't work as well as oreo's restriction. So, this situation causes battery draining. Also there is a weird thing i've faced, battery drains quickly from %100 to %95. I am waiting for Maintenance Release impatiently.
is battery life on oreo really that good?
I'm using pie since day 1 and never got more than 7h sot and 1.5 days.
My battery life is dire since pie, I was impressed with the battery in the 8 until this update, I cant even make a day without having to charge. When I say day I mean from 7am to 10pm as its left charging overnight.
Before pie I could quite happily last 2 days between charges, I'm not a heavy user, initially I thought I must be using the phone more. But I'm actually using it less just so it makes it to the end of the day!
Somehow it's worse again today, dead by 4:30!
Basically just checked phone to see the time, around 10 minutes of faffing in the morning, rebooted it before charging last night incase sonething was using battery. Madness!
For me, I've given my phone a factory reset before I installed the Beta labs/initial final(V5.110, December 2018-January 2019) build. Despite that, I did notice my battery life taking a hit when running this iteration of Pie. I was at most getting not more than 5 hours of SoT on average. And I do use my phone a lot throughout the day, the camera, web browsing, videos and social media. Meanwhile on Oreo, I can get 6 hours on average no problem. Sometimes even 7 hours if I'm lucky.
After updating to V5.140(February 2019) with Adaptive Battery brought in, I seem to have gotten back my average SoC just like when my phone was running Oreo. Running 5-6 hours on average. I'm not sure if Adaptive Battery has anything to do with this since I did notice the improvement immediately. I also disabled some of the Evenwell crap before updating to V5.140, so that may or may not have an effect.
If apps restricted didnt work then try manually restrict each app go to ur up hold it then info Then choose battery from there change background restriction
Ifaced this problem in beta when iwas sleep and wake up morning my battery was almost below 20 percent but i manually restrict all apps and its working 100 percent ?
Sorry to heat that. Have you tried installing some apps like better battery stats to see what exactly is saying up your battery? If your phone is rooted consider installing ForceDoze from f-droid and maybe WakeBlock to regulate some wakelocks that may be the cause of your terrible battery life. I have been able to get great battery life using the latest put version. See screenshot below from a few days ago.
I know that this is old thread but i have solution which i use with my nokia. change default launcher to another lightweight. This works and my battery feel better.
I should of updated, battery went back to normal after newer updates.
However, biggest thing for me, using DNS666 Ad blocker has seemingly doubled my battery life, might be a combination of just gotten bored of the phone or blocking all the ad's saves battery, or a bit of both, its also made the phone feel a lot more responsive overall, i'm using Squarehome as my launcher so maybe that was affecting the battery before?
Maybe which update can fix battery life? I rooted my phone and can't download latest update.

[HELP] Battery Standby Drain (over night) 2% per hour - No wake locks - incl. GSam

Hello. I need some help with my new (like 3 weeks old) P20 Pro (single sim, no root).
I'm really happy with this phone now except for one thing. That thing is Standby drain.
I lose like 1-2% PER HOUR over night, doing nothing.
I left my phone last night on 25% and went to sleep.
Next morning, 7 hours later I was on 13%, losing almost 2% per hour.
In my opinion, that's just too much for doing nothing on the phone.
I'm not an expert reading those battery stats, but I dont actually see a problem.
There are no wake locks and the only apps that use the battery are Android-System, Kernel (Android OS) and Google Play-Services.
Huawei Health and Google Play-Services used the Sensor time a lot, but I don't know if the sensor time is important for the battery.
If you have a solution, please give me an advice.
My dad gets the same phone next week and I wanna get it done untill he gets the phone, so I can do the same.
Things I've done:
- wiped cache
- reverted to factory settings via standard recovery
- debloated (like 15-20 apps)

Big thanks.
Trust me, you're experiencing the same thing I have been for the last 6 months. It takes around 3 weeks or so for the phone to learn how you use the battery and from what people have told me on XDA, Reddit and Telegram, this battery drain is "normal" which I still don't believe. I had a Redmi Note 5 Pro before this phone and it probably drained only 2% overnight over 7 hours and I could hit SOT of near 11 hours on a single charge so idk what Huawei has done with the battery optimization of this phone as my Note 5 Pro also had a 4000mAh battery like this phone.
All you can do is continue using the phone and hope it stops soon or maybe think about replacing it with a better phone

Battery drain. Help

Hey. just bought LG V40. i have a problem, getting serious battery drain issue, in a hour about 2-3%, overnight 15-25%. tried factory data reset, airplane mode, battery saver, disabled unnecessary apps and AOD... but nothing helped. if i turn off phone, there is no drain (maybe). What i must do? It's verizon, sceen set to Full HD, no auto brightness, Android 9.0 pie, on March security updates
Battery life health via Accubattery and Antutu app is 75%, but phone works even when 2-3%, and using time is normal
Also have one problem, there is no write fast charge, it works only if i turn off phone and then charge or charge and restart phone
