I know very little of kringo, but I have heard negative things about it. What do you know about that?

I heard Kingo is a malware app. Can anybody confirm? Some of the rumors I heard is that your imei is send to a server in China.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
That was an older version, XDA has approved of the current version. Should be in another thread . or one of the other umpteen million threads on this subject. Regardless many have used it including myself with no issue. Even if it did send your IEMI somewhere there is nothing they can do with it. Only the original owner of the phone can add or remove it from a blacklist.
This process uses the RDLV method to get root on MJ5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715
Kingo maintains that they're legit, and a lot of people have used it here without problems.
You should have used SuperSU survival mode (others here have claimed it worked for getting the OTA update to MJ5 while keeping root).
Anyone know will get the update 5.1.1 on G900A ?

No, but considering T-Mobile already sent theirs out, i'm sure it won't be too long before it hits the AT&T variant
It's AT&T. We'll be waiting a while.

If it means the update doesn't "suck" i'm okay with waiting a while longer.
Now, will we have same rooting issue if we're on rooted 5.0 or do yall think it'll be more of a hot-fix than a bootloader update?

Good chance that 5.1.1 will be completely unrootable on locked bootloader devices.

Agreed, however, by that time, it probably won't matter for me. I highly regret taking the 5.0 update before doing root. I'm sick of not having the options I want with this phone and the daily freezes. As a long time AT&T customer with a grandfathered unlimited plan (not that that means anything, they throttle at 5GB, which I swear the FCC said was illegal), I'm about to eat the early termination fee and go to Project Fi with a Nexus 6.

Not likely, it appears the only way to root 5.1 will be a custom rooted kernel which is out of the question for locked bl devices. Seems the end of root access on locked bl devices is not far away.

That's fine IF your already rooted.. @muniz_ri was making the point that phones are coming that are not root able with locked BL.
Take the S6 Active for example, not looking to promising.

New s6 active just got v5.0.2. So it might be longer.
I'm going to buy a Tmobile version of the S5...AT&T LB Sux...

Well that is some sad news @muniz_ri. If you say you cannot do your usual magic, then i guess we are all sunk. I always check up on 5.whatever and it said it was out and i was hoping you would be able to modify it and keep the OA1 BL like you usually do....just to try it of course. Stock is not for many of us as you know. I will keep watching though. My installments are not done until 06-2016 and was hoping to maybe get an LG G4, but they dont seem to be having all that much luck with it, but i hear it is now rooted. by then, who knows. not a lot of money here. Thanks for you and others for keeping our device alive. I would never get an S6 or another Samsung I think. Between them and ATT, they are choking many of us. Ok, thanks again for all your hard work. Maybe u will come across something.
I have to get rid of my rooted, nearly mint, 64 gb s6 edge and go back to the fruit world for work. The significant other will not let me keep both. It is listed on swappa and I'm happy to discuss if anyone wants to inbox me.

Yes you can, I believe you have to Odin to oe2 to do so though. I may be wrong though. Download pingpong root apk and give it a try won't hurt anything.
I also have a rooted S6 in pretty great condition listed on Swappa right now if anyone else is looking for one.

To answer your question, no. Root was blocked in OF1 and beyond as well as with OF1 you cannot downgrade to a rootable firmware either.
You need to be on eiter OC3 ir OE2 in order to root.. Any other builds are not possible.

if everything ison oc3 then yes.. basically the kernel has to be the kernel either on oe2 and/or oc3.
if you want to try it download ping pong root apk

Nope. Don't try it, you will probably brick.
Is your device Snapdragon or Exynos?
Purchased it last month so I guess snapdragon. How do you tell?
Why do you need to flash the wifi firmware to root? Just root it as it is.

Just install Geekbench 3. That will tell you all about your hardware.
I know there's a root method out already, but I prefer to hold off given the potential limitations (especially the battery 80% issue).
Based on your experience, do you think there will be a better root method coming out soon?
Thanks!

because it requires a unlocked bootloader, not a engineering bootloader.
If the S8\s8+ doesn't get it, we def ain't gonna get it for Snapdragon users.
One of the main reasons i went exynos

What that means is no one has been able to find a workaround (engineering or otherwise) or not smart enough to figure it out yet and they're not clairvoyant enough to know if anyone can in the future. But I think it's a great question that I had actually been wondering myself.

Soon? absolutely not. I recommend backing up your stuff using samsung cloud and trying the root to see how it affects you. Exynos has a Unlocked BL HOWEVER it does not work on CDMA carriers.

i'm on Tmobile, so maybe i should get the exynos version if that root works better?
also, which phone/brand is easy to root?

if you get exynos there's a chance you'll have the issue where you have to wait 7 days to unlock your bootloader, you can get the korean version which comes unlocked out of box.
If you're not looking to deal with this kind of risk then go for pixel line, one plus 5\5t when it comes out, not sure what else really, the essential phone should have unlocked bootloader and roms soon as they've promised to release the source code and image files.
