Has anyone ever attempted to get VoLTE to work on Droid 4? The software should all be there in recent builds of LineageOS - I'm running 14.1. There is a "VoLTE Provisioned" flag in the secret Phone Info menu, and my carrier supports it and has enabled it on my account -- but it doesn't show up in that flag and there's no "Advanced Calling" menu anywhere that should be associated with this capability. I don't know at what level this has to be implemented, so if it's more than just software and the capability just doesn't exist in Droid 4's hardware then I can live with that. But I've never been able to get a definitive answer at an adequately-technical level to make me stop asking about it.

Under settings ..security there is a setting for cryptographic mode .What's this for and should I enable it on Droid Turbo thanx
FIPS compliance is important for devices that will be used by government agencies and other groups that will do business with them. It limits the phone to using specially approved cryptography and disables any non-government approved options. Since FIPS has a more restrictive set of requirements than base Android, it has the potential to break compatibility with various things. I wouldn't turn it on unless you have a specific requirement to do so.
I know I'm late on this and I'll probably never get a response, but... - FIPS cryptography is currently enabled on my Quark, and there doesn't seem to be a way to disable it. Maybe this could be an Android 6 thing? I haven't got any clues and would like to disable it.
Also, no, I've never manually enabled it & it's been factory reset before.

I recently retired my son's Galaxy Tab 2 (7") for a new SM-710 (updated OTA to 5.1.1). The old Tab 2 (running CM12) was setup in multi-user mode with him as a restricted user. It worked great - I could limit his access on an app by app basis, his data didn't cross-over into my data, he could log into services with his own account etc etc.
So I had intended to setup his new SM-710 the same way - me as the primary user, him as a restricted user. One HUGE problem - the Samsung (TouchWiz) version of Lollipop seems to be missing a critical menu item that is present on stock Lollipop devices. I can't find the "add users from lockscreen" option in the USER settings. On stock devices there is a menu button (top right) where this option is located. It is usually defaulted to unchecked, however on the Samsung version, the device behaves as if the option is checked, and yet there is no menu item to uncheck. This results in both the "GUEST" and "ADD USER" items appearing in the multi-user lockscreen menu when the device is locked. This is a problem for a multitude of reasons. My son could simply create a new user from the lockscreen and use that account to bypass all the restrictions I have placed on his account. Moreover, anyone else could do the same thing, making it impossible to secure the device.
I have tried a few fixes that I found here and elsewhere. All of them required me to root the device, none of them worked (build.prop edits, sql db edits etc). Happy to describe in detail what I tried, but didn't want to make the post any longer that it had to be). Has no one else noticed this problem/error/bug? Am I missing something obvious?
Any help / insight would be appreciated.
Have a look at Samsungs' "Kids Mode", available in the Galaxy Apps store. It is supposed to be their solution for handing your tablet or phone to your children. It requires a pin code to leave the Kids Mode. However, I suspect it is targeted at rather youngish kids.
My T815, which is still at 5.0.2, doesn't even have the options you describe. I'm a bit annoyed that Samsung has spent time disabling features that just come for free from Google.
The build.prop edit should have worked according to other threads. I'm not rooted, so I can't tell.
Has anyone tried to enable VoLTE on the XT1096?...Possibly by using files from the Droid Turbo 2 or Nexus 6?
Motorola supposedly removed VoLTE support from the LP and MM updates. I feel like we should be able to come up with the necessary files to enable this feature and use this phone as it was intended (with simultaneous voice & data)...assuming the phone contains the necessary hardware.
Edit:
So I managed to enable advanced calling in the settings menu - unfortunately it just force closes for now... see screenshots
On Verizon I believe you have to enable HD Voice in your account settings to be able to use VoLTE and WiFi Calling, but Verizon won't let you enable it unless the device on that line officially supports it. The Moto X 14 isn't marked as compatible, so VoLTE and WiFi Calling are impossible.

I see Verizon now has VoLTE service for its prepaid customers as well, have you figured out a way to enable HD calling on the XT1096?
Hi All,
WiFi Calling..... / what is it ??
Is it based and driven on specific hardware (ie: must meet a certain spec / certain chips)
Is it based on network config (ie: like MMS Picture Messaging for all old people) settings to be added?
Is it based on specific modified files, signed by a Network Provider...?
Basically, is this possible / doable on our aging Note? I was having a discussion with a friend who has it on a top flag device. And I basically said its rolled out to high end devices to make them more appealing to customers. I'm fairly certain it doesnt require high-end equipment to make the feature work, and assumed its just some settings that pushed/applied to your network settings. Much in the same way we used to have MMS enabled via a Text Config file, to merge into phones OS settings.
However, bit of a Google-squoogling around, I noticed others talking about it on XDA, saying it requires pre-made/modified FILES that are signed by likes of T-Mobile in order to get the feature working.
So I was wondering, can this be acheived via a patch to the OS, beit file based or via a Module (Xposed) as I also remember reading that CM / Cyanogen promised this feature live in CM13 builds...
.... answers on the back of a postcard please!!!
Cheers, Lister
Hi All,
Ok, quick update... I've just found WiFi calling is already baked into our ROMs (as CM had promised). Searching for it under the network settings, it doesnt appear to show up. However if you search (maginfiying glass) with the word "Calling" it then shows up. It's disabled by default, when you enable it though nothing appears to happen. If you come out of Settings and back in, it's disabled again.
Does this mean its BORKED and broken via Cyanogen and they never got it working in the first place? Or its only intended for certain phones to pickup these settings. Or it depends on certain hardware chipsets??
Cheers, Lister
Hi All,
Just found out it depends on certain ISP settings...
So it does appear to work, just not who I'm with...

So I've seen plenty of discussion on features that the carrier variants support (if used on the same carrier) that the unlocked version does not.
What features (if any) does the unlocked version have that the carrier variants do not? From what I've read, it seems to be the following, but I cannot confirm:
-Built-in Caller ID removed
-No mobile data toggle button from notification area
-Some LTE bands masked out (this is based on some page I read somewhere, but I can't actually confirm)
Are there any other features disabled in the carrier variants? I have an unlocked S10+ and using it on TMobile. I would like to know what I will lose by flashing the TMobile firmware on it.
Verizon removes Samsung Cloud, They have for at least a few years now, as they have their own cloud option. Not sure about Tmobile tho.
I'm on an AT&T variant of S10. The mobile data toggle is hidden and can be revealed through ABD (there's a thread somewhere that shows how really well. Google search "Mobile data tile ADB" and it should be the first one). The thing I noticed when I have the tile back and use it to turn off my data, I get a notification saying some things won't work and I have to hit Turn Off again.
T-Mobile Germany only adds an installer that offers you to install their apps/partnered apps. Everything else is stock, no strings attached.
