I have good Qualcomm QC 3.0 charger, but my phone keeps on destroying the cables. iam tired of buying new cables. The new cable works fine for 2 to 7 days sometimes 10. The connection from port is also loose, a little movement can disconnect charging.
Is the charging port damaged ? Tried cleaning it but no luck.

Bought one high quality cable with 1 year replacement warranty. Its working fine with quick charge. If it destroys the cable I can now get it replaced for free. But r u sure about the charging port ?

It's hard to be sure as there are likely other things that could cause the issue with the cables, but the fact that you mentioned the connector is loose and moving it can stop charging it certainly does seem to be related to the charging port. If the connector were to short I imagine it could draw more juice than the cable is designed for and cause the cable to fail.

If it were me I would look into having it done. I haven't found a phone that I like nearly as much as the Nexus 6 and I just had my battery replaced so I plan on hanging on to the phone for a while. I've read in other posts that there are places found on Ebay that will fix the port for around $30, which to me would be worth the money.
I've have gone through cables like water. It stopped when I spent real money on a replacement cable. I have two Anker nylon braided cables that I use now and all had been fine ever since. The connector is designed to be not durable than the cable end so I would always try a good quality charging cable (sounds like you have) before taking the phone apart.
I'm sure the wear on my charge port makes the use of a good quality cable more important than it was early on.

Ok that new cable which i bought under warranty just got killed. Its not responding to charging. Funny thing is when my nexus 6 kills a cable, the cable won't even do anything for other phones, and it was a high quality cable, getting it replaced now. But iam seriously considering two things now.
1. Getting the charging port replaced which is costing 9-10$ here.
2. Sell the phone for 100-120$ and buy new Samsung Galaxy S9+ (but thats too expensive for now, I must wait for it to come down)
Iam so confused and upset.

I think batteries plus will replace the charge port, but it sounds like you have a shop. If it were my phone, I'd just fix it. It's really not a big deal. You might consider a case that has a plug to protect the charge port when it's in your pocket.

I did my battery myself. I replaced the mid-frame and back cover and the phone looked new.
If you decided to fix it, if you haven't already, spring for the battery as well. After 3-4 years, it's worth it.

Same thing happened with me. My phone destroyed many cables and port was loose too. 2 weeks ago,I replaced the port. Now it's working fine. I would recommend you to fix the port and use only one cable with it. I think using many cables with Nexus 6 might damage it's port
I just received one of my Nexus 6's back from having the USB/data port fixed and it works like new. Here is the service I used: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/322241237864

Can anyone recomend me a Nexus 7 charger? My stock charger has problems with very slow chargers, and most the time dont charge at all. At the moment i am using a old charger from a samsung phone but i find the connector very wonky where i have to wedge a bit of card next to the connector to keep it in place to charge. Also the cat has had hold of it so the wire is split down the center. Cheers.
I find the stock charger the best in the house, it's rated the highest (2A if I'm not mistaken)
Samsung cables don't fit well, they keep falling out
I got a Logitech charger with my mouse, and it seems quite high quality, but it's only 1A, and Nokia chargers should also be good, but thats only 1,2A I think.
Try a different cable first, I find it hard to believe that a charger would sometimes work, sometimes not, these things usually either work ok, or not at all.

Thanks, and yea tried a few the best one at the moment is the samsung one im using i just got to make sure i dont move the device or cable lol. The stock one only lasted a month or so. Full charge took about 15 hours where as the samsung one takes 2/3. I will brosw around on amazon and see what i can find.
Got one of these back in January, still going fine. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009ZSTXIS

It must've been faulty to begin with then. If you still have warranty, take it back, you should get a new one.

I haven't driven in years due to chronic illness and since my wife has been using the car she's gone through over a half dozen car adapters!
I've tried official Samsung car chargers (two of them), one expensive one from Bell Canada, several that you plug a separate usb cable to and maybe three others that that were simply "generic car chargers"... they simply stop working after a few months and I don't know what else to do.
I'm in Canada so we have cold winters and fairly warm summers and we've tried leaving the chargers in the car all the time (which is what I've done in the past with out problems) and her keeping them in her purse and using it when needed, but they still "die" quickly.
What charger would you recommend for durability? I don't want to spend $50 on a charger, since replacing them every few months isn't an option, but I'll consider anything that works.
Thanks in advance.
http://www.amazon.ca/Anker-18W-3-6A-Car-Charger/dp/B00B8M4IMK/ - highly recommend.
Scosche best IMO
I have used Anker batteries and battery packs and they work well. Their car chargers though I've had issues with, as they never actually put out the output they claim to.
Now, I've used an earlier model Scosche charger from YEARS ago and it's still going strong. I recently upgraded to this one because it truly does put out 2 amps for my Note 2 so it will charge my phone WHILE I'm using it.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003N7NO4Q
Please keep in mind, the usb cable being used does play a HUGE part in how efficiently your phone will charge as well. I ordered the cables pictured here and they work like a champ. Yes, they are fake Samsung cables, but they work better than any other cable I've used for both data and charging.

Thanks. I will check out both recommendations.

I ended up getting the Anker charger... it comes with an 18 months warranty, so we'll see what happens. I'm sure if it was made of solid iron my wife could find a way to damage it somehow... she's also gone through a dozen AC adapters (I've never had to replace mine for any device in the last 15 years...).
Doesn't make sense. Could it be the phone or battery?

Since we won't be getting it in the box, and I don't have a USB-C port on my laptop, I'll def. need to get one.
I thought of just getting the Google Store one, but $13.00 seemed a bit high
Then I thought of getting the OnePlus Cable one since it's cheaper, has some nice design features (flat, cable organizer, etc.), but then I realized it's only USB 2.0 spec and I kinda want to future proof the cable.
I figured the Spigen Cable would be a safe bet since it's a known brand, 3.0 spec, and discounted on their eBay store, but it's backordered til end of November!
Finally, I found this "generic" one on Amazon which I think I'll get since it has a bunch of reviews and is in stock before the N5X comes in.
Has anyone else started shopping for their USB-C <-> USB-A cable? Any other suggestions to consider?
I just got the one off of google
Got these cause they were a decently priced multipack.

Just got the cable from Google seems to be a very well made
iOrange braided 6 foot cable
$10 and has a 12 month warranty
I got a couple of the OnePlus cables, from the reviews I've read they are some of the best A to C cables available so far, and pretty cheap to boot.
I ordered a few of the Spigen cables on Amazon last week and already have them in hand. I have two of the C-A and one C-C.
I ordered the oneplus cable, it's on its way. Reversible insertion on both ends sounds good. Hopefully it's as good as monoprice premium cables. Bought the 5 feet version. Playstore only has a 3 feet version.

When is your estimated delivery date? Mine is end of the month early November. Just in time for the phone.

I ordered some 2.0 cables from Aliexpress for <$2 each. since I won't have a phone that supports 3.0 until at least next year I didn't feel the need to future proof as the cables should come down considerably in price over the next year as more devices move to c. also, by the time I get a 3.0 phone I may not have a computer with an a port anyway
Got some Cable Matters USB 2.0 cables from Amazon because they are good quality cables and support "USB Fast Charging @ 5V 3A". Both 3.3 feet and 6.6 feet cables available.

I did not know that. Dang it. I saw one review that said it charges at 800mAh. I ordered through Amazon Prime, so I will use the return policy if it turns out to charge slower. I will state something like the company was not clear about charging at slower speeds and demand a refund. Unacceptable to me
Edit: some users say it charges just as fast as the OP2's OEM cable. Either it's a fake review or the other users that complained received duds

OP2 was the only device that used type c at the time which makes it difficult to have a better judgment with those cables. OP2 did compromise stuff so idk what else they did. I am hoping the people who said the cables were not charging that quickly had duds
I will test when I get my phone and the cables
These cables are either junk or totally overpriced. The selection right now is awful
Hi All
I have this OCD that I'm going to damage the Micro USB port when inserting or removing the cable. Is the port durable? And should I just not worry about it?
In note 4, it will get loose and you need you find position that charges the phone.
Well using the app "phone info" on my rooted note 4 I can tell you I have connected a usb lead 712 times in the last year and I have no looseness or connection issues whatsoever.
No the most scientific of responses I know, but hopefully it will give you an idea.

I don't know I've abused the port a lot, plugging in at night, moving it around quite carelessly too, then I also flooded it with water once accidentally, after a few hours of weirdness it still works great, not loose or anything

If you've got a dodgy connection, replace the lead. They're cheap (much cheaper than trying to replace the socket)
My experience is that most micro USB leads are good for a couple of hundred connections or so.
Thanks to everyone who has replied. I really appreciate it soo much. I now will charge my phone worry free.

It is much better than Mini-USB standard, which usually get broken in mid-long use.
My Micro-USB port is working very fine in my Note 4. Charged around 800 times.
almost 2000 count on my phone
and still work fine
800 times, no problem.
FYI, the MicroUSB standard states a design lifetime of 10000 cycles. The weakest parts are on the cable side.

Use a wireless charger. The "Achilles Heel" of the Nexus 6 is it's charging/data port. There are services on eBay that will fix it for like $20-$25

Wireless is way too slow, my last charging pads melted from getting too hot from trying charge through the case. The charging port is part of motherboard I don't think it be that cheap.

Mine is still doing fine. Received my Nexus in December 2014 (wow, never owned a phone that long).
However, it was picky when it comes to charger cables since the first day.
@Pat76, I've had better luck using the Anker branded cables. But yes, the charge cables fail over time/Use. Better the cable than the port

My charging port is just fine still but I charge wirelessly most of the time so it hasn't seen the number of cycles that you'd expect for a 3 1/2 year old phone.
