Is dual boot patcher damage my mobile? - Xiaomi Redmi 4X Questions & Answers

Is dual boot patcher.. Slow down my mobile???
Is dual patcher.. Is safe for device?!!??
Any issu???

It's safe and won't harm device. But be careful as at times, you may do something wrong which may lead to Bricked device. Will not recommend using dual boot patcher... and also it's available for Nougat only. No oreo support

Dual boot means two ROM at a same time. System will ask which ROM to boot at Startup.

[RECOVERY] Boot Menu Manager[APP]

ALL OF THIS WORK IS DONE BY whirleyes! PLEASE CREDIT HIM AND NOT I. LINK OF HIS THREAD IS BELOW!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2005187
Same exact thing , compatible with the Droid 4 and tested out on my Droid 4 and works fine. All I did was uninstall safestrap and simply install this app from playstore
Playstore link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.projectlense.bootmenu.manager&hl=en
As usual I'm not responsible nor the developer of the app is responsible for any damaged to your device.
What is Boot Menu Manager?
Well boot menu manager is practically a custom recovery (not going over the system recovery) that launches a screen at each boot asking for rom you want to boot. There are 6 slots and you can edit the system slot, although please remember when entering the recovery, do switch to rom slot 1 if you don't want to mess with system, if you don't you'll edit your stock system.
As this recovery is discontinued, it does support 4.3 and other Roms. I haven't go to mess around with all the apps but it works just fine. Sometimes by entering the recovery there is a slight delay. The Recovery seems to optimize kexec better and handle Roms a bit better, but that's just in my experience.

Sorry to dig up old threads, but Safestrap will not work for me. My phone gets stuck at a certain point in the install (60/100) and then just hangs.
I was told that this might be an alternative method to get a Custom ROM on my Droid 4.
Is there a version out there of BMM that I can use?

Yeah, I do. I found BMM 0.3.4 and installed that. I managed to get a good updater-script to allow my ROM to be flashed onto my Motorola Droid 4 in System 1.
Is there another version I should be using? It was tough to find v0.3.4.
Unfortunately, I am still experiencing a lot of lagging and slow response from my ROM. Is this common with BMM? Is there anything I can do to optimize the ROM? Should I install my ROM somewhere other than System 1?
@joefuf
Eee, System 1 is on top-right?
If it is top-left, you probably delete stock rom (if u install CM or other ROM)

System 1 is top-left. I know that I deleted the Stock ROM. It's running fine and reboots into System 1 fine. The ROM just runs very slow. Do you know how to fix it?
Is there a better version of BMM than 0.3.4?
@joefuf
Well, BMM is unsupported (dead)
Technically special version of safestrap or BMM is to install system on "hidden Droid partitions", and u have 2 systems
Probably it's bugged rom, because CM works really fast

Is DuelPatcher stable? can we use it properly?

Hi all,
I want to use OOS4.1.7 as my primary rom and LOS14.1 as the secondary one.
So, I'll have to use DuelPatcher (https://dbp.noobdev.io/downloads/)
I want to know, have anyone tried it?
does it work properly? are there any risks of damaging something or it is stable?
I don't want to use unofficial one as that's out dated.
is there anything which I'll have to keep in mind before using/flashing this mod?
Is DuelPatcher trusted?
can anyone of you share your experiences with DuelPatcher please?
yep
I used it ,but it is very complicated to flash rom or even update it. It bricked my OP3T
I lost my data because of dualpatcher

No, you didn't lose your data because of DualBoot Patcher, but because you didn't backup your data before doing the process.
Stop blaming devs / software when you are not able to take safe measure before installing something which can lead to this.
This is your fault, not DualBoot Patcher's one.
I would suggest to use MultiROM as it is easier to use than Dual Boot Patcher though our device is not officially supported we have very stable unofficial builds and I do use it on my daily driver and have never faced any major issues.
Hi bro, unfortunately I can't use the multirom as I will need to flash the modified recovery and that twrp doesn't recognise the recovery commands properly and it also doesn't work well with ADB.

The only thing "unusual" with the A6 is that it's a 64bits CPU running 32bits OS, with 64bits binder.
But that's standard in Android Pie.
So if you build pure AOSP GSI, you just use aosp_arm target.
For my GSI, that would be treble_a64_xxx (like treble_a64_avS-userdebug) target

Yeah but samsung A6 has something unusual, this commented phhusson earlier.

Working on j6 too

That's pretty normal for Samsung devices, especially lower spec variants.
A 64bit cpu is backward compatible with 32bit architecture, so shouldn't be an issue as long as the rom supports 32bit, built for ARM target as mentioned above.

I did it. Rom is working good. Everything looks great. About the glitch during the setup i just install gapps 8 ARM after flashin Rom and it's ok.
Adb also work for me
The thing is i don't understand why something on google account breaks even though i dont make any changes at all from stock rom. I also get a difference at menu. T mobile, mobile networks and service provider are visible at custom rom menu like in the pic below. Another thing is that i used superr's kitchen 1.1.9.5 to do the job. When i use 2.0.0.5 the custom rom does not boot.

Hi ! Don't be afraid, if you follow every step correctly you shouldn't have any problems, if you already unlocked your bootloader you should flash the latest version of TWRP if you want to root your phone, you can't use gcam unless you do it because you need to enable cam2api by adding a specific line to the build.prop.
If you decide to root it, just flash the treble version of TWRP and then flash the latest version of magisk, then you'll be able to modify your build.prop !
Ask me if you need any help

There are different types of treble devices you know. Only a couple GSI work on the g6.
GSI is a system image, so usually flash with fastboot.
Fastboot flash system system.img
Or in TWRP with the "install image" option.
The G6 does not have a b partition. So only try ones that say "arm A only". Meaning arm, not arm 64, and a - only, not a/b.
There is an entire section of this site devoted to it. Search "Project Treble". Without the quotes obviously
Here you go
https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble
Better yet here ya go
Built for the g6.
All GSIs are generic system images, so technically they can Flash on any device that has treble (with the correct CPU architecture and partitioning scheme) but when one gets built for your device most of the bugs have been worked out

I found the problem. The system partition is too small so GApps always fails. To solve it go to twrp adb push your rom, and flash it. Then go to format then system hit repair then resize and confirm. Of you are flashing a big GApps (Super) do it again. Flash GApps then Magisk (for root) then you're done
