does snapchat work on magisk currently? - Magisk

after using snapchat for a while on rooted devices this is the first time that ive run into this issue of not being able to login. i honestly thought it was a password issue at first, which sucks because now i cant load my titanium backup of snapchat. so i disabled root on slimbean (which comes pre rooted) and installed magisk, after which im still not able to login. so i just want to know if magisk can still work to login to snapchat at this point.

i just ended up installing carbon roms and logging in before i installed magisk and will just backup to titanium. that seems like the best method to make sure it continues to work

Log in snapchat before rooting your phone and everything will be working fine

Can't login to Snapchat? Solved!

Hi everyone!
If you are using a Custom ROM such as CyanogenMod, and are trying to login to Snapchat, you may encounter this error:
"Oh no! Your login temporarily failed, so please try again later. If your login continues to fail, please visit support.snapchat.com/a/failed-login".
The reason why Snapchat won't let you login is because your device has root access, or Xposed Framework installed! Yes! You heard right! Snapchat now blocks devices with root access and Xposed installed!
SOLUTION 1: (CyanogenMod Only)
1. Go into "Settings" and find "Developer Options".
2. Then find "Root Access" and change it to "Disabled".
3. Now attempt to login to Snapchat!
4. Now, if your login was successful, you can now re-enable "Root Access" in "Developer Options".
5. Done!
NOTE: There seems to be a problem with Snapchat force closing on Marshmallow/CM13 Based ROM's, so if this happens to you, I'm sorry I do not know how to fix this, as far as I know, there is no fix for this issue.
SOLUTION 2:
1. Download Xposed Uninstaller.zip from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
2. Boot your phone into recovery and flash the Xposed Uninstaller.zip
3. Reboot your phone
4. Done!
NOTE: Once you login to Snapchat, you can reinstall Xposed Framework and everything will work fine.
If you have any problems, please contact me and I will attempt to help you. Thanks everyone!
I can't find root access in my developer options
Hi Uzayr, Are you using CyanogenMod?
Yeah... It keeps force closing... I'm using a rom based on CM13... Is there any way to fix this. I log in, but it force closes itself after I open the app
This seems to be a known problem with Marshmallow/CM13, So as far as I know there is no fix available.

Try using RootCloak
Hey! I have one problem with Snapchat, but I think I've found something that could help to fix it. As many people have noticed in other posts, Snapchat in CM13 based ROMs has FCs, but last night when I powered off WiFi and network conection Snapchat worked and then, when I powered on WIFI and network again, the FCs reappeared. Could it be this relevant to finding a solution? Can it have something to do with the bug of the camera? It happens every time I power off WIFI and network on my phone. Thanks!
Problem still there

Yeah me too ! I have uninstalled the Xposed Framework and also the Root Access but nothing happens ! Still the same problem !
Make sure Xposed Framework is completely uninstalled, then uninstall Snapchat, make sure that you do not have SuperSU installed, reboot your device and reinstall Snapchat and see if that works, thanks.
Tried everything....
Ok so. I have an SM-G930FD (international GS7 exynos), with a custom ROM installed effectively making my phone a SM-N930F (or whatever the code is for Note 7 is) or in other words, it's a ROM that ports all the features of the Note 7 including the model number.
Ever since I installed this ROM I've been trying all sorts of things to bypass the Snapchat log in detection.
I first tried RootCloak.... It didn't work. So then I went on to research and found that Xposed may be the culprit. So, I uninstalled Xposed framework.... that too didn't work. Then I thought maybe it's the presence of the Xposed app on my phone..... Still "log in temporarily failed" .....
Finally, I uninstalled Root and the Super SU app..... and guess what.... it still doesn't work....
I even tried switching between the Standard Snapchat App and the Beta Snapchat App.... Still, doesn't work. :crying:
Is there any other way to make snapchat log in work without having to install the stock ROM for my phone? If there's nothing else, ill just assume its the ROM that triggers Snapchats log in protection.

Have you made sure that XposedBridge.jar under /system/framework/ has been deleted? And make sure all files are also deleted from /sdcard/Android/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/files.

Okay my problem is solved thanks to @Lewdog45

I have a solution, it may be a big process but if you are the only person who use's Snapchat on your device then what you can do is:
1. Uninstall root access on your device
2. Log into Snapchat with your normal account (You should be able to log in once you have removed root access)
3. Once you have logged in on Snapchat, you can Re-root your device, and reinstall Xposed Framework if you wanted
VERY IMPORTANT!
If you log out of Snapchat at anytime while you have root access and Xposed installed, you will have to repeat this process.
And he said about unrooting:
Steps:
1. Open SuperSu
2. Navigate to the "Settings" tab
3. Find the "Cleanup" tab
4. Then click on "Full unroot"
5. Done!
VERY IMPORTANT!
If your device says that it's uninstalling root access for more than 10 minutes, try rebooting your device.
After signing in to snapchat you can re root your phone agian and install xposed without any problem
If this helped please thank him and you can contact him on skype "lewdog45" if the problem still presist.
Hi everyone. I'm trying to run snapchat @CM13. If i disable camera permissions it logs in without problems, but every time i enable the camera Snapchat get force closed. Any idea? This happends with or without root anable

Downgrade snapchat..Who can help? went full retard.

I was using snapchat 9.2.0.0 on snapprefs 1.4.0. All was working fine..untill..I updated snapchat by accident last week.
That's of course when Snapprefs stopped working. So I uninstalled the updated snapchat, and tried to reinstall the 9.2.0.0 but it won't allow me to login because it's an old version blablabla....
And now since I logged out of Snapchat, I also can't login in the new version. I guess because my OPO is rooted...? However I can still login in Casper.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or just throw it in front of a truck.
Thanks

It is not because your device is rooted, but Snapchat looking for Xposed. If Xposed is installed, Snapchat refuses to log in. You might find a workaround if you search for "Snapchat Xposed" here on XDA.
Thanks, I can login again! Now i'll have to find a way to downgrade again.

Install titanium backup
Backup all xposed apps that u use with it (app+data)
Unistal xposed (flashing, im not sure if u need to unistall the app)
After that...
Download the newest snapchat version
Login in with the newest snapchat version
Backup the data of this new snapchat version
Unistal the new snapchat version
Instal the latest snapchat version the works with the snap pref, (v9.21.1.0) u can find it easy to download
Restore the data with the titanium backup
Now your snapchat works
Then...
Install the xposed again
Restore app+data of all your xposed apps
done.
Worked! Thanks.

Xposed and Snapchat?

Has anyone been able to get Xposed and Snapchat to work together? Rootcloak appears to be defunct and I haven't had any luck with ANRC. I found a module called surrogate that looks like it may be able to do it but I haven't the technical knowledge to use it.
Has anyone gotten it to work?

Yes I'm using xposed and snapchat it is possible.
I don't remember which version that was, but snapchat added something to prevent any user to login if xposed is installed, but there is a workaround!
First of all if you are going to logout often you might want to download Titanium backup ;p
1- uninstall completely xposed by flashing the correct uninstaller.zip (xposed app doesn't need to be uninstalled)
2- once xposed is uninstalled and your phone rebooted, login into snapchat you shouldn't get any errors
****
(Facultative trick, pretty useful if you encounter any problems or if you are going to logout of snapchat)
2.1- once you are logged in into snapchat, open Titanium backup and make a backup of snapchat app and data
***
3- when you are logged in into snapchat you can reboot in recovery and flash xposed framework again
If after reflashing xposed framework, you are somehow logged out, and you did make a backup with TB, you don't need to uninstall xposed again, just restore the data from your snapchat backup and there you go !
If you have multiple accounts I recommend you to use Titanium backup, make a backup for each account you have and when you want to change account restore the data of the account you want to use.
(Simplest way would be to use Parallel Space from Play store to allow you multiple snapchat account )
Hope this helps, if you have any questions just ask.
If this helped you a thanks is appreciated ^^

did this work?
I've been banned as well for 12 hours.
For years (since 2014) I've had no problem with Snapchat, Xposed, and root. Even up to Oreo. Across devices and ROMs I just always restored Snapchat's data and all was good. Backing up whenever I updated to keep in line with Snapprefs module. Never logged out and never had to log in.
As of a couple of months ago Snap logged me out of all of my installations. Given that I multiboot on three devices that's over a dozen ROMs (addict that I am). Tried removing everything, reinstall, and restore data. Doesn't work. Just keep getting logged out.
Don't have a clue what my login is from so long ago. Didn't use it much anyway so called it quits. Still, a bummer.

Bank app detecting root or modified system

I'm trying to use this app: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=br.com.banrisul
I've added to the hiding list and enable core only mode, it still closes at startup after saying my phone is either root or running a modified system. I've tested with rootbeercheck and it doesn't detect root in any of its tests.

No issues opening the app here... That means Magisk is perfectly capable of hiding from it, but you might have something else in your setup that triggers it.

but what exactly would trigger it? The link talks mostly about methods to hide magisk, I didn't find anything about what to do if magisk is working but the check fails. I've uninstalled titaniumbackup and rootbrowser. I've disable adb and developer options, I've deleted any folder or downloaded file related to magisk or those apps.
I'm running lineageos, would that be it? How would I go about it?
Could be any number of things... Your ROM might be one of them (more details about that?). It's pretty much impossible for me to do anything else but make educated guesses. The only thing I can say with relative certainty is that it shouldn't have anything to do with Magisk (since I can hide from the app just fine when testing).
You do pass SafetyNet, right? Could be that this is one of those apps that actually use SN.

It passes both checks.
I am running lineage OS 14.1 (Android 7.1.2) on a moto g4.
My main guess is that it's detecting something about your ROM. LOS is well known enough for apps to look for certain properties of it.

Yes, after searching around a bit more I found about why. I completely forgot that I had flashed supersu on my phone before flashing magisk. So I guess that's what the app was freaking out about. So I flashed a supersu removal and reflashed my ROM, now the app is working normally
Thanks for the help!

Xposed Framework Question

Hi,
At times like this I really wish that I knew more about android than I do, but then again that's part of the reason there are site's like reddit. What I'm trying to do is use the sudohide app to solve the issue I've been having as far as keeping it from trying to update itself and becoming enabled again. For my youtube stuff I use the vanced app which at least for me better than the real youtube app. When I open up the sudohide app I receive a prompt that says xposed framework is not installed. Does my lg v30 phone have to be rooted to be able to use the sudohide app? If so I really need to get it rooted, of course if it's rooted I can probably just get rid of youtube anyway.
Thanks

Sudohide is an (ed)xposed module, which needs root to run in the first place, so you need to unlock your device unless you haven't done so already (it will wipe all your data, backup first), flash TWRP which replaces your stock "recovery" program which is originally used to do factory resets etc, but twrp can do much more. Then flash magisk in twrp, your phone is now rooted, now you can install riru core (dependency for edxposed) and edxposed framework systemlessly, writing directly to system will definitely break safetynet, which is why this is the popular way of rooting these days. Some tinkering around is needed to keep safetynet passing (otherwise you'll lose access to some banking apps, some games, netflix will work, but you can't install it from play store). Just rooting lets you access all the read-only partitions and install magisk modules that take advantage of that, xposed lets you mess with the behavior of user/system apps.
Hi zipsu,
Of course thanks so much for your feedback, and as silly as it might sound..all I have to do now is work up my courage and attempt to root my lg v30 phone. I know that a lot of user's say that it's actually pretty simple, but I think they have more knowledge about android that I currently have. It probably doesn't matter but I'm currently running android version 9.0 on my phone.
