Car mount suggestions.... - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Accessories

Im on the serach for a car mount for the note 8. I'm trying to avoid a mount that will only mount to the windshield. I've seen a few different styles that either clip to the vents, and even one that inserts to the CD slot and doesn't utilize a suction cup. Just looking for suggestions. TIA

Appreciate it. I don't mind spending the money if it is solid. I assume you have one? I'm just curious how the base attaches. It says it fits between the seams of your dash. Trying to envision this.

I can't recommend the iotttie brand enough I've had mine for a year and it's still rock solid. It's a dash or window mount. I have mine on my dash. I recently had to remove it temporarily and it left zero marks/residue on my dashboard.

I just ordered the below 3 products for my Note 8. I have used Rock products in past and I found them quite satisfactory.

Yes, I have them in 3 cars. I use the base that's specific for my car and screw a Kenu Airframe+ in it. Works very well and is out of my view of the road. Very solid and never wobbles.

I generally use Brodit car specific mounting platforms, and have recently got a generic QI cradle which charges wirelessly while it's sat in the car. You can't go wrong with Brodit - they provide a solid platform without damaging the car's interior.

über car dock setup Note II/Note 3

This is not a cheap setup, but nothing über ever is though, is it. This is a very solid setup with no wobble and provides close arms reach access to your device. In my car it's not exactly line of sight but other vehicles might have closer mounts. I've never been a fan of windshield mounts as they bounce around too much, can be out of reach in some vehicles, results in cables running all over the place, and in hot states like FL can result in the phone overheating.
Parts Needed
ProClip mount for your vehicle - $30
ProClip mount for the Note II or Note 3 - $35 ~ $90
(Optional) ProClip Dash Express GPS - Device Mounting Adapter - $25
Process
Attach the ProClip mount to your car
Attach the female quick release to the mount
Attach the male quick release to the tilt swivel adapter
Connect quick releases together
The quick release is optional, you can connect the stock tilt swivel directly to your car mount without it. I have several other devices I place there though so by having the quick release on all my devices it makes swapping them out very simple. You can buy extra individual male adapters for extra devices you own (GPS, car diagnostics, other phones/tablets, etc).
My pictures below show;

I'm not a fan of the windshield mounts because here in Florida the sun gets too hot any time of the year. I've experienced too many phones having heat issues because the bake in the sun.
It does look, sound and COST like an uber car dock mount But wouldn't it be easier instead of spending $100-$140 on ProClip setup that might only work with a specific smartphone footprint and not even every case or extended battery, to buy something like Arkon slim grip ultra (http://www.arkon.com/Slim-Grip Ultra/index.html) for $20-$30 depending on mounting option (and I actually reviewed a lot of car mounts on XDA, including SGU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174449) and make it a universal setup for any smartphone from old iphone to the biggest phablet or Nexus 7 or iPad Mini? I recently tested their SM679 model with a ridiculously sticky suction base, and if I would have [email protected] I would even install one of their permanent rail mounts in my Lex lol!!!
Btw, I also just got their new Mobile Grip 2 (http://www.arkon.com/mobile-grip/) and that one is sick! Sorry, didn't mean to sound like a broken record advertisement lol!!! , but since I on a road 2hr a day using my Note 2 as Nav, the car mount is important for me especially going through swiss cheese pot hole Jersey roads. I didn't test ProClip, but as you can see from my reviews in sig link, I tested and reviewed all the major car mounts. And still, I keep coming back to Slim Grip Ultra, though might have to switch to Mobile Grip 2 now to use my Note 2 as dash cam.
ProClip makes universal holders too. You can also attach any mount type that has an AMPs interface too. Like I mentioned too, window or vent mounts don't work well in hot and humid states. I also think they look fairly tacky and don't want them in my car.

Car Mount for the LG G2 - Any recommendations?

I want something that can adjust both up and down and left to right. I saw the SCS-270 for Verizon but I have the Sprint version of the LG G2. I know the Verizon size is a bit bigger because of the wireless charging so will the SCS-270 work on Sprint?
UPDATE: I went with this one and it is AMAZING! Extremely sturdy and a perfect fit! $10 shipped!

I'm not sure if the fits your needs ideal, but I have been using it and couldn't be happier. It's stable, sturdy, and simple. It fits my G2 with a fat case on it and also my girlfriends old iPhone and current HTC one. I recommend it.

I use this one, it is very easy to put the phone in the mount but be aware if you have a bigger case it may not fit well.
I had to cut the spring down a little and stretch it because it was too tight for my liking and I use a thin Nillkin case (very nice btw).
I do really like it though because it is so easy to put in the mount. :good:
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I found some on eBay that are custom fit for only $10 shipped. I'll post the results when it arrives.

Check out this seller. I will have mine on Saturday so I can't speak for the quality till then but these are exact fits, cheap and shipped from the US.

Keep watch on slickdeals.net for the iOttie. It's meant for iPhones, but my phone fits fine. ~$10 is a good price for it.
Like other mounts, it secures the phone confidently, but I chose the iOttie because it has a very sticky suction cup. I've got a leather dash, with tons of little ridges and bumps, and my mount has adhered without dislodging for the last month. It's doesn't use a glue-like adhesive. You can reuse it if you run the cup under warm water, and it sticks like new.
They make the iOttie in XL, but it's a few bucks more.
Just hit up Amazon for reviews and pics.
Just my 2 cents... If you have a case on the phone... The best thing I've found is the imagnet mount on amazon.

I gave up getting phone specific car mounts. My Epic 4G custom mount was useless with my EVO 4G. So I got a custom EVO 4G car mount. Wich was useless when I switched to Verizon and got a Bionic with the custom car mount. All so I could put the phone into car mode. When I got the G2 I said screw a custom car mount. Bought the iOttie flex 2 and and Damn happy with it. The iOttie flex 3 is even better. No it doesn't put my G2 into car mode. But I'm over it. Just got a lumia 1520 and it fits my flex 2 just fine. That's just my opinion after 15+ phones over 15 years

Does this mount fit non-Verizon variants?
No idea if none VZW G2's fit in the VZW Car mount. I guess you could always go to your local VZW store and ask to try out the car mount.
I orded this Mountek nGroove CD slot mount off Amazon and I love it. My dashboard mounts always fall off, especially harrowing on a long road trip (not to mention, potentially damaging my phone). But I'm very happy with this slot mount. You put it in your CD slot (and yes, you can have a CD in there), tighten the wing so it keeps the slot inserted tightly, place the phone in the mount, and close the arms. It's secure and easy for me to see. It blocks my Sonata's clock, so if I need the time, I have to look at the tiny print on my phone.
This is the link to the mount on their official site: http://www.mountek.com/shop/cell-ph...al-cd-slot-mount-cell-phones-and-gps-devices/

I purchased the Mountek Snap so I could mount any device. The magnet is thin enough to fit inside the case when you snap off the back.
I use the LG wireless charging car dock. Verizon though, I guess it would be useless if you don't have wireless charger.

Car dock for HTC One M8 - which one do you use?

Hi,
I saw HTC has an official car dock for the device, the item is called "D190".
I tried to attach links to a video of this product and to the store so you can see it, but apparently the forum does not allow to use outside links if you don't have certain amount of posts
You can search google for "HTC D190" and find it.
It is pretty expensive, and might be a problem to use with a case or even a glass protective shield..
Which car dock do you use for your device?
Thanks,
Sagi

I'm using the official car dock. I have a Nilkin screen guard (not glass)
Not faced any problems so far.. But yes cant use the dock with the case.
the goo part is I got a 2A car charger with the dock which charges the phone pretty fast
Hi x017in, thank you for your answer.
do you know what is the thickness of your Nilkin screen guard?
I use 0.33mm Glass-M shield.
I too am looking for a car dock. I've not getting the official one as its too expensive and I'm not taking my phone out of the case every time I go for a drive. I've seen this one on Amazon UK. Anyone used it? Looks like it would do the job.

I'm loving the Mountek nGroove Snap 2. It mounts in to your slot CD player (I never use it anyway). Extremely quick and easy set up, very sturdy, minimal design, access to all ports/buttons and doesn't obstruct your view at all. In my FR-S, the slot mounted CD player is near the top, so it's directly in eyesight.
Works very well with the magnetic blade (two included) attached directly to the back of a case or inside of it (not attached in any way on the latter). And, FYI, the blade does not interfere with any signals (GPS, mobile data, wifi, etc).
Highly recommend if you never/rarely use your slot mounted CD player. There is also a "Grip" version, which also occupies the CD slot, but uses no magnets. It's a lock grip-type mount, like others have posted. It's also bulkier, but a good option if you don't want to deal with any magnets.

I am working on a new smartphone holder which will be ready by next month. This smartphone holder can hold the Note 5 with a Mophie battery case for the Note 5 along with hold an iPad as well. This smartphone holder will not shake while you drive nor rattle (unlike others on the market). The length of it also allows you to have it at your finger tips within finger reaching distance of your steering wheel so that both hands are always on the steering wheel at all times. Brings smartphone closer up as well so you can hear others and others can hear you as well. Much better then the plastic iOttie ones that iOttie makes. You can place it to the left side of your front windshield so it sits to the left of your steering wheel with a battery case hooked up to it so your battery remains charged at all times.

I bought a Koomus CD player car mount. It fits in the cd loader, and still plays whatever CD you have inside. I also bought the Air vent version, but the note 5 is just to big for it to be used, I've been able to test them on a brand new 2015 Toyota corolla and a 2004 Toyota corolla. It's not the best solution, but it works for me. No longer have to look down at phone while driving. I drive manual transmission and this was a huge help. I can watch twitch, football games on espn, nfl mobile, youtube etc

I had purchased a $25 + sales tax car mount universal holder that fit into the drinkholder in my car... however after a few weeks my phone started falling out of the dang thing and ended up on the floor under my feet.... & when driving obviously it's not a great idea to attempt to retrieve it. Car Mounts?

Does anyone know of any current or upcoming car mounts that would be good for this phone?
I currently use this one for my Note 4 and it OK at best. The phone is too heavy for it so it falls off my air vents from time to time (or swings off if I turn to fast lol).
https://www.amazon.com/WizGear-Universal-Swift-Snap-Technology-Smartphones/dp/B00PGJWYJ0/
Would rather not use this for the Note 8 as I know the glass is more fragile.

I would highly recommend any one of the osomounts from Amazon. I have owned one myself for around four years and it's so strong, it requires a good amount of force to pull of the glass, really good mount.
Will be waiting a little bit more before getting a car mount but I might use the WizGear mount

I am always a bit worried about these kinds of car mounts as I've seen the horror stories of them leaving marks or taking off chunks of the dash material. Do you mount yours on the window or dash?
Oh this would actually work well for my SO's bmw. Ty!

Been using the same one for years.
Best one with one exception

The connection between the phone and mount were great, even with the battery pack on it. However between the car and mount wasn't great, so I added sugru and now its the best one i ever had.
Any good fast wireless charging vent mounts out there? Not looking for the magnetic ones, just a nice small simple one with grips on the side that a Note 8 will fit in.

I am looking for one too. The metal plate will prevent wireless charging to work. I will certainly let you know when I find one.
There is only one car mount anyone should ever buy, and that's the Craigsdocks mount:

Pay the money for it once and you'll never need to buy another! I hated the thought of universal docks until I tried this thing out. Owner is super nice, will reply to your questions with personalized videos if necessary, and this thing just works better than anything else on the market - trust me, I drive for a living, I'm in the car between 30-50K miles a year. I know what works and what doesn't!

I live down 15 miles of real bad dirt road, and have been using these for 6 months now. Not once has my phone fallen off.

To me, the best mount is the Pro Clip. You need two pieces, the vehicle specific mount and the phone holder. I use a large universal since I change phones a lot.
CD mount with Qi charging
I ordered this from eBay. I will take the gamble for $12.59. CD mount with Qi charging.

I have recently bought the magnetic mount by Spigen. It allows me to adjust my Galaxy Note 8 in any direction with its 360 degree adjustable nature. Using this mount is proved very comfortable for me. Hence, I recommend it to you also.
